1 Domestic Freight Transport Services Summary The domestic freight transportation industry is estimated to grow at a CAGR of per cent, from Rs 1,932 billion currently to Rs 3,386 billion by , mainly driven by gradual revival in economic and industrial activities. Roads are expected to continue to dominate the industry with an increasing presence in non-bulk transportation, while rail is expected to continue dominance in the bulk segment. Modal share is influenced by freight cost, impact of increase in firstmile/last-mile cost, changes in lead distances and infrastructure. As these costs are expected to increase at a far higher rate than freight rates, multiple handling is expected to influence shift towards roads over the medium term.
