On the occasion of the first solo Indigenous artist to represent Australia in Venice this program aims to provide a platform for curators, arts writers and arts professionals to develop skills and deepen their vocational experience. It aims to build the profile of not only the exhibiting artist, but also that of our vibrant visual arts sector in NSW and Australia. The Professional Development Program: Enables participants to look at and experience a wide range of contemporary art practice, to stimulate new ways of presenting, discussing and working with contemporary art and ideas for possible future projects and collaborations Provides a valuable opportunity to develop international contacts with peers and a range of supporters of contemporary visual arts Allows the participants to gain experience in an international context and to consolidate and share these experiences with sector peers upon their return to Australia.
