2 Trip Itinerary Day 1 - Istanbul, Turkey Arrive, check in and dump your gear. Meet the crew and get the lowdown on local etiquette (you're not in Kansas anymore) then get your Turkish love affair started with your first taste of Turkey. #shishkebab. -Welcome meeting -Dinner in a local restaurant Meals: Dinner. -Istanbul is the only city in the world to sit on two continents: Asia and Europe. -The city's previous names were Byzantium, Constantinople, Stamboul and Tsarigrad. -Turkey only recently crowned tea their drink of choice because Turkish coffee got too expensive. They grow their tea leaves in the Black Sea region, so it's totes local (FYI to the artisanal-appreciating hipsters among you). Day 2 - Istanbul to Ankara Travel Day: Istanbul to Ankara This morning should be called the great Istanbul bucket list. Tick off the Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, the Aya Sofia and Underground Cistern on a guided tour. Grab a quick bite before we jet off to Ankara for a primer in ancient urban history. Cover the bases with the Anatolian Civilization Museum and the Mausoleum of Turkey's first President, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk then roam free and explore. -Walking tour of Istanbul -Ankara sightseeing tour Optional activities: -Entrance to Topkapi Palace, Aya Sofia and the Underground Cistern -Welcome to the Canberra of Turkey. Indeed, Ankara is the capital of Turkey, and not Istanbul as many would think. -Ankara is bigger than any city in the US (apart from New York). Day 3 - Ankara to Cappadocia Travel Day: Ankara to Cappadocia. If the promise of a drug free psychedelic daydream doesn't get you out of bed, what will? Cappadocia next. Cue alien landscapes, fairytale mountainside villages and epic hiking potential. End your day with a homecooked meal at a local family home.

Day 4 - Cappadocia Wander the streets of Goreme or check out the Uchisar Castle (optional) for more epic views then get your groove on at tonight's optional Turkish dance show. -Ilhara Valley visit Optional activities: -Goreme open air museum -Uchisar Castle -Traditional Turkish dance show -In 2005, a sheep tragically decided to jump off a cliff to its death. More than 1500 other sheep followed suit. The good news: 1050 sheep survived the fall. #woolcushioning. Day 5 - Cappadocia to Konya Travel Day: Cappadocia to Konya. Kick back on today's drive to Konya. First stop en route at Sultan Han Caravanserai, a pit-stop for camel trains on the old Silk Road #thisishistory. More otherworldly landscapes await in Ihlara Valley. Shelf your claustrophobia and venture underground on an optional tour of the buried Derinkuyu city where Christians hid to avoid persecution from the Romans (entry optional). Then another stop for a photo op at Obruk's deep blue lake and whirling dervishes upon arrival on a tour of the Mevlana Museum. Tonight is a good time to see a man about a kebab. The food here is famous for a reason (read: slow-roasted mutton the local way). -Mevlana Whirling Dervish Museum tour -Underground city Derinkuyu -Back in the days of the Ottoman Empire, Turkey had more than 1400 public toilets. The other less civilized countries had none. Day 6 - Konya to Fethiye Travel Day: Konya to Fethiye. Fethiye and another fifty shades of blue. And white beaches. Wade through the icy blue to battle waterfalls set against limestone canyon walls on an optional visit to Saklikent Gorge. Locals call this place a paradise granted to Earth by God. When you see the beaches, you'll know why.

4 Meals: Breakfast, Dinner. Optional activities: -Saklikent Gorge visit. Day 7 - Fethiye The trip may end today but life's a beach. Say arrr one last time or find another ship to stowaway on and do it all over again. Accommodation We endeavour to select a combination of good quality hotels that reflect the character of the local area as well as being as centrally located as possible, all the while striving to keep the cost affordable. Your trip will stay in a range of European hotels of three and four-star quality. Please be aware that European hotel rooms, especially those in major urban centres or older cities, may be smaller than what you are used to in other parts of the world. Standards and ratings may also be different to your home country. Rooms are en-suite and either twin- or triple-share, depending on what you have booked. If you are a solo traveller, you will always be sharing a room with someone of the same sex. If you are travelling as a couple and would prefer to have a double bed, please officially request a double room with your travel agent or Topdeck trip consultant. We never presume that two people travelling together are a couple, even if you share the same surname, unless informed otherwise. Optional Activities On all trips we have arranged extra activities that we think will enhance your travel experience, but you have a choice as to whether or not you will participate. These are not included in the cost of your trip. They are usually organised on a group participation basis and should be taken into consideration when budgeting your spending money. None of the Optional Activities on your trip are operated by Topdeck, nor do they form part of your contract with Topdeck for your trip. 6 Troy Site entrance Meals Your included meals are detailed in the 'More Inclusions' section of this document. Breakfasts are included every day in the hotel (except on the first morning). They are usually 'continental breakfasts', which are typical in most European countries. A typical breakfast may consist of cereals with milk or yoghurt, bread, croissants, cold meats, cheese and a range of spreads, with fruit juice, tea or coffee to drink. It is rare to get a hot breakfast in continental Europe, though on some occasions there may be some hot food available as well. Included evening meals are in local restaurants or accommodation places, and are either two or three courses. In most cases table water is provided with the meals, and if you wish to purchase additional drinks you can do so at your own expense. If you have any dietary requirements we will make every effort to cater to your specific needs as long as you advise your travel agent or Topdeck Trip Consultant when you book. But please be aware that although we will do everything in our power to arrange it, we cannot guarantee that every restaurant we use will be able to cater to all dietary needs, particularly in Eastern Europe. We also cannot cater for tastes or dislikes, as most of our included evening meals feature a set menu.
