1 Essential Oil FAQ Thank you for your interest in doterra essential oils! I m so excited to share them with you- they have been incredibly helpful to my family in so many ways. I get a lot of questions about my love for essential oils, so I ve decided to place all of the answers in one easy-to-find document. 2 FAQ Q: What are essential oils? A: Essential oils are volatile compounds distilled from the bark, leaves, roots, flowers, and fruit of plants. They are naturally occurring substances that are not produced in a laboratory. Q: But seriously do they REALLY work? A: Yes! They aren t snake oil and they aren t placebos. There is scientific research to show how and why they work it s pretty fascinating stuff. (Check out if you are in the mood to do some reading!) Because our bodies are all so different, some oils work better for some folks than others, and sometimes a bit of experimentation is required. Q: How does one use essential oils? A: There are three main ways to use oils: Aromatic Use This is the option that initially comes to mind when most of us think of essential oils. Oils can be diffused into the air to purify and freshen it as well as improving the moods and emotional states of those in the vicinity. Topical Use Our skin is our largest organ and it absorbs what we put on it. Essential oils can be applied all over the body to provide a variety of therapeutic benefits. I recommend using a fatty oil (carrier oil) such as olive oil, almond oil, or fractionated coconut oil to dilute most essential oils before applying them especially oils such as cinnamon or peppermint which are hot oils. Never place essential oils in your eyes or ears. Internal Use Some essential oils can be ingested either for medicinal benefits or as a flavoring in foods. All doterra oils that are considered to be Generally Regarded As Safe (GRAS) for ingestion will have the FDA Supplement label information printed directly on the label. Because they are so potent, use caution when ingesting essential oils and never ingest oils that are not 100% pure.

3 Q: I just applied an essential oil to my skin and now it s burning! What do I do? A: Rub a fatty oil (carrier oil) such as coconut oil, olive oil, almond oil, or apricot oil on the area to dilute the oil. Never try to wash a sensitive area with water as the water will drive the oil deeper into the skin. I recommend using carrier oils when applying essential oils topically especially if you have sensitive skin. Q: How much of XYZ oil should I use and how often? A: It depends. Essential oils aren t like conventional pharmaceuticals, so there aren t really one-size-fits-all dosage suggestions. Every person is different. I suggest starting off small and repeating as needed until you figure out what your body prefers. Keep in mind that essential oils are incredibly potent and less is usually more. Q: What is doterra? A: doterra was founded in 2008 by a group of executives looking to create a new standard in the essential oil industry. It is now the largest essential oil company in the world and is committed to providing families and individuals with natural healthcare solutions. Q: Is doterra a pyramid scheme? A: No. doterra is a very reputable direct-sales company with a proven track record. When you think about the complexities of essential oils, the direct-sales model totally makes sense. It would be hard to do these oils justice if they were just sitting on store shelves. doterra chose the network-marketing approach over traditional advertising to provide users with the ultimate network of mentors, knowledge, and support. Q: Are there any business opportunities with doterra? A: Yes! There are countless families, including my own, making an income by sharing doterra products.

4 Q: I m not interested in selling the oils I just want to purchase some for my own use. Is that a possibility? A: Absolutely! There are several different purchasing options available I ve included more detail info on that below. Q: Why did you choose doterra over XYZ Company? A: If you spend much time online, then you ve probably run across folks debating the topic of essential oil companies. It s my policy not to trash-talk other companies, because there are so many other productive ways to spend time! But in a nutshell, here is why I m sticking with doterra: 1) doterra is ultra-committed to producing the highest-quality essential oils possible. I also love that they source their oils from their native environments all over the world. This results in a superior oil AND supports local economies all over the globe. 2) The company is spectacular to work with the customer service rocks, the executives are some of the most genuine people I ve ever seen, the compensation plan is unparalleled, and the support and training is out-of-thisworld. Q: What does CPTG stand for? A: Certified-Pure Therapeutic Grade. This is a term that is exclusive to doterra. Because no official standards for the essential oil industry exist, doterra uses the CPTG designation to represent their high-standards of purity and quality-control. Every batch of doterra essential oils undergo 5 different tests by a third-party laboratory to ensure that they absolutely pure, free of pesticides and chemicals, and above and beyond organic standards. Q: What does PV stand for? A: PV stands for product volume. It is a point system that is used for all doterra products. For all the essential oils, $1 = 1 PV. However, some of the other items (such as skincare or toothpaste) have a slightly different ratio. If you are trying to

