3 griffith.edu Fast-paced, competitive global markets mean business and public leaders need to understand international trends, contemporary issues and remain flexible to stay ahead. The global financial crisis demonstrated the need for well-trained, ethical and responsible leaders who not only understand what is happening but also can inspire confidence in business and markets. Furthermore, climate change, global warming and widespread environmental degradation indicate the importance of focussing on issues which relate to our planet as well as profit. Griffith Business School is committed to education and research that addresses these global concerns. Committed to developing global citizens through its education programs, and to producing outstanding research, Griffith Business School has a highly qualified faculty who remain in touch with industry and professional needs. We provide opportunities for our students to engage with industry and to have an international experience through exchange and internship programs. Our degrees and programs are recognised nationally and internationally, and our senior researchers are leaders in their fields. Griffith Business School, through its teaching and research programs, seeks to ensure that its graduates and partners are prepared for the ever-changing world in which responsible business and public leadership is critical. Professor Michael Powell Pro Vice Chancellor (Business)

10 GLOBAL OPPORTUNITIES Through student-centred teaching, Griffith Business School encourages students to become part of the University community and benefit from the support found there. We recognise that while completing a degree is a major achievement, achieving the desired career outcome at the end is the ultimate goal. Many students are interested in broadening their university experience by completing an international exchange program with a partner university, or completing a semester of their degree on a study abroad program. Our programs help graduates get into the workforce faster, by providing opportunities to gain important hands-on experience as part of their studies. Through our Work Integrated Learning programs and key industry links, students can put what they learn into practice, and begin to make contacts that can take them anywhere. I was able to put my knowledge from my marketing degree into practice in the office which has given me a valuable insight into the international business world. It was incredible to complete my internship with a company that hosted the largest energy trade fair in Europe. Chelsea Myers Ruhr Valley Intern Advanced Management program MBA students have the opportunity to participate annually in the European Summer School of Advanced Management (ESSAM) program in Denmark. This program provides a unique opportunity for MBA students to study overseas, and be exposed to different cultures, business Undergraduate Global Mobility Internship Committed to developing global citizens, Griffith Business School offers students the opportunity to acquire valuable hands-on experience on an international platform with our Undergraduate Global Mobility Internship Program. Students gain a greater awareness of the realities and requirements of industry in an everchanging global setting, and increase their employment opportunities with practical workplace interaction.

11 CONNECTING WITH INDUSTRY Griffith s Industry Mentoring Program assists the transition of students from study to graduate work by facilitating in-depth understanding of potential employers, work roles and workplaces relevant to their degrees. It aims to expand the employer base for Griffith graduates by providing an avenue of involvement for Griffith alumni and people who have no previous association with the University. The Program is conducted during second semester (August to October), and links undergraduate students (who have completed 80 Credit Points or eight courses) and postgraduate students with experienced professionals from similar career fields. I met my mentor every few weeks and he gave me exposure to the practical side of the industry, as well as support and advice.
