1 PINE COMMUNITY SCHOOL ANNUAL REPORT (Based on data from 2015) DESCRIPTIVE INFORMATION School sector: Independent School s address: 123 Bunya Road, Arana Hills 4054 Total enrolments: 85 students Year levels offered: Ungraded Preparatory to Year 6 Co-educational or single sex: Co-educational Characteristics of the student body:. 46 boys and 39 girls were enrolled. We have 1 indigenous student enrolled at the present time. Distinctive curriculum offerings: This refers to special programs or innovative Extra-curricular activities: de Distinctive curriculum offerings: Participation in Theatre Restaurant at the end of Term 2; participation in Our Town in Term 3 (enabling children to become leaders, entrepreneurs and learn hands-on aspects of government, democracy, culture, compassion, arts, literacy and numeracy in a whole-school weeklong dramatic play context); permaculture gardening (involving project management, science, SOSE and technology learning); digital photography training, democratic principles (learned through wholeschool meetings, year-long, real-life contexts, including skills in problemsolving, conflict resolution, chairing meetings and taking minutes), conflict resolution/peer mediation, cross-age peer tutoring programs and yoga.
2 Extra-curricular activities: Friday shared picnic lunch; ice-skating, roller-skating and bowling offered at various times during the year; social justice initiatives Social climate: describes the social climate of the school, including pastoral care programs (this investigating might also include issues the school s of human commitment rights, to child developing protection, reference compassion, to the school s behaviour management and anti-bullying programs) participating in local and global social justice projects. The social climate of the school: The school embraces Conflict Transformation an umbrella programme that encompasses teaching the students conflict resolution techniques, peer mediation and NVC (non-violent communication). Micro-circles are used to enable better communication between students and empower them with the skills to resolve their conflicts peacefully. The school runs regular parent workshops to help parents understand the processes that the school employs. Parental involvement: Parental involvement: Pine Community School has an open door policy. Parents are welcome in the classroom at any time. Parents are also involved in many roles around the school including: - Regular general meetings - Representation on the Board of Directors - Weekly parent chats - Representation on various committees including Strategic planning; fund-raising; lands and building; working bee; education; liaison; public relations. - Library - Gardening - Excursions - Sharing skills and talents (e.g. felt-making; knitting; art and craft; animation; photography) - Reading programmes - Classroom volunteers
3 Parent, teacher and student satisfaction with the school: Parent, teacher and student satisfaction with the school Pine Community School conducts satisfaction surveys of students, staff and parents. The results indicated very high levels of satisfaction. Pine Community School also conducts weekly parent chats and regular staff chats and student discussion in relation to satisfaction levels within the school community. Although this information is gathered on an informal basis, the results still indicate a high satisfaction level amongst the school community, as also demonstrated by high teacher and student retention rates. STAFFING INFORMATION Staff composition, including Indigenous staff: The school employed on a full-time basis 1 Principal and 2 male and 2 female teaching staff and 5 female teaching staff on a part-time basis. 2 part-time male and 9 part-time female non-teaching staff worked at the school. No indigenous staff were employed at Pine. Qualifications of all teachers: Qualification Percentage of classroom teachers and school leaders at the school who hold this qualification Doctorate or higher % Masters 20% Bachelor Degree 100% Diploma % Certificate %

The major professional development initiatives were as follows: Literacy and numeracy workshops; conflict resolution and non-violent communication training and Autism workshops. The participation of the staff in professional development activities during 2015 was 95%. Average staff attendance for the school, based on unplanned absences of sick and emergency leave periods of up to 5 days: Number of Staff Number of School Days Total Days Staff Absences Average Staff Attendance Rate % For permanent and temporary staff and school leaders the average staff attendance rate was 97.5% in 2015.

If a child is not present by 10a.m and the school has not been notified, the school telephones the family to check on the situation. NAPLAN results for Years 3 and 5 in 2015: No results are available as the student population is below the reporting threshold.
