1 KHDW FEBRUARY COMPETITION NEWSLETTER 2013 Dear Parents and Dancers, So many exciting and amazing opportunities are happening at KHDW! Great job Kylie, Kelsea, Larissa, Kaden and Sayler at the Auditions for America s Got Talent!!! What an awesome experience! We will not know anything until later, however we have also signed contracts that we can not talk about it =( The following numbers (very last minute) competed in Grand Rapids, MI on January, 26 and yes it was for the filming of Dance Moms!!! The following is important information as our competition season is about to begin!!!!! ALL COMPETITION FEES AND COSTUME BALANCES DUE All fees are due!!! Please check your portals.

2 DRESS REHEARSAL Attached is a schedule for our dress rehearsal scheduled on WEDNESDAY, FEB. 20 AT THE PAC. Please make sure you have paid your $10 fee, it is posted on your portal as well! TIGHTS Tight order forms are in the Feb. newsletter. Please order your tights ASAP, so they will be in for our dress rehearsal and competition. All dancers will also need a nude colored, clear strap bra. BIRTH CERTIFICATES I must have a copy of all birth certificates on file for proof of age. If this is your first year of competition, please turn it in to the front desk before the March competition. If I do not have the birth certificate your child will not be able to compete, as we would be disqualified if there were a dispute about the age category we were in. COMPETITION ATTIRE Attached is an order form for COMPETITION GEAR!!! The design is super cute and will be displayed as soon as the artwork is approved. We have t-shirts for Dancers, Mom s, and Dad s. The Mom s and Dancers have a list of all the competition dances with a star beside them. I thought they would be cute for you to put a rhinestone beside all of the dances you are in =) IN ORDER FOR US TO HAVE THEM FOR OUR FIRST COMPETITION, ORDERS MUST BE TURNED IN BY THURSDAY, FEB. 21..NO EXCEPTIONS!!! COMPETITION MAKE UP KITS Make up kits are at Rhythm-n-Shoes. All dancers need a make up kit, it is the same as last year except WE ARE WEARING PINK GLITTER THIS YEAR ON OUR LIPS!!! THIS IS NEW AND MUST BE PICKED UP IN THE SHOPPE, it should be arriving soon!!! You will need your own foundation and mascara. HOW TO APPLY COMPETITION MAKE-UP CLASS Classes will be at the studio in Rhythm-n-Shoes. Olivia will be doing a make up demonstration and going over the hair style we will be wearing. Classes are as follows: Monday, Feb. 11 at 5:30 Tuesday, Feb 12 at 5:00 Wednesday, Feb. 13 at 7:15 Thursday, Feb. 14 at 6:00 Make sure you have your earrings and eyelashes too!!!

3 HAIR All classes are going to wear their hair with a 1 inch part over the left eyebrow and slicked to the sides and then a bump on top with hair in a low side ponytail to the right. (Some classes may be slightly different due to hats, wigs, etc). Don t panic about hair, that is why we have a dress rehearsal! EXTRA REHEARSALS IF WE NEED ANY EXTRA REHEARSALS I WILL LET YOU KNOW ASAP! ATTENDANCE I cannot stress the importance of attendance at all practices this time of year!! Please make sure you are at all classes. Also, the week before competition it is mandatory all dancers are there, if you are absent you will not be able to compete. ALL STAR EXTRAVAGANZA IS BACK AGAIN!! APRIL 13 WILL BE THE ALL STAR EVENT AT THE STUDIO, WE WILL BE HAVING MANY VENDORS AND BOOTHS SET UP!!! STAY TUNED FOR DETAILS!!! They will not be helping with costume changes or make up, each parent is responsible for their own child.

5 COMPETITION DRESS REHEARSAL We will be having a dress rehearsal at the PAC ON WEDNESDAY, FEB. 20TH. We will be wearing full costume to make sure everything is fitting correctly and is secured. You do not need make-up, but hair should be done with the appropriate accessories. Please be on time, as we are on a tight schedule and MAKE SURE EVERYTHING IS LABELED!!!!!! We will be using the dressing rooms. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU CLEAN UP YOUR STUFF. LAST YEAR IT WAS LEFT A MESS!!!!! This rehearsal will give moms and team moms a good idea of the backstage chaos=) If you are not sure of the name of your dances or your child s PLEASE BE SURE TO ASK!!!
