1 Current Volunteer Opportunities For more information or to register to volunteer contact Volunteer Services at or Call (248) Trail Ambassador year round Orion Oaks County Park Monday Friday during the day. Duties include walking the trails on foot, promoting safe and proper use of the trails by providing information to visitors on Park rules and policies. Uniform: reflective vest, name tag Dog Park Ambassador year round Red Oaks, Lyon Oaks and Orion Oaks Dog Parks The schedule is based upon your availability. Duties include walking the dog park area and interacting with park patrons. Explain park rules, policies and promote programs and events. Uniform: reflective vest, name tag Fridays May - November Natural Resources & Land Management School Credit Volunteer 7:30a.m. 3:30p.m. Volunteers needed: max 5 Oakland County Parks and Recreation (OCPR) Natural Resources Unit is looking for highly motivated students currently interested in the conservation and stewardship of natural resources and land management, and in need of hands-on, field work volunteer hours. Uniform: work clothes May October Glen Oaks, Red Oaks, White Lake Oaks, Red Oaks and Springfield Oaks Golf Courses Various shifts available 4-6 hours per shift, once per week Cart Attendant - your duties include staging, cleaning, and storing golf carts; maintaining a clean work area; and performing other duties as needed. Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older. 1

Thursdays August 18, September 22, and October 6 Wint Nature Center Sensory Garden Volunteer Days Wint Nature Center inside Independence Oaks 9501 Sashabaw Road, Clarkston, MI :00a.m. 12:00p.m. Volunteers needed: 4 with some gardening experience The garden is used for teaching; we will work on the garden, have a snack, and discuss garden topics and events. Bailey House 9965 Sashabaw Road, Clarkston, MI :30a.m. 12:30p.m. Volunteers needed: 8 Assist with asset inventory, asset restoration, artifact preparation, archeological dig and the library. Uniform: work clothes Saturday September 10 Waterford Oaks Dog Swim Owners watch as their pooches have the pool all to themselves! Contests each hour for Best Wet Look and Best Swimsuit. Waterford Oaks Waterpark 1702 Scott Lake Road, Waterford, MI :30a.m. 5:00p.m. Volunteers needed: 5 Assist with event set-up; tear down, info booth and monitoring the deck. Sunday September 11 Red Oaks Dog Swim and Fido Fest Owners watch as their pooches have the pool all to themselves! Contests each hour for Best Wet Look and Best Swimsuit. Sunday September 11 Community Garage Sale Members of the community can rent space to sell their household goods. 2:00p.m. 5:00p.m. Volunteers needed: 1 Assist Market Staff with organizing donations for St. Vincent DePaul, moving boxes, furniture and bags. Saturday September 17 and 24 Groveland Oaks Haunted Hallows A haunted island where staff and volunteers dress up and spook patrons who walk across the island. Groveland Oaks Dixie Highway, Holly, MI :30p.m. 10:00p.m. Volunteers needed: 23 Assist with event set-up, tear down, dress up, spook the patrons and control access at the bridge. Uniform: your own Halloween costume (family friendly) or one of ours 3

Lyon Oaks Banquet Center Pontiac Trail, Wixom, MI :00p.m. 9:00p.m. Volunteers needed: 16 Assist with glow putt-putt, glow games, face painting area, and sno cones. Sunday October 2 Destination 4-H An event promoting the nearly 50 4-H clubs in Oakland County. 11:30a.m. 4:30p.m. Volunteers needed: 10 Assist with S mores station, craft stations and event tear down. Friday October 7 Awesome Autumn Dance An evening event with dinner, dancing, DJ and hayrides for adults with developmental disabilities. Waterford Oaks Activity Center 2800 Watkins Lake Road, Waterford, MI :00p.m. 8:15p.m. Volunteers needed: 11 Assist with greeting guests, help serve food and beverages, event set-up and tear down as needed. Uniform: fall colors, name tag Saturday October 8 and 15 Addison Oaks Boo Bash A haunted house where staff and volunteers dress up and spook patrons. Addison Oaks 1480 W. Romeo Road, Leonard, MI :00p.m. 10:00p.m. Volunteers needed: 13 Assist with event set-up, tear down, and spooking the patrons Uniform: your own Halloween costume (family friendly) or one of ours Saturday October 22 Pumpkin Fest An action-packed afternoon with pumpkin carving for the whole family! Event includes spooky animal nature talks, cider and donuts, and crafts. Red Oaks Nature Center Hales Street, Madison Heights, MI :00a.m. 4:30p.m. Volunteers needed: 29 Assist with event set-up; tear down, registration, crafts, pumpkin carving, refreshments and hikes. 4

Southfield Civic Center Evergreen Road, Southfield, MI :00p.m. 8:30p.m. Volunteers needed: 23 Assist with greeting guests, help serve food and beverages, event set-up and tear down as needed. Uniform: your own Halloween costume (family friendly), name tag Saturday October 29 Trick or Treat An afternoon of children s activities and trick or treating. 4:00p.m. 8:00p.m. Volunteers needed: 2 Assist with craft stations and event tear down.