5 qualify for a promotion, just be sure to check the PV total in your shopping cart before you check out, as it may be slightly different that than dollar amount total. Q: What does IPC stand for? A: Independent Product Consultant. An IPC account is the same thing as a wholesale account. It allows you to save 25% on everything you order, plus you have the ability to sign up others and earn commissions. However, selling is NOT a requirement as an IPC (there are NO minimums) and many folks sign up with this option even if they simply want to purchase oils for their own family. Q: What is the Loyalty Rewards Program? A: The Loyalty Rewards Program (or LRP) is a monthly autoship program that gives you the absolute maximum savings for purchasing doterra products. The LRP is entirely optional, but I HIGHLY recommend it. (Because who doesn t like saving money, right?) See below for a more detailed description of this program. Q: How can I save the MOST on my doterra orders? Q: Signing up with a wholesale account and the Loyalty Rewards Program will save you from 35% to 55% on every single one of your orders. That is the best possible way to purchase doterra oils and products.

6 How to Purchase doterra Essential Oils Ready to begin your journey to natural health solutions? There are three easy ways to introduce doterra into your lifestyle: Option #1: Sign up with a Wholesale/Consultant (IPC) Account You ll receive: 1) The deepest discount: 25% savings on everything you purchase no minimums. 2) The ability to earn commissions & bonuses and build a team 3) The ability to earn free products and qualify for promotions. 4) Access to our private team Facebook page where you can ask questions and get support. 5) Access to over $500 worth of free training videos at 6) A free wellness consult (via phone) with one of my team leaders. A wholesale/consultant account costs $35 per year. There are no minimums for either buying or selling. There are variety of enrollment kits available when you sign up. These are optional, but highly recommended since they give you a good sampling of oils to start out with plus your enrollment fee is included in the price. I started with the Premium Essentials Kit (which also comes with a diffuser). My other favorite option is the Home Essentials Kit which includes 10 bottles of the oils I use the most. 7 Option #2: Sign up as a Preferred Member You ll receive: 1) 20% savings on everything you purchase. 2) Access to our private team Facebook page where you can ask questions and get support. A Preferred Member account costs $10 for a lifetime membership. There are no purchasing minimums. Option #3: Purchase products as a retail customer To be honest, I don t really recommend this option because it is the most expensive way to purchase oils from doterra. Generally, you can pay for the cost of a wholesale account or Preferred Membership in the money you save in your first order. However, if you would like to order from my website without any sort of membership, this option is available.

8 The Loyalty Rewards Program (LRP) The Smartest Way to Buy doterra The Loyalty Rewards Program is a monthly autoship that allows you to accrue points when you place a consistent order each month. Independent Product Consultants who participate in the Loyalty Rewards Program get wholesale pricing PLUS an additional 10-30% of their total purchase in FREE product credits. I have personally earned well over $1000 in free oils since I joined the Loyalty Rewards Program (and that doesn t even include all the free Products of the Month I ve received!) The Loyalty Rewards Program is not required, but it is without a doubt the best way to maximize your savings as you incorporate doterra oils, products, and supplements into your daily routine. FAQs About the Loyalty Rewards Program Q: Is the Loyalty Rewards program required? A: No it is an optional add-on to Preferred Member and IPC (wholesale) accounts. (It is not available to retail customers) Q: Can I cancel my account? A: Sure just give doterra customer service a call if you wish to no longer participate in the program. Just make sure to first redeem any points you ve accrued, so you don t lose them. Q: What percentage will I start out with? A: It depends. If you purchase one of the larger kits, (such as the Premium Essentials Kit or Oil Sharing Kit) you get the added benefit of starting at the 15-

9 20% level. If you choose not to purchase a kit, or add the LRP to your account at a later date, you ll start at the 10% level and increase 5% every 3 months up to 30% Q: What if my budget is lean during a particular month and I can t afford to place an order? A: If you can t swing a 50 PV or 100 PV order but still want to stay in the program, simply place an order of any kind even a $10 bottle of lemon or a tube of chapstick. Although your percentage won t increase that month, your points will be maintained and your membership will remain. Q: What does it cost to enroll in the LRP? A: Nothing! It s absolutely free to join, and you can start at any time during your membership. Q: How do I qualify for the Product of the Month? A: Place a LRP order of at least 125 PV before the 15th of the month. The free product will be added to your order automatically. (The product offered changes from month-to-month) Q: How do I redeem my product credits? A: Use your back office to redeem your points or call doterra at to place your redemption order. You will be asked to pay for shipping, as well as a $3 handling fee for each 100 points you redeem.
