4 Kauri Cliffs Lodge, Bay of Islands Already world-famous for its breathtaking golf course on the east coast of sub tropical Northland, Kauri Cliffs has also forged a reputation for excellence in dining and luxury accommodation. 5 Day 1 Arrive Auckland, New Zealand Bay of Islands Kauri Cliffs Lodge Upon arrival into Auckland you will be met by your local Seasonz guide and transferred by private vehicle to the Domestic Terminal for your departing flight to Kerikeri in the Bay of Islands. Before you depart your guide will go over your itinerary and answer any questions you may have. Fly Auckland to Kerikeri. Upon arrival into Kerikeri you will be transferred by private vehicle to Kauri Cliffs Lodge. This is a transfer of approximately 30 minutes. On arrival at the lodge enjoy a Round of Golf at Kauri Cliffs. A magnificent golf course set high on the cliff tops with panoramic sea vistas for 180 degrees. This course is reminiscent of Pebble Beach. Fifteen holes view the Pacific Ocean, six of which are played alongside cliffs which plunge to the sea. The beautiful inland holes wind through marsh, forest and farmland. Designed and built by David Harman of Golf Course Consultants, the par 72 championship golf course has it all - length, variety, and unique challenges! This is a transfer of approximately 1 hour. 6 Day 3 Bay of Islands Today is at your leisure. You may like to choose from the following optional activities: Enjoy another round of Golf at Kauri Cliffs. Northland Helicopter Excursion and Quad Bike B Adventure Private Helicopter Excursion over Northland & Quad Biking at 90 Mile Beach Adventure: Fly over the Bay of Islands right up to Cape Reinga, the northern most point in New Zealand. You will see giant sand dunes of pure white silica sand fringed by crystal clear water. Your helicopter will land in Houhora, where you will check in for your quad biking excursion. Quad bike through Apuri Forest and its tranquil pine trees on your way to 90 Mile Beach s famous vast stretch of sand. In the forest, make sure you keep a look out for wild horses running freely! Once on the beach enjoy breathtaking panoramic views and ride along the white sand. On conclusion of the Quad Biking you will be transferred back to Kauri Cliffs by helicopter. Nature Walks: There are some beautiful walks on the Lodge s 6000-acre property that range from a 10-minute bush walk, which takes in the magnificent Kauri Tree ( years old) to two hours that includes the waterfall. The lodge can provide you with a snack pack that includes light refreshments and other essentials. There are some magical spots to visit. The Waterfall at Kauri Cliffs Pink Beach: Only a short distance from the Kauri Cliffs lodge, Pink Beach gets its name from the tiny rose-colored shells that cover the ground. The rocky crags and inlets are covered by huge Pohutukawa Trees (also known as the New Zealand Christmas Tree). This gorgeous beach is great for shelling and perfect for picnics. 7 Horse Riding on the Beach Horse Riding: A unique and exhilarating way to see the Bay of Islands is on horseback. Explore Kauri Station and its surrounds on magnificent gentle horses, picking your way through native forest and our working farm to the beach, where you can ride on the sand and then enjoy a picnic lunch. Alternately you can join your guide on her farm in Kerikeri where you can ride in the sand arena, explore the cross-country course or trek over the easy rolling farm with tracks, forested areas and wide open spaces to ride through. You will be matched with a suitable horse or pony depending on your size and ability. This is a transfer of approximately 45 minutes. This afternoon enjoy a Round of Golf at Cape Kidnappers, a simply stunning Tom Doak golf course and sister course to Kauri Cliffs in the Bay of Islands. This par 71 course is not like anywhere else in golf with holes positioned on the cliff edge, dropping away to the waves far below in Hawke s Bay. 8 Day 5 Hawke s Bay This morning you will be met at the lodge by your local Seasonz guide to enjoy the Best of the Bay Tour. On the very sands of a glorious Hawke s Bay wilderness beach resides an extraordinary Maori elder (kuia), Orine, who lives an inspired life in the rhythms and age old customs of the Maori culture. On her land experience a formal welcome (powhiri). Enjoy a unique Cultural Experience Delve into Maori life, both past and contemporary. Listen to her fascinating reality how things are and what is important to their family, their connection to their land, the importance of whakapapa (lineage) and life amongst her people. Spend time with this inspirational woman, carrying the mana (respect), courage and relentlessness to keep the culture alive. Lunch will be at a coastal winery, Clearview Estate, where you will meet the owner/winemaker Tim Turvey. Tim is an excellent award winning winemaker with character to match! Clearview Estate is a small boutique winery famous for its Chardonnays, big reds and dessert wines. After lunch visit one of New Zealand s celebrated Maori artists, Ema Scott, in her studio discover views of how her work is a tangible expression of an unbroken chain of uncertainty, linking through to their ancestors and ultimately to the source of all creation. Vines in the Hawke s Bay Napier Hawke s Bay, being the fruit bowl of New Zealand, offers some wonderful food artisans to visit. This is a transfer of approximately 25 minutes. Lift off to enjoy a Milford Sound Helicopter Excursion with Glacier Landing. Your flight sweeps through the Southern Alps, over the secluded alpine lakes and lush forest of Fiordland National Park. You will fly the full length of the fiord before reaching the rugged West Coast with several landings enroute where you may like to take a stroll on a glacier or black sand beach. Enjoy a picnic lunch at a wilderness site high in the mountains! On conclusion of your excursion, you will land at Jack s Point. The Milford Sound Helicopter Excursion is a must!
