3 THE INSTITUTE:- The State Institute of Agriculture Extension and Training (SIAET), Bhadbhada Road, Barkhedi Kalan, Bhopal (M.P.) is setup in 2006 by the Department of Farmers Welfare and Agriculture Development, Govt. of Madhya Pradesh. The SIAET is located in a seven acre campus in the municipal area Bhadbhada Road, Bhopal (M.P.), 10 Km. away from Bhopal & Habibganj Railway Station and also Bhopal Nadra Bus stand & ISBT, Habibganj. The campus provides an ambience of the functional efficiency with modern and comfortable infrastructure and services. The greenery of sprawling lawns, colorfull seasional flowerbeds and density of trees all over the campus highlight the institute's proximity with nature. It was initiated as a State response to address various challenges in delivery of services to the farmers. To provide adequate flexibility of operation, the Institute was registered as an Autonomous Society under the Madhya Pradesh Society Registration Act The mandate of SIAET is to assist the Agriculture and allied Departments to help improve their delivery systems through up gradation skills of Extension Personnel. State Institute of Agriculture Extension & Training (SIAET) is an apex institute for Agriculture Extension and Training for agriculture and allied departments.in order to ensure regular training and skill upgradation of State and District / Block level extension functionaries and for reaching out to the grass root level extension functionaries and farmers through field visits for Implementation of Agriculture Extension Reforms Schemes (ATMA) in State M.P. The Institute undertakes various activities such as Training, Consulting, Documentation,Third Party Monitoring, Impact Study of different projects on their needs and function as Agri information dissemination centre. As a part of the training activity, it conducts a series of training programmes, workshops, seminars and study visits of various categories of personnel on key theme areas as appropriate in the present context. It also undertakes specialized tailor made programme, depending on the need of the organization, based on request on payment basis. The SIAET is also conducting Post Graduate Diploma in Agricultural Extension Management (PGDAEM) for Extension functionaries in distance learning mode and Diploma in Agricultural Extension Services for Input Dealers (DAESI) a one year diploma programme which imparts formal agricultural education to the input dealers franchise with National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE), Hyderabad. The activities of SIAET cover all the stake holders in agricultural development including public private sector organizations, voluntary organizations, farmers organization and groups, private extension consultants, agri-business organizations and cooperatives apart from State M.P. 3
4 MANDATES :- 1. To work as State Nodal Agency for Implementation of Agricultural Extension Reforms Scheme ATMA. 2. To work as an apex institute for Agriculture Extension and Training for agriculture and allied departments. 3. To organize training programmes for various cadres of agriculture and allied departments as per their training needs. 4. To organize skill development training programmes for extension personnel. 5. To prepare project plan and documentation. 6. To provide consultancy for implementation of various schemes and programmes in agriculture and allied sector. 7. To disseminate agricultural informations for sustainable agricultural development. 8. To organize workshops and seminars. 9. To prepare and publish literature, audio, video and small films in agriculture and allied sector. 10. To do impact evaluation study for various implemented projects as per requirement. 11. To organize study visit programmes for extension functionaries of agriculture and allieds. 12. FACILITIES :- Well furnished air conditioned seated 04 class rooms, 65 seated conference hall and meeting hall with multi media presentations (LCD Computers) Air conditioned IT lab with 20 terminal Library facilities available at campus In order to comfortable stay this institute has two hostels i.e. Narmada and Tapti with accommodation capacity of 164 persons. A 260 seated auditorium under construction Arrays of indoor and outdoor recreation facilities are available to participants 4

11 ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES The State Institute of Agriculture Extension & Training (SIAET) has the mandate of taking up capacity building programmes for extension personnel of Agriculture and allied departments. The Institute has organized a two days Training Need Assessment (T.N.A.) Workshop on dated January, 2014 participating with the senior officers, extension functionaries from Agriculture and allied departments,directorate of Extension of Jawahar Lal Nehru Krishi Vishwa Vidhyalaya Jabalpur and Mata Vijaya Raje Scindhiya Krishi Vishwa Vidhyalaya Gwalior, Agriculture Scientists and representatives from other management institutions to find out the training needs for extension functionaries for their respective departments. On the recommendation of T.N.A. Workshop the training program has been designed.
