7 The Campus Development Plan Summary Walk through of the Plan: Evolution of existing master plan based on sustainable development principles. Resolution of traffic access issues, on-site car parking, public transport and pedestrian safety. A series of major new projects to allow UCD fulfil its potential for the County and for Ireland. Enhancement of the perimeter woodlands and major evolution of general landscape design strategy.

14 Geo-plotting Campus Community Approximately 2,000 students live within Belfield, with a further 4,000 within walking distance of Belfield Nearly 13,000 students and staff live within cycle distance (5km) of the Campus, with approximately 7,000 more living between 5km and 10km 5km and 10km catchments from Belfield Campus

17 UCD Belfield Commuting Facilities Commuting facilities are the core plank in the current commuting framework as supported by the campus development plan. It is envisaged that the existing surface car parks (23acres) will be replaced with commuting facilities These facilities will not only address the reduction in car parking but improve facilities for all modes of commuter.
