2 A/Prof Martin Veysey FRACP Chair, Curriculum Advisory Group Martin is a Gastroenterologist and an Associate Professor in Medicine and Public Health at the University of Newcastle. He is Chair of the first two years of the BMed program, and through his role as Clinical Dean of the Central Coast Clinical School at Gosford coordinates and teaches fourth and fifth year medical students. In addition to chairing the Curriculum Advisory Group, Martin chairs the Selection into Training Working Group and the Overseas Trained Physicians Committee for the College. He is also a member of the College Education Committee and the National Examining Panel. Dr Jon Ho Chan FAFRM Jon Ho is a Rehabilitation Medicine Physician at Fiona Stanley Hospital. He has been involved in medical education at undergraduate and prevocational levels through his roles as a Clinical Lecturer and Clinical Support Registrar. Jon Ho is a member of the Australasian Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine (AFRM) Faculty Training Committee and the AFRM Trainees He has a particular interest in workplace-based assessment, accreditation and the assessment of professionalism. Dr Terry Donald PSM, FRACP Terry is a Community Paediatrician specialising in Child Protection, based in Adelaide. He Chairs the College s Specialist Advisory Committee in Community Child Health and is the Child Protection Lead on the working group that is developing and piloting Entrustable Professional Activities in Community Child Health Advanced Training. He also co-chairs the Fellows in Difficulty Working Group and is the Chair of the Child Protection Special Interest Group of the Division of Paediatrics and Child Health. Terry is particularly interested in supervision and developing the teaching skills of supervisors. Dr Melanie Fentoullis Melanie is an Advanced Trainee in General Paediatrics, currently working as a Registrar at Sydney Children s Hospital. She has completed a Master of Medical Education and is an Associate Lecturer and Examiner with the University of New South Wales. Melanie is a trainee representative on the College s Paediatrics & Child Health Division Council, having previously held this role on the Paediatrics & Child Health Division Education Page 2
3 Dr N. Deborah Friedman FRACP Deb is an Infectious Diseases Physician, researcher, Deputy Director of General Medicine at Barwon Health and Senior Lecturer at Deakin University School of Medicine. She has been involved in the development of curricula at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Deb is an RACP Director of Physician Education at Barwon Health and a trained facilitator of the College s Supervisor Professional Development Program. She has a particular interest in the development of curricula, the assessment of trainees and defining the outcomes of physician training. A/Prof Michael Gabbett FRACP Michael is a Clinical Geneticist and Eminent Staff Specialist at Royal Brisbane & Women s Hospital. He is an Associate Professor at the Griffith University School of Medicine and a Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland. Michael is a member of the College s Specialist Advisory Committee in Clinical Genetics and co-authored the Clinical Genetics Advanced Training Curriculum. His other College roles include Chair of the 2015 Congress Organising Committee, Regional Examiner for the RACP Clinical Examination, and immediate past Chair and member of the Queensland State Prof Nicholas Glasgow FAChPM Nicholas is a general practitioner, palliative medicine specialist, and the Dean of Medicine and Health Sciences at the Australian National University (ANU). He has experience in curriculum development, medical education and training through his work at the ANU and other positions he has held at The University of Sydney, The University of Auckland, and The University of the United Arab Emirates. Nicholas has held national leadership roles on several Australian Government advisory councils, and he is the Vice President of the Medical Deans Australia and New Zealand A/Prof Matthew Links FRACP Matthew is a Medical Oncologist at St George and Sutherland Hospitals. He has active laboratory and clinical research interests through his appointment as a Conjoint Associate Professor with the University of New South Wales, as well as a major role in the improvement of cancer services through education. Matthew is extensively involved in College activities. He Chairs the College Continuing Professional Development committee, and is a member of numerous other College bodies including the College Education Committee, the Advanced Training Committee in Medical Oncology and the Revalidation Working Party. As well as supervising trainees, Matthew facilitates workshops to support College supervisors to develop their supervision skills. Page 3
4 A/Prof Lewis Marshall FAFPHM, FAChSHM Lewis is a Sexual Health Physician at Fremantle Hospital, a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Western Australia and an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Notre Dame Australia. He is also a Fellow of the Australasian Faculty of Public Health Medicine. Lewis Chairs the Australasian Chapter of Sexual Health Medicine (AChSHM) Education Committee and is a member of the AChSHM Chapter He is particularly interested in ensuring that changes to College curricula are realistic and achievable for education committees, trainees and supervisors. Dr Mick O Keeffe FRACP Mick began consultant life in 2002 as a Community and General Paediatrician, and has been working full time in Developmental and Behavioural Paediatrics since 2005, in both public and private practice in metropolitan Brisbane. Mick is a member of the Specialist Advisory Committee in Community Child Health and Lead Fellow for the pilot of Entrustable Professional Activities in Community Child Health Advanced Training. He has a particular interest in medical education and postgraduate specialty training, including competency-based training and tailored, novel assessment methods. He completed a Master s degree in Medical Education in A/Prof Stephen Opat FRACP, FRCPA Stephen is the Unit Head of Clinical Haematology at Monash Health and a staff specialist in the Department of Clinical Haematology and Bone Marrow Transplantation at The Alfred Hospital. He has an interest in medical education and research and is an Associate Professor in the Australian Centre for Blood Disease and the Department of Medicine at Monash University. Stephen was formerly Coordinator of Advanced Training on the Joint Specialist Advisory Committee in Haematology and has been appointed to the council of the Haematology Society of Australia and New Zealand. Dr Benjamin Rogers FRACP Benjamin is an Infectious Disease Physician and Clinical Researcher at Monash Health and has recently submitted a PhD. He supervises Basic Physician Trainees and mentors Advanced Trainees in Infectious Diseases, including supervising advanced training research projects. Benjamin has been an active member of the RACP Research Projects Working Group which has resulted in a set of streamlined research project requirements which will be implemented across all Advanced, Chapter and Faculty training programs. 5 Dr David Thomas FRACP David is a General Paediatrician and the Head of General Medicine at Women s and Children s Hospital, Adelaide. He has completed a Master in Education. David has been involved extensively in College committees, most recently as Co-Chair of the working group reviewing the Basic Training Curricula, Chair of the Paediatrics & Child Health Division Education Committee, and as a member of the College Education He has fifteen years experience as a Director of Paediatric Education and is a Senior Examiner for the RACP Clinical Examination. Dr Paul Timmings FRACP Paul is a Neurologist at Waikato Hospital (Hamilton, New Zealand) and Senior Lecturer at Auckland University Waikato Clinical Campus. He recently completed his MD by doctoral thesis in Paul is a member of the New Zealand Specialist Advisory Committee in Neurology and a member of the Neurological Subcommittee of the Pharmaceutical & Therapeutics Advisory He was previously a member of the RACP Research Projects Working Group and the Research Projects Peer Review Group. He plays active roles in undergraduate, postgraduate year 1 and 2, and registrar teaching. Prof Tim Wilkinson FRACP Tim is director of the MBChB program, Professor in Medicine and Associate Dean (Medical Education) at the University of Otago. He has completed a Master in Clinical Education, a PhD on the educational impact of a change to standards based assessment in a medical course, and an MD on programmatic assessment. He is a deputy editor of Medical Education and section editor of BMC Medical Education. He also works as a consultant physician in geriatric medicine. Tim s research interests are assessment of clinical competence and performance, workplace learning, selection into medical school, and professionalism.
