1 Dear Ski Club Member: Welcome to the Howell Ski and Snowboard Club! This letter is to inform you of all you will need to know for our trips. Please read over carefully. There is one additional waiver form that will need to be signed by an adult for each child they have registered prior to the first trip (this form is not included in this packet & will be sent out shortly.) *All registrations are due to the office by December 14 th, that is also the date the payment for the first ski trip is due! *The bus will depart from the Southard Elementary School at 5:45am sharp. All participants should arrive at 5:15 am. Bus will return to Southard Elementary School at approximately 7:00 pm. *All participants are required to wear a helmet! *If requesting a refund, please let us know prior to the trip! The easiest way to be reached is by at jszyarto@howellpal.org *Be sure to have all waiver/rental forms filled out and returned prior to each trip. If you are renting equipment from Shawnee Mountain please download the pdf form on our website with the instructions on how to rent the equipment prior to the trip (please be aware there are different codes for each trip). For Camelback & Blue Mountain your child will have to fill out the form when we get to the lodge (Please make sure they know their height, weight, and shoe size). For Jack Frost Big Boulder there are two forms in a pdf form to print and fill out - one is if you are renting a helmet and the other is if you are renting equipment. Please have the rental forms for any trip filled out by the date the payment is due for that trip whether the form is something you have to send into the office or fill out online. Please send any forms to Howell PAL at PO Box 713. Please make sure to of read all the papers provided online in the registration packet. Those include rules and regulations of the Ski and Snowboard Club as well as a list of some ski and snowboard tips for beginners! Please read them both carefully. 4 Tips for Beginners 1. Be sure to bring extra clothes and socks to change into for the ride home. 2. Try to dress in layers. Stay away from cotton. Use fabrics that will keep the heat in and whisk away the moisture. 3. Food can be brought or bought. There is a lodge that serves food, however prices can be expensive. 4. Sunglasses, goggles, chap stick and sunscreen can be very helpful. 5. Be sure that your outerwear is waterproof and warm. Stay away from jeans. 6. One thick pair of socks keeps your feet warmer than several pair of thin socks. 7. Mittens are warmer than gloves 8. Hats may not look great but are essential in keeping you warm. 9. Please lock all equipment. You are responsible for your rental equipment. The lodge offers lockups for your skies and snowboards. 10. The most important tip is to have a fun time!

Box Kent Road SKI / SNOWBOARD PROGRAM RULES & REGULATIONS 1) The Ski / Snowboard Program is based on safety, trust and responsibility. 2) Participants are to be present at Southard School no later than 5:15am the morning of trip. 3) Proper attire is required for all trips. 4) Participants are responsible to act in a social manner with both verbal and physical respect towards others at all times (NO profanity/no fighting). 5) Participants are required to care for and value all teen trip buildings and grounds. 6) If suspended from a trip based on misconduct, there will be no refund. 7) Participants are to be responsible for their own personal belongings. The Howell PAL will not be held responsible for any lost or stolen items. 8) Each trip will have a designated site where a counselor may be located for assistance. The designated site will also serve as the trips mid day check in point. All counselors are available to program participants at anytime. 9) Participants are required to check in with their counselor at the designated check in time (Time will be announced before departure of each trip). Failure to check in at set time may prevent participant from attending the next scheduled Ski / Snowboard trip. BE ADVISED: Failure to adhere to the above rules may result is suspension and/or removal from the program. Therefore, your cooperation is greatly appreciated!
