1 Installation guide for e.dentifier software The e.dentifier can be used connected or unconnected to the PC with a USB cable. Connected use requires the installation of software. Having opened this text you are only a few steps away from connected use of your e.dentifier. This guide will help you step-by-step through downloading and installing the e.dentifier software. Even when the software for connecetd use of the e.dentifier is on your PC, each time you use Internet Banking you can opt for connected or unconnected use. 2 Downloading the e.dentifier software Step 1: The e.dentifier should not yet have been connected using the USB cable. Log on to the internet and go to Step : Click on the link: download software. In order to download the software you must first log on to Internet Banking. Step : Insert your bank card into the e.dentifier. On your e.dentifier use the 1 key to select 1. Log on. Enter your PIN on the e.dentifier followed by OK. The e.dentifier will give a response. Enter this on your PC. Step : You are now logged on. Click on OK at the bottom of the screen. You can now download the software. Step : A file has already been selected for you. Click on the Download button. If you want to select a file for a different operating system or a different file type, click on other versions. Once you have made your choice, click on the Download button. Step 6: The downloading is started. Click Run. 6 The following section provides a detailed description of how to install the software.

3 Installing the software Step 1: If you have selected Run, continue with step. If you have stored the software, go to the location at which you have stored the software on your PC. Double click on the setup icon. Step : Select your desired language Click on OK. Step : The Wizard is opened. Click on Next. Step : If you agree to the conditions, select the top option: I agree to the conditions and click on Next. 1 Step : If you agree to the conditions, select the top option: I accept the terms and click on Next. If you would prefer a different target folder, click on Change, indicate the correct folder and click on Next. Step 6: Click on Install. The software will be installed. Step 7: Click on Finish. The installation is complete. 6 7

4 Connecting the e.dentifier Connect your e.dentifier to your PC using the USB cable. The e.dentifier s USB port is on the underneath (as indicated alongside). Checking installation Your e.dentifier is connected to your PC. Now that installation is complete, three logos will appear on the e.dentifier s screen. You can check whether the logos appear by pressing the OK button on the e.dentifier. These logos will then disappear automatically. This indicates that installation has been successful. In that case you are ready for connected use. If there are less logos visible, download and install the software again. For more information check the frequently asked questions. Connected logging on to Internet Banking If you are still logged on, you can now log off at top right of the screen. Step 1: If you have not already done so, connect your e.dentifier to your PC with the USB cable. Step : Go to and select Log on. The system detects automatically that you are using an e.dentifier which is connected with a USB cable. Step : Step : Insert your bank card into the e.dentifier. Wait until the e.dentifier display shows PIN: _ Enter your PIN and then OK on your e.dentifier. The e.dentifier requests confirmation for logging on with your account number and card number. If you agree, press OK on the e.dentifier. Step : You are now logged on. You can now deal with your banking affairs in Internet Banking. Logging on and sending transactions in Internet Banking are separate steps. When you have finished your Internet Banking session, don t forget to log off on the right of the screen. You can now safely disconnect the e.dentifier from the PC.

5 Installing a software update Installation of an update (a new version of the e.dentifier software) will only happen infrequently. Only if there are major changes, will you be requested to install a new software version. You will receive this indication when you log on with the connected e.dentifier. Step 1: Download the software as described in the first section. Step : If you have selected Execute, continue with step. If you have stored the software, go to the location at which you have stored the software on your PC. Double click on the setup icon. Step : You will be asked whether you want to continue with the upgrade of the ABN AMRO e.dentifier software. Click on Yes. Step : Click on Next. Step : Click on Finish. Installation has been completed.

6 Removing the installed software To uninstall the software proceed as follows: Step 1: On your PC go to Start. Click on Programs. Click on ABN AMRO e.dentifier. Select Uninstall ABN AMRO e.dentifier. Step : Click on Yes. The software has been removed. 1 Frequently asked questions and help with installation I have connected my e.dentifier via the USB cable to the PC, but I cannot log on to the internet while connected in this way. Check whether three logos appear when you press the OK button on your connected e.dentifier. If this is the case, you can start a new internet page and go to If you see one or two logos appear on your e.dentifier screen, download and install the software again and then try to log on with the connected e.dentifier. 1 I see three logos appear on my connected e.dentifier when I press the OK button, but I cannot log on to Internet Banking with my e.dentifier connected. It is possible that the e.dentifier connected to your PC is not being recognised by your PC. The cause may be that your Smart Card service has been switched off. You can activate it as follows: Step 1: Click on the Windows Start menu and go to the Control Panel. On this screen select Administrative Tools and then Services. This contains the Smart Card service. Step : Double click on the Smart Card service as a result of which a new window will be opened with the features of the service. Under Startup type select the Automatic option. Click on OK.

7 I see one logo appear on my connected e.dentifier when I press the OK button. Check the USB cable in your PC and the e.dentifier. The USB cable connector may not have been fully pushed in, as a result of which the e.dentifier is not working properly. I see two logos appear on my connected e.dentifier when I press the OK button. The e.dentifier software may not have been correctly installed. Install the software again and then try to log on to Internet Banking with the linked e.dentifier. There is no software available to match my operating system. What do I do now? You can use the e.dentifier unconnected. There is no e.dentifier software on the PC on which I want to use Internet Banking. What do I do now? If you want to use Internet Banking on a computer on which the necessary software has not been installed, you can still continue to use the e.dentifier. It also works unconnected, i.e. without the USB cable. If you want to do this, all you have to do is disconnect the cable between the PC and the e.dentifier. Responsible use of the e.dentifier software On the internet page you will find a clear indication of everything you can do yourself to ensure that you use the internet and Internet Banking in a responsible manner. How can I see that the software that I want to install comes from ABN AMRO Bank? You can check the source of the installation software by saving the installation software on your computer and then opening the Properties of the package. You do so by clicking with your right-hand mouse button on the icon for the stored installation software. You then choose the bottom option Properties. Here you will see a tab with Digital signatures. If you click on this, the name of the signatory must be: ABN AMRO Bank N.V..
