2 Principal s Message Tangaza College is approaching its 25th. year of service to the educational needs of highly motivated young people, both from Kenya and the wider world. It was established to provide university level education in theology and arts, catering primarily to the needs of candidates interested in working in church ministry and related areas from a Catholic perspective. Apart from theology, Tangaza offers recognized college courses in education, social communications, social ministry, youth ministry, leadership and management, and spirituality and religious formation. Tangaza is international and intercultural in character, and welcomes students interested in sharing a broad horizon of human experience. Students can expect a welcoming and affirming environment in which to mature their educational aspirations and their personal development. Tangaza also offers limited secure accommodation for female students. Principal About Tangaza College Tangaza opened its doors to the first group of students on 25th August, On 30th October 1987, the College was blessed and formally inaugurated by His Eminence Maurice Cardinal Otunga, Archbishop of Nairobi. On 3rd November 1992, Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) was granted a charter by the President of Kenya. Tangaza College is recognised as a constitutent college of CUEA. Over the years the College Board of Governors approved a number of Institutes to be affiliated or become part of Tangaza College. Tangaza College is owned by a consortium of 22 Religious Orders Tangaza s Mission Tangaza College has its roots in the Mystery of the Incarnation. Now at the dawning of a new millennium, and in the spirit of the Second Vatican Council, the people of Tangaza commit themselves to participate in the New Evangelisation. This will be realised primarily through commitment to academic excellence and a personal transformation of its students, both lay and religious.

3 Conducive Learning Environment Tangaza is famed for its conducive learning environment. The college is located in Karen. Tangaza s lecture rooms and halls have a capacity of up to 15,000 students. The College has an international student body; 40% of the students are Kenyan and the the rest are from elsewhere in Africa, Asia, Europe, North and South America, and the Australian continent. Library Tangaza has a well stocked library and an up-to-date reference center. The College Library operates an Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) which can be accessed from the Tangaza College webpage ( The College Library also subscribes to several online databases like JSTOR, EBSCO Oxford and many more. IT and Other College Facilities Tangaza has several well stocked laboratories including science and geography labs. The College also has a radio and television studio with media studies equipment such as digital and video cameras. Tangaza has seven computer labs and a cyber café. It also has six internet wireless hotspots where the Tangaza family can surf the internet using their laptops. These facilities enable students to work on academic assignments. Tangaza is also a partner of Kennet which enables its students to interact with other university students from all over the world. Accommodation Tangaza has a Women s Hostel adjacent to the college premises. The college also helps arrange for the accommodation of all its students in hostels that are located in the College s vicinity. Minimum Entry Requirements: Diploma K.C.S.E.- C- Undergraduate K.C.S.E.- C+ Masters Bachelors Degree with a minimum of Second Class Honours- Upper Division Any other Qualification accepted by the CUEA Senate as equivalent to any of the above.

A successful student becomes an Africanist.
