1 SUPERVISORS FOR POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES by RESEARCH Healthcare & Life Sciences Programme: Master of Science (Vision Science) Research areas: Dry eye; Visual dysfunction in ocular disease; Optometric primary care role in community; Public Health Optometry Qualifications: Bachelor of Optometry (UNSW); Doctor of Philosophy (City London) Background/Experience: Prof. Azrin spent almost 20 years of his academic career at UKM as a tutor, lecturer and then Associate Professor in Optometry. He was Head of the Optometry Department at the then Faculty of Allied Health Sciences from 1996 to Prof Azrin is now the Dean of the Faculty of Optometry & Vision Sciences and Vice President (Academic) at SEGi University. His research has been mainly in clinical areas of optometry pertaining to visual function in diseased eyes. She runs the Low Vision Clinic at SEGi University and is actively involved with the low vision community in the Klang Valley. She has also worked as Educational Consultant with World Health Organisation, Bangladesh for uplifting the undergraduate and post graduate medical education in Bangladesh. She joined Universiti Sains Malaysia in 2001 and worked in the Department of Medical Education for more than 10 years. She was actively involved in teaching and supervision of post graduate students in USM. She has vast experiences in conducting Faculty development programmes Her publications include research books, guide books, manuals in medical education, articles in local and international journals, and contributions in magazines. She has presented papers at international and local conferences, seminars and workshops. 3 Background / Experience: She has served as a medical doctor in many districts hospital since She got the M Med Sc (OG) degree in 1995 and was posted as a consultant in many district hospitals. She got her doctorate degree in reproductive health in 2006 while being posted as a consultant in the Central Women Hospital in Yangon. She has worked as an associate professor at the University of Medicine, Magway, Myanmar and the University of Medicine (2), Yangon, Myanmar until she retired at She has held several posts in the district areas and was involved in clinical consultation, administration and academic matters. She was actively involved in the community medicine and public health services. She was also involved in supervision and teaching of the basic health staffs, nurses, interns and under- graduate medical students. Progressively, he was a lab demonstrator (Faculty of Science, UM, 2001), a tutor (Faculty of Medicine, UM, ) and presently a lecturer (Faculty of Medicine, SEGi University, 2010-current). 4 Research Areas: Cancer Epidemiology, Medical Statistics, Occupational Health and Safety, Medical Ethics Qualifications: MBBS (Dhaka University), PhD (Tohoku University) Background / Experience: Dr. Munira completed her undergraduate study in Bangladesh Medical College and graduated with Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree under Dhaka University in She was awarded the Rotary Yoneyama Memorial Foundation Scholarship to undertake her PhD study in Tohoku University Graduate School of Medicine, Japan from 2003 to Upon completion of her PhD, she joined in the Division of Epidemiology, National Cancer Center, Tokyo and served as a Research Resident Fellow for more than two years. Later, she was offered to work as a Therapeutic Area Physician with Oncology Research team in Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, Tokyo till Dr. Munira joined in Faculty of Medicine, SEGi University, Kota Damansara campus on July, 2013 as a Senior Lecturer of Public Health. Currently, she is the Coordinator of Elective Posting and Facilitator of Biostatistics Clinic for Mini Research for MBBS curriculum. Prior to joining SEGi, she was a Senior Lecturer in Monash University Malaysia and member of the Global Public Health interdisciplinary research strength. Dr. Munira is currently involved in research with particular interest in non-communicable diseases and serves as an invited reviewer for a number of international journals. She is also engaged with various professional associations. munira@segi.edu.my Research Areas: Neurology and Tropical Medicine Qualifications: MBBS ( Madras); DNB (Med) (New Delhi, India); FRCP (London); FRCP (Glasgow); FACTM, AB, FACP (USA); FIACM (India) Background / Experience: Dr. Neelakantan Viswanathan, a graduate of JIPMER, Pondicherry, is a Clinical Professor of Medicine and Tropical Medicine and has working experience in Clinical Neurology having been trained at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences, Bangalore, India. He is qualified in Internal and Tropical Medicine holding Fellowships in the same from India, UK and USA. He is an International Advisory Board Member for Kumar and Clark s Clinical Medicine and has contributed four chapters in the book and a chapter in Conn s

He is an MD and MBBS examiner for various Indian Universities He has been a Global Advisory Board Member for Cecil Text Book of Medicine (23 rd edition) and South Asia advisory board member for LWW publications in Medicine. He has 32 years of teaching experience. He has guided several postgraduates in their thesis work and also is a PhD guide. Dr. Viswanathan s interests involve the practice of Tropical Medicine and Neurology especially in the management of migraine and epilepsy. He is a recipient of numerous prestigious awards for his scientific accomplishments and for his contribution to expanding the frontiers of Medical Education in India. Dr. K.N.Viswanathan has also dealt with outreach programmes, organising camps in the rural areas with the help of his team of doctors and nurses in the hospital rendering free medical care to the needy, in India. Background / Experience: He has a Teaching experience of more than 30 years in teaching Human Anatomy to Medical Undergraduate and Postgraduate students of various Universities in India (Kanpur University, Banaras Hindu University,) and abroad (Nigeria, Libya, Nepal and Malaysia). He was a Visiting Professor of Anatomy to China (2006). He has published more than 40 abstracts and papers in different reputed Scientific Journals. He has actively participated and presented papers at international and regional conferences. He has received the Best paper award in Dental Conference, India (1990). He is a Life member of Anatomical Society of India, Life member of Association of Anatomists of Tamil Nadu and currently a member of Malaysian Anatomical Association.
