1 Day & Date: Monday, September 28, 2015 Students will demonstrate their knowledge by listing and explaining the steps of the rock cycle. Label the Rock Cycle. Students will be shown a picture of the rock cycle. T.P.S: Why do you think the rock cycle is important to OUR daily life? Students will complete the Rock Cycle Activity page. Once Students complete the Rock Cycle Activity, they will create a quizlet of all of the bolded words on the activity page. Students will work in pairs to quiz each other over the vocabulary words. 2 Day & Date: Tuesday, September 22, 2015 Students will demonstrate their knowledge by listing and explaining the steps of the rock cycle. How can you tell metamorphic, sedimentary, and igneous rocks apart? Socrative over the rock cycle. Students will be grouped based on the socrative quiz. Students will work through the rock cycle by rolling dice. As students roll the dice, they will be instructed to go to different stations. Each station is represented as different part of the rock cycle. TOD: Explain your travels through the rock cycle? Kick-Off, Socrative, Summarizer Ipad, dice, student worksheet, socrative
3 Day & Date: Wednesday, September 30, 2015 What formation process occurs during a sedimentary rock transition to a metamorphic rock? The groups will be given 12 rocks to identify as sedimentary, igneous, or metamorphic rocks. T.P.S: What were some characteristics of each rock? I will shout of a phrase, for example, Show me the rock that is formed by heat and pressure. Students will select the rock, and have one student from each group bring me the selected rock. Students will receive points for every correct rock shown to me. If an incorrect rock is shown, there will be a TPS on why that rock wasn t the correct one.
