This project began with an invited presentation at the annual meeting of the National Association of Catholic Family Life Ministry (July, 2012). 6 a family to the building of character and the transmission of virtues as central to vocation were refined in a related presentation at Holy Family Parish in February, o The work in progress is set to become an essay submitted for publication in early 2014 o Possible journals for submission include the Journal of Discipleship and Family Ministry, Family Ministry Today: the Journal of the School of Church Ministry at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and The Journal of Family Life Ministry Vocation Stories as a Source for Theological Reflection a continuation of a research project initiated at the National Symposium on Lay Ecclesial Ministry at Collegeville, 2011, and undertaken at the invitation of the National Association for Lay Ministry. An exercise in qualitative analysis, this project involves building on research already done through the analysis of twenty-three individual interviews soliciting stories of call to lay ecclesial ministry and preserved in video recordings. Additional research focuses on comparing the patterns and recurring theological and ministerial motifs present in the twenty-three interviews with those present in other analyses of contemporary trends in Catholic ministerial practice. o An essay is planned for mid-spring or early summer, o Journals to which submission may be made include The New Theology Review and The Journal of Adult Theological Education. Preaching and Catechesis: Insight from Recent Ecclesial Documents an analysis of the treatment of the relationship between liturgical preaching and catechesis reflected in selected international and American ecclesial documents of the last two decades. Central to the essay will be a comprehensive review of the recent US bishops document on liturgical preaching, Preaching the Mystery of Faith: the Sunday Homily (2013). o Initial research on the contemporary preaching scene was summarized in a 2008 presentation to the clergy of the Diocese of Dallas o A presentation on the new document will be offered for priests and deacons at the UD Ministry Conference in October, 2013 o An essay building on these presentations will be prepared for submission in winter, 2014 o Journals to which submission may be made include Seminary Journal and Oblation: Liturgy and Evangelization \\Fs00\irps$\Luby\DATA\DXL\CV docx Page 6 of 6
