2 I just had the most amazing experienve day of my life;; I just had to write it down for posterity. I also got the day filmed, so the video is playing on my computer right now! ALSO, I got the still photos so I ve popped a few of them in here to keep forever! Other jumpers have arrived by now, started chatting to a few of them. Some seemed really calm and collected, but others, like me, were starting to get really nervous. Weather looks a little cloudy at the moment, wonder what will happen... Arrived at the centre, was a little difficult to find, the Sat Nav sent me off in slightly the wrong direction, but I used the Finding Us document GOskydive sent me, and that got me back on track. There was loads of parking there, thought it was funny watching Sally getting accross the gravel car park in her heals!! It s a really interesting place, loads of little planes everywhere and the airfield itself is made of grass! It was all fenced off alright but I can imagine it would be really important to keep an eye on kids and dogs to make certain they were safe there. We went into the training room for a training briefing. Feel much better now, know what to expect. We watched a video, which was awesome (in fact this is when I decided to book a cameraman for video and stills), then we were told what to expect and what happens if the cloud doesn t break up etc. There was the possibility that we might not be able to jump- I would have been so disappointed, but we can come back another day (no charge), so that was a little reassuring. We had to practice the flying position and the landing position- which was kind of embarassing, but also good to know- at least I know what to expect. Went into the self-check room and put my E-ticket reference number into one of the ipads. I had updated all my information already online but the friendly staff who greeted me told me it was really important this was all correct and your own details. I then handed in the paperwork, which included the declaration of fitness form. Then she weighed me. This was the most embarassing bit... think I have eaten too many pies lately! Thankfully, I was well under the maximum weight of 250lbs, so that was ok. That was me all done so I headed over to the café for a cup of tea and waited to be called for my training! Went back to the café to wait to see what happens with the cloud. The Instructor promised to keep us up to date and if at any stage we decided we couldn t wait, we could leave and re-schedule for another day. The instructor has been by and said it still hasn t lifted, but think it might be in the next hour, so I am happy to wait. Everyone else has too- so that is good, we are all starting to chat to one another now too, feels like I am making friends.

3 Still no sign of getting off the ground. So I have decided to have a light lunch in the café. Don t want to eat too much... you can imagine why... BUT, there was plenty of choice there. Went for a jacket potato in the end, very nice. Hurray! The cloud is lifting, we are starting to get off. The Instructor has worked out who is jumping with which instructor and when. It is a streamlined operation, but I nearly missed being called cause I wondered off to have a look at one of the little planes in the airfield! OOPS! WOW and WOW and WOW!!! I have just done my jump. It was amazing. The instructor was brilliant. He talked to me really calmly, because I tell you, by the time I got in that little plane, I was shaking!!! He really helped me to rationalise my fears and get settled down. The bit when we first went over the edge, oh my goodness!!! Then seconds of speed and excitement, relief when the chute opens, and tranquility as you float down over the airfield (glad we waited for the cloud to go, otherwise we wouldn t have been able to see much.) Everyone was waiting for me on the ground and clapped and cheered, it was an amazing feeling. I just went back into the multimedia centre, and after waiting half an hour or so I was already walking out with my video and photos on a cool little USB stick! What a great day!!! 4 15 Wear comfortable and loose fitting clothing, bearing in mind it may be somewhat colder at jump altitude. Gloves are advisable for those colder days. Make sure your shoes are comfortable and well fitted trainers to give some ankle support and stop them falling off! No shoes with hooks, high heels or long boots. You are welcome to bring family and friends but please be aware they need to abide by the rules and regulations of the centre as well, particularly regarding health and safety. Children are also welcome, but please make sure they re supervised at all times, and due to the nature of the centre, there aren t a lot of provisions for children specifically, so please bring something to keep them entertained! You may wish to leave dogs at home too, there s not a lot of provisions for animals. You can also use your personal page to add any payments and do any upgrades you would like to. It all online, secure and easy! Pretty cool.

So, what weather could delay my skydive? Excessive Cloud Want to land back at our airfield? So do we! Our skilled tandem instructors are great at bringing you back to our landing area, but we ll have to see it. Too much cloud = can t see the ground = no skydiving. Wind We don t mind a bit of wind, but, if the wind is too strong (above 23 mph) we may have a long walk back to our landing area. Too much wind = long walk back = no skydiving. The airfield has good facilities a cafe, restaurant and a licensed bar (for non-jumpers.) There s also a Historical Air Museum on site which is highly recommended by all our team. Please remember to stay close on the day in case you are called for your skydive, this can happen very quickly with little notice when the weather improves. Ok, so the weather s not great on the day First things first, you need to check our weather message on our phone lines. You can do this by calling: and choosing the weather message option. If you ve checked the weather message on our phones, here s our guide to help you understand what to do next. Weather 1 Hey Skydivers, great news the forecast for tomorrow looks good. We re looking forward to seeing you at your arrival time. Meaning: Although we can t promise how accurate the weather forecast is, it looks like a good day for skydiving so far Weather 2 Tomorrows forecast isn t the best. We definitely haven t cancelled the day and we re still hopeful to do some skydiving. It would be great to see you at GOSkydive, but if you don t want to take a chance on the weather you re welcome to rebook your date on your personal booking page. Meaning: Although the weather doesn t look great we still think we ll do some skydiving.
