Check website regularly for updated information (select find your local). City Business Agent for the City of San Jose and Local 101 for more than 15 years, and an AFSCME employee for more than 30 years. We want to wish her well as she turns the page to a new chapter in her life. Linda has worked tirelessly in the City of San Jose to represent the MEF and CEO members. These past 5 years have been especially interesting and hopefully rewarding as well, as the leadership in the San Jose Chapters and the Local changed regularly every year. Linda was instrumental to helping ease new leaders and activists into their assumed roles, and was never short on giving words of encouragement to help us navigate our way through the transitions. She is very committed to our members, the community and the labor movement. She embodies many of the necessary talents, interests and passions needed to best serve our members. Her activism in the SBLC political program has been unwavering, and she promises to continue to help with precinct walking and phone banking during election cycles even after she is retired. During election season you can find Linda at the labor council most weekends ready to walk and talk to the community about working family endorsed candidates. Many of us have received numerous requests from her to walk with her on a Saturday morning, and those of us who have accepted these invitations have seen firsthand how great she is at this. Her personal commitment to helping others is unwavering and is never more present during the Holiday season when each and every year Linda, and often times her family, would participate in the Sweater and Socks campaign that Local 101 sponsored for families in need. She is always there bright and early to wrap gifts and sort through donations. She helped make sure every child had a toy and a new outfit and every family member had something under the tree to open for the holiday. Linda you will truly be missed. You have been a great business agent, mentor and most of all a friend to me and so many others. Your contributions have been great and no words can ever truly thank you for all the years of hard work and dedication. You have earned your right to retire, so best of luck to you, enjoy life and keep smiling. Yolanda Cruz MEF Chapter President If you d like to join us in celebrating Linda s many years of dedicated service to AFSCME please contact Greg Ramirez by October 15 via at greg.ramirez@ca.afscme57.org there will be a luncheon in her honor at the Cheesecake Factory at Valley Fair on Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at 1pm.
