3 Provisional itinerary Please note: The below is a provisional itinerary and subject to final confirmation. Day 1, Sunday 25 March: ARRIVE IN BEIJING. GUIDED TOURS OF TIANANMEN SQUARE AND THE FORBIDDEN CITY. WELCOME DINNER. Participants will arrive in Beijing and check into the luxurious Peninsula Hotel Beijing located adjacent to the Forbidden City. The afternoon will be dedicated to exploring some of China s most famous tourist attractions. Professional guides will lead the group on tours of Tiananmen Square, and the Forbidden City. In the evening a welcome dinner with selected local guests will be held in close proximity to the hotel. Day 2, Monday 26 March: INTRODUCTORY WORKSHOP. The Business side of the tour will begin on Monday morning with a fascinating lecture by Professor David Gosset, China European International Business School, providing participants with unique insights into China s renaissance. In the early afternoon the group will depart on prearranged company meetings. That evening special arrangements can be made to view the famous Martial Arts Theatre or Chinese Opera. Day 3, 3 Tuesday 27 March: MEETINGS AND VISIT TO THE GREAT WALL OF CHINA. A half day of meetings and presentations in Beijing will introduce you to different aspects of doing business in China and the Chinese economy. In the afternoon the group will visit the Great Wall of China. Day 4, 4 Wednesday 28 March: TRANSFER TO SHANGHAI. CITY TOUR. GROUP DINNER. After an early morning check out, the group will depart for a morning company meeting followed by a flight to Shanghai. Arriving in the early afternoon, the group will participate in a guided city tour providing an introduction and orientation to Shanghai and some of the city s cultural highlights. A welcome dinner in the evening will be followed by an opportunity to explore some of Shanghai s famous nightlife. Day 5, 5 Thursday 29 March: JWT. SUZHOU INDUSTRIAL PARK. In the morning the group will be addressed by global advertising business JWT. You will then depart for a visit to Suzhou Industrial Park for presentations from local authorities as well as entrepreneurs active in various sectors within the park. An informal evening reception will provide participants the opportunity to meet with fellow alumni from Shanghai. Day 6, 6 Friday 30 March: COMPANY MEETINGS. FINAL DINNER. The final day will be dedicated to exploring different industries in Shanghai through presentations and company meetings. The final group dinner in the evening will be held at a prestigious Shanghai restaurant venue to be announced. 4 Learning programme The study tour allows participants to immerse themselves in the business environment of a specific country. Each tour takes a cohort on an intensive exploration of a country's business practices, challenges and cultures, using company visits as the ideal setting for practical case studies. Since initiating its open door policy under the leadership of Deng Xiaoping, China has achieved tremendous economic and social success. Growth averaging 9.7 percent per annum since the late 1970s has helped to lift several hundred million people out of absolute poverty. Programme structure The learning platform will consist of field visits, meetings and workshops covering business, trade, politics, education, and development issues. We aim to explore some of the major themes and challenges in China as seen through the eyes and experiences of executives from a wide variety of backgrounds and industries - corporate, government, entrepreneurial and academia. The tour not only provides a unique learning experience but also a fantastic networking opportunity allowing participants to develop the foundations for strong future relationships. 6 Legacy Ventures terms and conditions Booking & Contractual conditions Your tour contract is with Legacy Ventures, a division of Ashley Adams Travel (UK) Ltd, a member of ABTA. Your Financial Protection We are a fully bonded Tour Operator, members of ABTA and also fully bonded ATOL holders licensed by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA Our ATOL number is ATOL 4795). In the unlikely event of our insolvency, the CAA will ensure that you are not stranded abroad and will arrange to refund any money you have paid to us for an advance booking. For further information, visit the ATOL website at Your Tour Price When making your booking you must pay a deposit of 400 per person (for certain tours the overseas operator may demand a higher deposit - eg: rail, sea and safaris - if so you will be notified of the required deposit at the time of the booking.) The balance of the price of your tour arrangements must be paid at least 8 weeks before departure date. If the deposit and/or balance is not paid in time, we shall cancel your travel arrangements. If the balance is not paid in time we shall retain your deposit. Due to continuing variation of airfares, tour prices will be confirmed when bookings are made. The price of your travel arrangements is subject to surcharges for increases in transportation costs such as fuel, scheduled air fares and any other airlines surcharges, which are part of the contract between the airlines (and their agents) and the tour operator. Also government action such as increases in VAT or any other Government imposed increases and currency changes in relation to an adverse currency exchange rate variation. Should you decide to cancel because of this you must exercise your right to do so in writing within 14 days from the issue date printed on the invoice. If you change your booking If, after our confirmation invoice has been issued, you wish to change your tour arrangements in any way, for example your chosen departure date or accommodation, we will endeavour to meet your wishes to the best of our ability. An administration fee of 50 per person per alteration will be charged. You should be aware that these costs could increase considerably the closer to the departure date that the changes are made. If you cancel your tour You, or any member of your party, may cancel your tour arrangements at any time. Written notification from the person who made the booking must be received at our offices. Since we incur costs cancelling your travel arrangements, you will have to pay the applicable cancellation charges up to the maximum shown below. If the reason for cancellation is covered under the terms of your insurance policy, you may be able to reclaim these charges. Notified 61 or more days before departure-loss of deposit including any higher deposits as demanded by the overseas operators. Notified 60-0 days before departure 100% Alteration to arrangements whilst abroad by you We regret that no credit or refund is possible for any unused services provided in the cost of the tour. If you decide to alter your tour arrangements whilst abroad this is your own responsibility and the Company or the Company s agents are not responsible for any extra costs that are involved or for any difficulties that may arise with onward travel as a result of such alterations. No credit or refund is possible for any lost, mislaid or destroyed travel documents which should be the subject of a claim on your own insurance. Alteration to confirmed booking by us It is unlikely that we will have to make any change to your tour, but we do plan the arrangements many months in advance. Occasionally we need to make changes which we reserve the right to do at