1 Dear Parents and Carers, August 27, 2015 A busy week with lots of extra-curricular activities, we started off the week with our basketballers winning the year 3 / 4 Hooptime competition. Followed by a Book Week presentation. Ice skating on Tuesday and Book Week dress up day yesterday! This Sunday we celebrate Confirmation with our year six students and their families. Everyone will deserve a sleep-in on the weekend. Yesterday s dress up day & Book Week Presentation the BEST one this year. Special thanks to the mums and some dads who assisted in getting their children in costumes. There were some very creative costumes depicting the many characters that we encounter in books. There are many to thank for their efforts, but I will just thank the children for the great way they embraced the day. Birthday wishes to all these children who celebrated their birthday this week: Kaitlin 5B, Demi 6A, Hamish 3H, Isabella 1B, Lauren 6A, Jasmine 4D, Beau 3B, Ryan 1B, Andree 1R, Alisha 4M, Orlando 3H, Eva 1R, Alfred 4M.
2 Ice-skating looks like fun and it is! Forty five students went down to Craigieburn Central on Tuesday to demonstrate their ice-skating skills. I was also very impressed with their manners and the way they looked after each other. We finished the session with lunch at La Porchetta s, demolishing some pretty serious pizza plus lemonade and water. Lucky we ordered extra! NAPLAN: The National Assessment Program Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) 2015 for Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 students were conducted in May. NAPLAN tests assess student knowledge and skills in Writing, Reading, Language Conventions (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and Numeracy. NAPLAN results in Years 3 & 5 are being sent home today. The results of the tests provide information for students, parents, teachers and Principals which can be used to improve student achievement. Please let me know if you do not receive the student report. Please keep our year six Confirmation candidates and their teachers and families in your thoughts and prayers this week as they receive the Sacrament of Confirmation this Sunday at 3.00pm in the Kolbe Hall.
