1 HAND DRIBBLE 1.Use finger pads, not the palm of the hand 2. Ready position - knees flexed, good posture 3.Use off arm for balance 4.Head up look around, be aware 5.Contact ball at the waist level or below 6.Use off hand or alternating dribble EXCEEDS Able to change direction and maintain control of the ball in a drill or game situation STRIKING (forehand) 1. Eyes: Focused on object until contact/impact (track all the way) 2. Grip: A. Handshake grip (racquet/paddle) V between thumb and finger, V is formed B. Long implement (hockey, softball, ect...) 3. Stance (Pre-hit): Sideways to object, opposite (non-favorite) shoulder/leg in fron 2 hands on impact Arm/elbow flexed in back/ready swing position, knees bent. 4. Strike/contact/stroke : Step toward object with opposite foot Contact object at midline to front of body 5. Weight transfer: Weight shifts from back leg to front leg 6. Follow Through: Arm and racquet/paddle finish through object, arm across body

3 CATCHING CRITICAL ELEMENTS Look at the ball 1. Look- Keep your eye on the ball Hands in front of body 2. Ready position- Feet shoulder width/knees flexed Hands reach forward as ball approaches 3. Reach- Fingers spread and pointing up if ball is above waist 4. Adjust to ball height- Fingers spread and pointing down if ball is below waist Hands only, not trapping ball against body 5. Catch with hands- Arms flexed 6. Give- Catch the ball softly/silently EXCEEDS Able to perform 6 critical elements consistently in a drill or game situation DANCE/RHYTHMS 1. Feel the beat on body.
