1 Day & Date: Monday, September 28, 2015 Students will demonstrate their knowledge by listing and explaining the steps of the rock cycle. Label the Rock Cycle. Students will be shown a picture of the rock cycle. T.P.S: Why do you think the rock cycle is important to OUR daily life? Students will complete the Rock Cycle Activity page. Once Students complete the Rock Cycle Activity, they will create a quizlet of all of the bolded words on the activity page. Students will work in pairs to quiz each other over the vocabulary words. 2 Day & Date: Tuesday, September 22, 2015 Students will demonstrate their knowledge by listing and explaining the steps of the rock cycle. How can you tell metamorphic, sedimentary, and igneous rocks apart? Socrative over the rock cycle. Students will be grouped based on the socrative quiz. Students will work through the rock cycle by rolling dice. As students roll the dice, they will be instructed to go to different stations. 3 Day & Date: Wednesday, September 30, 2015 What formation process occurs during a sedimentary rock transition to a metamorphic rock? T.P.S: Is there any place in the world where you would see each type of rock represented? Identify the Rock Lab: Students will work in groups based on the socrative from Tuesday. The groups will be given 12 rocks to identify as sedimentary, igneous, or metamorphic rocks. T.P.S: What were some characteristics of each rock? Create a graphic organizer, using popplet or ibrainstorm, explaining the characteristics discussed during the TPS. (5 WGS: Airplay student results. Kick-Off, Rock Lab, Graphic Organizer

4 Day & Date: Thursday, October 01, 2015 Perfo rmance Tasks: (40 Name all of the processes that change rock from one form to another? Add these words to your quizlet over the rock cycle. Show me the Rock! Students Groups will be same as the previous days. We will review the previous lab activity and characteristics of rocks. Groups will receive one type of each rock. I will shout of a phrase, for example, Show me the rock that is formed by heat and pressure. Students will select the rock, and have one student from each group bring me the selected rock. Students will receive points for every correct rock shown to me. If an incorrect rock is shown, there will be a TPS on why that rock wasn t the correct one. 5 Day & Date: Friday, October 02, 2015 Students will show mastery over the rock cycle. Students will demonstrate knowledge of the water cycle by listing and identifying the steps of the water cycle. How important is water in your daily life? What would happen to Earth s water if Earth s population continues growing? T.P.S: What part of the Rock Cycle impacts the water cycle? Rock Cycle Quiz: Students will be tested over the rock cycle processes and formations.