any time. Most of these changes are minor, and we will advise you at the earliest possible date. When a major change occurs (such as alteration of flights or a reduction in the standard of accommodation) provided it does not arise from circumstances amounting to force majeure you will have the choice of either accepting the change of arrangements, taking another available tour from us, or cancelling your holiday and receiving a full refund. In all cases we will pay compensation as detailed below. Period before departure date within which a major change is received in writing by Legacy Ventures: Compensation per person More than 56 days Nil days 15, days days 45, 0-14 days 60 Important Note: Compensation will not be payable if we are forced to cancel or in any way change your holiday due to war, threat of war, riot, civil strife, industrial dispute, terrorist activity, natural or nuclear disaster, fire, adverse weather conditions or other circumstances amounting to force majeure. Minimum numbers and cancellation c of confirmed booking by us Legacy ventures reserves the right to cancel the tour in the event that the group size is less than the minimum required number of participants (20). In the event of the company having to cancel the tour on or before the date when the payment of the balance of the price becomes due you will be given a full refund of your deposit. In the unlikely event that we have to cancel after the date when payment of the balance of the price becomes due (always providing that the balance has been paid), compensation will be made as detailed below. In the event that a tour has to be cancelled for reasons of force majeure, i.e. the occasion of war, threat of war, riot, civil strife, industrial dispute, terrorist activity, natural or nuclear disaster, fire, adverse weather conditions, all monies paid will be refunded but it is regretted that there will be no compensation payable. Cancellation within 56 days of departure: days 20, days days 50, 0-14 days 60 Personal injury (unconnected with arrangements made by us) If you, or any member of your party, suffer death, illness or injury whilst overseas arising out of an activity which does not form part of your tour arrangements, nor part of any excursion sold through us, we shall at our discretion, offer advice, guidance and assistance. Where legal action is contemplated and you want our assistance, you must obtain our written consent prior to commencement of proceedings. Our consent will be given subject to you undertaking to assign any costs, benefits received under any relevant insurance policy to ourselves. We limit the cost of our assistance to you or any member of your party to 5,000. Arbitration In the case of any complaint we will do all in our power to resolve this to the satisfaction of our client. However, in the unlikely event this proves impossible the matter may (if the customer so wishes) be referred to Arbitration under a special Scheme which, though devised by arrangement with the Association of British Travel Agents, is administered quite independently by the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. The Scheme provides for a simple and inexpensive method of arbitration on documents alone with restricted liability on the customer in respect of costs. The Scheme does not apply to claims for an amount greater than 5,000 per person. There is also a limit of 15,000 per booking form. Neither does it apply to claims which are solely or mainly in respect of physical injury or illness, however, the Scheme can cover claims which include an element of injury or illness subject to a limit of 1,000. The rules of the Scheme provide that the application for arbitration must be made within 9 months of the scheduled date of return. Tour Operator s Liability i) We accept responsibility for ensuring the tour which you book with us is supplied as described in the original marketing materials. We accept responsibility for the acts and/or omissions of our employees, agents and suppliers except where they lead to death, injury or illness. Our liability in all cases shall be limited to a maximum of three times the value of the original holiday cost. ii) We accept responsibility for death, injury or illness caused by the negligent acts and/or omissions of our employees or agents together with our suppliers or sub-contractors, servants and/or agents of the same whilst acting within the scope of, or in the course of their employment in the provision of your tour. We will accordingly pay to our clients such damages as might have been awarded in such circumstances under English Law. iii) In respect of carriage by air, sea and rail and the provision of accommodation our liability in all cases will be limited in the manner provided by the relevant international convention. (Please see Conditions of Carriage below). Conditions of Carriage The Contractual terms of the companies that provide the transportation for your travel arrangements will apply to this contract. These may contain terms which affect your rights to compensation. You may ask for copies of the relevant conditions of carriage from our offices. The original marketing materials are our responsibility, as your tour operator. It is not issued on behalf of, and does not commit the airlines mentioned herein or any airline whose services are used in the course of the travel arrangements. If you have a complaint We do our best to give you an enjoyable, trouble-free tour but occasionally even the best laid plans can go wrong. If you have a problem during your tour, please inform the relevant authority (e.g. hotel, tour manager etc.) immediately who will endeavour to put things right. If your complaint cannot be completely resolved locally, please follow this up in writing within 28 days of your return home, giving all relevant information. It is therefore a condition of this contract that you communicate any problem to the authority in question whilst on tour. If you fail to follow this simple procedure our ability to investigate may be affected. Data Protection Policy - Tour Operators In order to process your booking and to ensure that your travel arrangements run smoothly we need to use the information you provide such as name, address, any special needs/dietary requirements etc. We take full responsibility for ensuring the proper security measures are in place to protect your information. We must pass the information on to the relevant suppliers of your travel arrangements such as airlines, hotels, transport companies etc. The information may also be provided to security or credit checking companies, public authorities such as customs/immigration if required by them, or as required by law. Additionally, where your holiday is outside the European Economic Area (EEA), controls on data protection in your destination may not be as strong as the legal requirements in this country. We will not however pass any information onto any person not responsible for part of your travel arrangements. This applies to any sensitive information that you give to us such as details of any disabilities, or dietary/religious requirements. (If we cannot pass this information to relevant suppliers, whether in the EEA or not, we cannot provide your booking.) In making this booking, you consent to this information being passed on to the relevant persons). *Please note that we, your tour operator act as your data controller.
