Prices do not include sales and occupancy taxes. II. Hotel Security ALWAYS: A. Keep your luggage in sight when checking into a residence. DO NOT abandon it unattended even for a moment. B. Place all valuables in residence safe deposit box as soon as possible and preferably when you are checking in. C. Close the door of your room by hand when leaving, to make sure that it is locked. D. Keep the door locked while you are in your room. When retiring for the night, use the double lock and chain. E. Lock your door by hand, even if leaving your room for a short period of time. F. Lock your luggage when not in use and place it in a closet. 1

3 If the closet has a lock, always use it. G. Protect your room key. Check with key procedures upon your arrival. H. Notify the manager of any unusual occurrences, such as: I. Individuals loitering in the corridor, repeated calls from unidentified callers, knocking on your door by persons who are unknown to you, or finding no one at the door when you answer it. Ask the manager to double lock your door when you go out if you are leaving valuables in your room which are too large to check at the front desk. Not all hotel residences provide this service, but make sure to ask if yours does. NEVER A. Never display jewellery, money, or any other valuable items in your room, in front of residence personnel or strangers. B. Never invite strangers to your room. C. Never permit repairmen, window washers, etc., into your room without first checking with residence management. D. Never allow persons into your rooms with unsolicited deliveries. E. While socializing, do not reveal the name of your residence or room number to strangers. F. Never discuss specific future plans for a day away, etc., in front of residence personnel or strangers. G. Never carry room keys outside of residence unless permitted by management. II

CENTRAL PARK HOSTEL 19 W. 103 rd St. Single (w/2 twin beds): $75 (Off Central Park West) Dorm style (bunk beds): $25 Description: All rooms have shared bathrooms. Residence is a newly renovated 5-story walk-up. Lockers, rec room/lounge with television, pool table & ping-pong table area area available. It is located near Central Park, museums, universities, nightlife & restaurants. Linens are included in rate. Requirements: 1 government issued id (i.e. driver s license passport), return ticket must be shown for long-term stay, non-resident of New York City. CHELSEA CENTER HOUSE West 29 th St. Single(dorm style): $30 (8 th & 9 th Ave) New York, New York Tel. (212) Description: All rooms have share bathrooms. Residence provides dormitory style accommodations for individual or small group travelers. Rates included tax. breakfast, sheets & blankets. Requirements: Valid passport, travelers, short-term stay only. 4

Largest hostel in the U.S. and member of the International Youth Hostel Federation. Contains 624 beds in both dormitory and private style rooms for year-around accommodations to travelers. Room arrangements range from 4 to 12 people per room. Maximum of 4 people only in family and private rooms. Air condition, heat, coffee bar, cafeteria, self-service kitchen, backyard garden, lounge, game-room, shop, laundry room, baggage storage, airport transfers and shuttles, lines, party/meeting room for private functions, chapel are available. Membership to Hostelling International is available and provides rate reduction as a benefit. Requirements: government issued pictures ID, 1 night stay deposit, 24hr notice for reservation, maximum stay of 7 nights during peak season, non-resident of New York City. INTERNATIONAL STUDENT CENTER 38 West 88 th St. (Off Central Park West ) Single (dorm style): $20 New York, New York Tel. (212) Description: All rooms have share bathrooms Residence is open to people of ages Each room accommodates 8 girls or 10 boys. No advanced reservation is need. Guest room accommodates up 3 people, and Share Room up to 2 people. Requirements: Applications, 1 photo ID, 2 letters of recommendation, $40 registration fee, and personal interview. KOLPING HOUSE (MEN ONLY) Weekly 165 East 88 th St. Single (Share bath) $50 $165 (Lexington& 3 rd Ave) New York, New York Description: All rooms have share bathrooms. Residence has 88 units for ages in non-sectarian, dorm style living arrangement. Rates include 5 meals per week (lunch or dinner) Mon.- Fri. rates can be used fir a maximum of 4 nights only. Requirements: $50 registration fee for one week of more.
