1 Prof. Roberto CAUDA MD, Ph.D. Professor of Infectious Diseases Head of Infectious Diseases Unit Università Cattolica Sacro Cuore (UCSC) Rome, Italy rcauda@rm.unicatt.it Pr. Roberto CAUDA has been the Chairman of the Department of Infectious Diseases at UCSC since 2000 and the Director of the Schools of Specialisation in Infectious Disease and Tropical Medicine since He is head of the Ph.D. programme in Infectious Disease at UCSC and holds the Adjunct Assistant Professorship of Continuing Medical Education at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, USA (since 1985). He teaches Public Health as a visiting professor in two universities in Slovakia - St. Elizabeth University (Bratislava) and University of Trnava (Trnava) and since 2004 is the Adjunct Professor of Microbiology and Immunology at Texas Tech University. Member of the editorial board «Future Microbiology» and of numerous Scientific Societies (SIMIT, SIMET, Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, ESBIC, Slovak Society of Chemotherapy), he directs the Centre for the International Solidarity of UCSC since His areas of scientific interest are : antibiotic resistance and nosocomial infections, clinical and epidemiological aspects of HIV infection/disease, viral hepatitis, herpetic disease and tropical diseases.

2 Dr. Caroline CHARLIER-WOERTHER MD, PhD Assistant Professor at the ITD Unit, Necker-Enfants Malades Hospital, Paris Senior Lecturer, Paris Descartes Medical Faculty Paris, France Dr. Caroline CHARLIER is a Consultant Physician of the Infectious and Tropical Diseases Unit at Necker- Enfants Malades Hospital. She is specialised in infections of pregnant women. She teaches Infectious Diseases at Paris Descartes University and topics related to infections during pregnancy in various other university diplomas. Caroline Charlier s research activities focus on infections in pregnancy, and aim to generate clinical and translational data. She is particularly interested in listeriosis, and is the lead investigator and coordinator of the national MONALISA study (Multicentric Observational National Analysis of Listeriosis and Listeria Study) that has prospectively included 813 patients and 456 controls and aim to dissect the pronostic and risk factors (including genetics) She is also Editor of the Infectious Diseases section of the francophone top medical journal La Presse Médicale. She is the Paris Descartes representative and scientific programme coordinator of the International Intensive Infectious Diseases Course (I3DC).

3 Dr. Simona DI GIAMBENEDETTO MD, Assistant Professor Department of Infectious Diseases Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore Agostino Gemelli Hospital foto Dr. Di Giambenedetto Simona was born in Rieti on September 26, She obtained the Humanities high school license at the "Marco Terenzio Varrone" High school of Rieti in the year She has begun the school of Medicine and Surgery at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart of Rome in the academic year 1991/92. She obtained the Degree in Medicine and Surgery at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart of Rome in March 17, She then specialized in Infectious Diseases on 10/11/2003 with full marks and honor. From June of 2004 to December 2008 she has worked as contract physician at the Clinic of Infectious Diseases of the Policlinico Gemelli. From January 2009 she is Assistant Professor at the Clinic of Infectious Diseases of the Catholic University of Sacred Heart in Rome. The research activity of Dr. Di Giambenedetto focuses mainly on infections by HIV, opportunistic infections in AIDS, and on anti-retroviral therapies. Dr. Di Giambenedetto has published 102 papers on international Journals with IF.

Specialized in Infectious Diseases at the Catholic University. Assistant Professor of Infectious Diseases at Catholic University in Rome. Head of the Infectious Diseases Consultancy Unit at the University Hospital Agostino Gemelli. Professor of Infectious Diseases in the School of Cardiovascular Perfusionists, Catholic University of Rome. Professor of Infectious Diseases for the post graduate schools of the Catholic University of Rome. Invited speaker at many national and international conferences. Author of over 100 papers most of which on the epidemiological and clinical aspects of HIV disease, health-care associated infections, osteoarticular infections.

