2 Ladies and Gentlemen, As Mr Klefenz indicated, Bosch Packaging Technology is presenting a number of market changing innovations here at Anuga FoodTec in Cologne. Our focus is on two lines for cleanfill applications. These technologies complement Bosch s established portfolio of aseptic solutions, which will be of greater importance in the coming years as consumers are increasingly looking for highquality food. We are responding to these needs with equipment for a variety of applications. Ultrasonic sealing, thermoforming and new packaging materials are just some examples of our ability to package food with even greater care, thus maintaining the quality of the product. At the same time, we are setting new standards regarding economic requirements fully in line with our customers needs. We have therefore designed our lines to be easily accessible to minimize changeover time. One example is the new TFC Thermoforming clean-fill machine. For this development we have leveraged our over 40 years of experience in thermoforming technology and taken it one step further. Now we are also providing a solution for cold chain products, such as yogurt and desserts. Right from the start of the development stage, we paid careful attention to operating height, accessibility and hygienic design. The film track runs at a height of just one meter. All formatting equipment is easily accessible and specially designed to facilitate cleaning and changeover operations. The new development also includes an automatic bander that allows 2 of 5

3 adjustment of the cup and banderole heights without format changes. With this new design, we have succeeded at minimizing downtime caused by changeovers. The operating team can be trained quickly to carry out standard operations in a few easy steps. With this generation of machines, we also offer technology for flexible labeling while production is in progress. The combination of flexible package design and significantly reduced changeover and maintenance costs provides the user with substantial economic benefits compared to existing machines. We therefore expect that many customers will prefer and switch to the standard set by us. Another entirely new development is our SurePOUCH packaging style. Here we combine years of expertise in vertical flow wrappers with a variety of filling technologies for liquid and viscous products. At the core is our SurePOUCH product family flexible stand-up pouches produced with our SPC machine range. We offer two formats Retail for individual consumption and Food Service for professional use, holding quantities from 100 milliliters to five liters. We offer manufacturers to the retail sector flexibility for a number of applications through our range of packaging styles EZGable, EZPouch and EZSquare. For professional end users in Food Service, the EZPillow packaging style, which can hold up to 20 liters, offers fast and convenient re-filling. All packaging styles are produced, filled, sealed and equipped with a spout by the same machine. This is a unique way of 3 of 5

4 giving our customers more flexibility. Manufacturers have the option to expand their product portfolio at a later date without having to radically modify their production line. SurePOUCH is suitable not only for clean-fill packaging of still drinks and water, but also dairy products and concentrates, soups, sauces and dressings. SurePOUCH can also be used for dry bulk goods like flakes, powders, rice and coffee. The new SPC machine is capable of filling a variety of products while achieving hygiene standards up to ultra clean-fill. As the product is filled directly into the pouch without using a spout, contamination can largely be eliminated. The SurePOUCH product family uses a closure that only comes into contact with the product when the consumer opens the package. The closures, which are welded with ultrasonic technology, can be positioned in various locations, and are also available in a choice of sizes. This provides a high degree of flexibility in packaging design and application. The SurePOUCH system also allows the filling of viscous liquids with up to 25,000 Centipoises as well as particulates with diameters of up to 25 millimeters at a very low destruction rate. In addition, the SPC machine is characterized by a very small footprint. Besides the SPC machine, Bosch also supplies the closures and flexible films for SurePOUCH packages. These ensure the high quality of sealing seams and the packaging as a whole while providing easy product handling, storage and dosing. 4 of 5

5 The pouch is made of flexible material and therefore presents great benefits like high residual discharge levels as well as foldability for efficient disposal. SurePOUCH films are made of lightweight plastics and are much thinner compared to cartons, metal containers and cans. This means that system costs and energy consumption for production and transportation are significantly lower. In comparison to alternative packaging concepts, the SurePOUCH can achieve weight savings of up to 80 percent. The new flexible design also often contributes to better volume utilization than that achieved with rigid containers. The next step is a flexible type of packaging in the aseptic area. As some of you may know, we have been working on this technology for some time. But we are not happy with the results yet. Our aim Packaged as promised also applies to this highly demanding technical segment. Our customers are entitled to the Bosch quality to which they are accustomed. We are ensuring this by investing more time and resources in this sophisticated development effort.
