2 PAGE 2 How To Register Online Registration Registration and payment for our course offerings should be as easy as clicking a button. The Edward King House is proud to announce that ALL courses and events are easily accessible for information and online registration. Go to to the Programs Tab. Click on Register Online and follow the directions as they appear. Upon full completion of this process with payment, your registration will be accepted and the program will give you the option to print a ticket for your class. Registration By Mail Register by mail by filling out the registration form COMPLETELY and attaching payment to be sent to: The Edward King House, 35 King Street, Newport, RI, Your registration will be time-stamped at the time that it arrives at the King Street address. Registration In Person Register in person at The Edward King House, 35 King Street in Newport. Come in anytime from 9am to 4pm, Monday through Friday and ask for Anthony Geer, Program Manager. It is imperative that you come prepared with your registration form filled out and payment ready to go. Your registration will be time-stamped at this time. Tuition Payment Pay for your courses and events with your online registration. If you choose to pay by credit card, click on the PayPal button and follow the directions. If you choose to pay by check, make your checks payable to :The Edward King House Cash payments will also be accepted. Important Note: Course registrations will NOT be finalized until full payment is received prior to the course commencement. Full registration will be offered to participants on a first come, first served basis. All registration forms are time-stamped for receipt. Preference is given to members over non-members for class space.
3 EDWARD KING HOUSE SENIOR CENTER PRESENTS PAGE 3 Program Policies 1. All fees for courses and events at the are NON-REFUNDABLE. There are no exceptions. 2. Members of the are permitted to try out a course for one session only with permission of the Executive Director and dependent upon space availability in accordance with local and state fire code. (Note: this does NOT include workshops or special events.) 3. No guests are permitted during class sessions at any time without permission of the Executive Director and dependent upon space availability in accordance with local and state fire code. 4. A class seat can only be reserved upon payment of tuition for that course. Verbal reservations will not be accepted. 5. Class seats are sold on a first come, first served basis. 6. members are given preference to class seats over non-members. 7. Participants must be respectful of staff, other members and Center property and follow all Center policies. 8. All individuals who use the services of the Edward King House deserve the respect of their privacy. Therefore, it is the policy of this Center to respect this basic right by not divulging information without the individual s consent. 9. The Edward King House is a smoke free facility. 4 PAGE 4 Edward King House About The Edward King House For more than 46 years The Edward King House has served a vital role in the community by meeting the ever-changing needs of the senior population. Through our diverse variety of classes, programming, performances and club activities we offer seniors age fifty and older the ability to remain active. As a frequent destination for Newport County seniors, the Edward King House serves as a hub for personal enrichment insuring access to a well-rounded quality of life and a reliable resource for individual and family referrals regarding senior issues. The Edward King House sees an average of four hundred visitors on a weekly basis (16,000-18,000 yearly) and fields a large volume of calls daily seeking support services. Based upon the growing population of seniors, we can expect this number to increase dramatically over the next several years. Our Mission The Edward King House provides an active and enriching environment in a warm, welcoming, attractive setting for residents of Newport County fifty years of age or older. Membership includes exercise classes, health and wellness workshops, various educational programs, social events and membership to the Newport Circle of Scholars. The center provides supportive services attuned to the diverse needs of today s senior adult. 6 PAGE 6 Intermediate Yoga with Zulekha Ludwig MONDAYS Class Time: 9:00AM-10:00AM It is necessary to have some experience with yoga before you take intermediate yoga. Continue to explore the fundamentals of yoga as you learn to breathe and move deeply from within. Practice light movements with consciousness to build strength, balance, and flexibility and inner peace. Drawing and Painting with Jeanine Bestoso MONDAYS Class Time: 10:30AM-12:30pm Students bring the medium of their choice to work under the guidance of long time Drawing and Painting instructor Jeanine Bestoso. Participants are encouraged to bring their own tools needed to hone their skills and learn something new. Strength & Flexibility with Beth Kerr MONDAYS Class Time: 11:15am 12:15pm This class will focus on simple exercises that increase flexibility, range of motion and muscle and core strength, creating more fluid motion and balance for activities for daily living. Beginners Gyrokinesis with Katie Moorhead MONDAYS Class Time: 4:00PM-5:00PM This is a movement method that gently works the entire body, opening energy pathways, stimulating the nervous system, increasing range of motion, and creating functional strength through rhythmic, flowing movement sequences. Chair Yoga 1 with Lynne Glickman TUESDAYS Class Time: 9:00am 10:00am Class Limit: 15 Chair Yoga isn t just for seniors. Are you recovering from an injury that limits your mobility? Do you have a disability but still need to keep your body and mind active? Are you a senior citizen looking to keep your body in the best condition possible? You can perform most yoga postures, breathing techniques, and meditation and relaxation techniques all from a chair!! All levels welcome.

Multiple studies have shown the power of the ancient practice, which emphasizes stretching, strength, and flexibility, to relieve back soreness. In fact, several studies have found that yoga can even trump usual care for back pain when it comes to improving back function. Tai Chi with Jesse Harding THURSDAYS Class Time: 10:30AM-11:30AM Tai-Chi is based on the ancient Chinese method of working on self healing through the use of breathing and movement. Tai-Chi improves stress response and enhances energy. Pilates with Beth Kerr NEW** FRIDAYS Class Time: 9:15 to 10:15 Like brushing your teeth, a Pilates session every day cleanses your vital organs and lubricates your joints making you feel years younger in just a few minutes. These sessions will help you to strengthen and stretch for a strong, pain free, and limber body. Chorus with Kristine Wilbur FRIDAYS Class Time: 10:45AM-11:45AM The senior chorus was established to provide seniors with a comfortable environment to sing and perform. Sessions include vocal technique, singing and performing for members. The chorus performs a repertoire from the American Song Book. Auditions are ongoing and new members are always welcome and encouraged to join!
