1 York County thanks you for recycling. Everyone needs to participate in order for the program to be successful. One person can t save the earth, but we can all work together to make a big difference. York County Solid Waste Collection & Recycling offers many opportunities for recycling, and the 16 Collection & Recycling Centers are available for all York County residents. Staff members at each site are available to answer questions. Our goal is to make recycling easy for you. Blue recycling bags are available free of charge at each of the 16 sites for you to use. Simply put your recyclables in the bag, drop it off, and receive another free bag. With the recycle bag, you don t have to keep materials sorted. We do that for you. Recycling has many environmental benefi ts. It reduces the need to build landfi lls, conserves natural resources, and saves energy. Recycling also has many economic benefi ts. Recyclables have value. The recyclables that you bring to the Collection & Recycling Center end up on the market as commodities that are bought and sold. By turning waste into valuable raw materials, recycling creates jobs, builds more competitive manufacturing industries, and adds to the economy. Thank you for doing your part. By telling your friends and family to recycle, you can help spread the word and make York County a better place. For more information and to learn about upcoming and special events, visit Thank you for Recycling! York County Recycling 1

7 Festivals, fairs, concerts and sporting events bring communities together. Unfortunately, they also generate large amounts of trash. The good news is that much of this waste is recyclable. York County Solid Waste Collection & Recycling along with Keep York County Beautiful, provide an opportunity for event organizers and volunteers to reduce waste going into the landfill, reduce the potential for litter, generate community goodwill and reducing waste disposal costs. How? We offer Recycling On-the-Go, a recycling bin loan program for York County organizations that want to recycle bottles, cans and jugs at local events. The collapsible bin with a transparent bag enables the public to identify it as a recycling bin versus a litter receptacle. Call our office at to reserve yours! Thank you for recycling! It is an easy process of submitting an agreement form for approval of the roadway. As part of the agreement, the volunteer group is committed to clean up the roadway at least four times per year over a two-year period. The program provides volunteers with bags, vests and recognition sign, as well as collection of filled bags from the roadway. The mission of Keep York County Beautiful is to foster and preserve natural beauty, protect the environment, prevent blight, improve public lands, prevent litter, and make York County communities a better and safer place to live through diverse programs, volunteers, educational intiatives, innovative tools and creative solutions. Help Stop Littering If you see someone littering, you can report them online at or by calling LITTER. You can remain anonymous. Take note of the date and time; the car make, model and color; the location; and the type of litter. Did you know that unsecured loads are the number one source of litter and is illegal? Operating a vehicle from which a load is blowing, falling, dropping, sifting, leaking or otherwise escaping is a crime punishable by a maximum of $1,087 fine or imprisonment for up to one year or both. Every conviction will carry litter pick-up community service. Together, we can protect and enhance our beautiful landscapes. We can promote economic tourism. We can strengthen the health of our environment. love where you live 8 York County Recycling Thank you for Recycling!
