2 We are waiting for you LEVEL SECTION TRAINING ABOUT THE TRAINING LENGTH OF TRAINING UNDIVIDED PROGRAMME MA FULL-TIME Theology undivided master s degree course The theology course affiliated with the Pontifical Saint Anselm University, Rome, is primarily for candidates for ordained ministry. for seminarians 12 semesters for lay students 10 semesters MASTER COURSES MA FULL-TIME AND PART-TIME Teacher of Religious Education Teacher degree MA Teacher of Ethics Teacher degree MA Teacher of Family and Child Protection Teacher degree MA The course ends with a teacher s degree acknowledged by the State. It qualifies students to teach religion in elementary and high schools as well as being a teacher in boarding schools. These additional fields of studies are offered for those taking part in the Teacher of Religious Education MA Course or those possessing a university level teaching degree. Those entering the Ethics course have to have the right kind of credits. for those with a Catechist-Pastoral Assistant BA degree (along with a minor field of study) 5 semesters for those with a Teacher of Religious Education degree or an MA in Theology (depending on previous qualifications) 2-3 semesters together with the Teacher of Religious Education MA Course (depending on previous qualifications) 3-5 semesters one single field (depending on previous qualifications) 2-3 semesters PART-TIME Pastoral Counseling and Organizational Development master s degree course SPECIALIZATION: pastoral counselor The course prepares for pastoral counseling in hospitals, in residential and nursing homes and social services. 4 semesters BACHELOR COURSE BA FULL-TIME AND PART-TIME Catechist - Pastoral Assistant bachelor s degree course SPECIALIZATION: catechist pastoral assistant The training is a preparation for the work of a catechist or pastoral assistant and provides the basics for the master course of Teacher of Religion and Ethics. We also recommend the course for those who would like to deepen their understanding of faith and would like to gain a systematic knowledge of theology. 6 semesters CORE CREDITS IN THEOLOGY FULL-TIME AND PART-TIME Theological preparatory course in abbreviated form 50 credit preparatory course in Theology in order to enter the MA Course of Pastoral Counseling or the MA Teacher of Religious Education or Teacher of Ethics. 2 semesters

3 LEVEL SECTION TRAINING ABOUT THE TRAINING LENGTH OF TRAINING Child and Youth Care Counselor postgraduate certificate Training of professionals for the work to help children, youth and their families who have pro-social value-system and are problem-sensitive. 4 semesters POST- GRADUATE EDUCATION CORRES- PONDENCE COURSES Christian Social Teaching in Economy postgraduate certificate Together with the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas (Angelicum), Rome and the Corvinus University, Budapest. Based on Catholic social teaching, the training aims to reshape attitudes and deepen professional knowledge. 4 semesters Mentor-teacher training postgraduate certificate (prepares for the teacher professional exam) Together with the ELTE University, Budapest. It qualifies teachers of Religion and Ethics to work as mentor teachers. 4 semesters

6 Come on in The building from the Elisabeth Bridge About the Institute The Sapientia College of Theology was born by the joining of three religious orders (the Hungarian Benedictine Congregation, the Hungarian Piarist Province, Our Lady of Hungary Franciscan Province) theological colleges each with centuries-long history. In maintaining the college the Hungarian Province of the Society of Jesus and the Dominican Sisters of Saint Margaret of Hungary are in association with the Sponsor Orders. The Institute s theological training prepares religious men for the priesthood as well as provides theological training and catechist - pastoral assistant course. The Institute is also committed to training lay people serving in the society and preparing them to work in schools, in parishes and denominational and state institutes. The preparation is for the work of teaching, service of youth protection, counseling, catechism and pastoral assistance service and educational work. The college is also open for those who would like to deepen their understanding of faith and would like to widen their knowledge of theology. In the library

7 Services The college is at the heart of Budapest, at the foot of the Elisabeth Bridge. In the newly renovated building one can find a library, a computer room and a cafeteria helping the life and work of students, teachers and staff. There is possibility for daily silence and immersion in the chapel. The library is a public religious vocational library and it has 60,000 volume of books and 17,000 volume of journals and periodical. In the reading-room one can use all the documents, it has free internet usage. Photocopying, interlibrary borrowing are possible and databases (EBSCO, EISZ, NAVA, ATLA) and CD-ROMs are available. Chapel The Institute has joined the Erasmus program and within its framework it is possible for students, teachers and staff to take part in the mobility to the countries of the European Union. The college also has a relationship with the Oxford University, Blackfriars Hall Theological Institute. Academic and student life Twice a year, in the spring and fall semester there is a college conference day, called Sapientia Day. The different departments also organize symposiums. Twice a year the college s own periodical, the Sapientiana, is published. Both the spiritual and mental growth is encouraged by library events organized by the college s library. The student government organizes regularly spiritual days, retreats, excursions for the students and staff of the college. Those students who seek to know whether they are called for religious life, priesthood or family life can join in the Compass a workshop about to where one s calling is.