5 Dr Ingólfur JOHANNESSEN Clinical Lecturer in Virology MBChB, MSc, MD, Ph.D., FRCPath University of Edinburgh Edinburgh (Scotland), UK Dr Ingólfur Johannessen is a clinical senior lecturer in Virology within the Division of Pathway Medicine/Centre for Infectious Diseases at the University of Edinburgh and a consultant medical virologist of the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. He is also the Director of MBChB, Year 2, and the Deputy Chair of the MBChB Year 1 Exam Board at UoE. Medical Lead of the Scottish Human Papillomavirus Reference Laboratory, he chairs the Scottish Clinical Virology Consultants Group. Additionally, he holds a number of important positions at a national level, being the Deputy Director for the Scottish National Training Programme in Virology, and the Specialty Adviser for Virology to the Chief Medical Officer for Scotland. Dr Johannessen s research activities focus on oncogenic human herpesviruses, and aim to generate translational data to benefit patients as quickly as possible. He is particularly interested in Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) biology and pathogenesis (with particular reference to EBV-associated tumorigenesis) and the development of novel immunotherapy for EBV-associated cancer as a therapeutic model for virusdriven tumours.

6 Dr. Rebecca K SUTHERLAND MBChB, Bsc (Hons), FRCPath, MRCP Western General Hospital, Edinburgh University of Edinburgh Edinburgh (Scotland), UK Rebecca.Sutherland@nhslothian.scot.nhs.uk Dr Rebecca Sutherland is a Consultant Infectious Diseases Physician in Edinburgh and an Honorary Clinical Senior lecturer at the University of Edinburgh. She trained in both Infectious Diseases and Microbiology in Oxford before moving back to Scotland in During her training she worked in rural Kwa Zulu Natal, South Africa and helped set up the first antiretroviral clinics in the district. She also worked as an MRC research fellow for the international aids vaccine initiative and helped run candidate HIV vaccine trials in Oxford and Nairobi. Her clinical work in Edinburgh includes HIV and Hepatitis C outpatient clinics as well as general infectious diseases inpatient and outpatient work. Dr Sutherland is also one of the team of infectious diseases physicians who lead the infection and antimicrobial stewardship rounds in the three teaching hospitals in Lothian. Her research interests include HIV immune control mechanisms, hepatitis C therapeutics trials, as well as looking at the impact of antimicrobial stewardship in the hospital.

Specialized in Infectious Diseases at the Catholic University of Sacred Heart. Assistant Professor of Infectious Diseases at Catholic University of Sacred Hearth in Rome. Head of one of the infectious diseases units. Infectious diseases consultant at the University Hospital Agostino Gemelli. Professor of Infectious Diseases in the course of Dentistry and Dental Prosthesis. Professor of Infectious Diseases for the post graduate schools of the Catholic University. Invited speaker at many international conferences. Author of 140 papers cited in PubMed (the majority of them on epidemiology and clinical aspects of healthcare-associated infections caused by antimicrobial-resistant bacteria and fungi) with 3616 citations (H index 33) on Google Scholar. Associated editor of Infectious Disorders - Drug Targets, and independent referee for many international journals in the field of infectious diseases.

8 Pr. Federica WOLF Associate Professor of General Pathology BS in Biology, PhD in Pathology Università Cattolica Sacro Cuore (UCSC) Rome, Italy Pr. Federica Wolf is an associate professor of General Pathology, teaching to students of Medicine, Biotechnology, Physiotherapy BS degrees and to laboratory technicians. She is head of the Ion channels regulation and cation homeostasis in normal and tumour cells research team and President of the International Society for the Development of Research on Magnesium (SDRM). Delegate for International Programs at the medical faculty of Sacro Cuore since 2006, she has been organising student and academic staff exchanges under the Erasmus programme at undergraduate and post-graduate levels since She is a member of thematic networks MEDNET-1 and MEDNET-2 and actively participates in projects under the Lifelong Learning programme (CHarME, Med-Motion) as well as several Tempus programmes, dealing with modernisation and internationalisation of medical curricula.
