2 Day 1 New York City, NY to Boston, MA Batter up! We're bussing it over the border and travelling to a city immersed in the American Revolution and Independence movement. To sweeten the deal even more, we hear there's a pretty amazing Boston cream pie on the must-eat list. Meals: Dinner. -The earliest surviving aerial photograph, titled "Boston, as the Eagle and the Wild Goose see it", was taken in 1860 of Boston's North End from a hot air balloon. -When Benjamin Franklin passed away in 1790 he left $4,400 in his will to the cities of Boston and Philadelphia, with the clause that the money not be spent for 200 years. When 1990 rolled around, Boston's trust had over $5 million in it sitting pretty. -The first person to be sentenced to the medieval stocks in Boston was the original carpenter of said stocks, Edward Palmer. His crime? Charging too much for his carpentry of the stocks. -Boston cream pie is the official state dessert of Massachusetts. -The Boston University Bridge and the Sydney Harbour Bridge share one thing in common: they are both listed as rare places in the world where a boat can sail under a train going under a car that is driving under a plane. -Boston has banned "Happy Hour". We're not too happy about that. Day 2 Boston It's your free day! Check out Barack Obama's old Alma mater (Harvard), trek the Freedom Trail that leads to 16 historic sites and have a cheeky bevy at the original Cheers bar before making your way to baseball heaven at Fenway Park. -Free day Optional activities: - Fenway Park Tour - Sam Adams Brewery Tour - Bike Tour

3 Day 3 Boston to Quebec City, QC Perched on a cliff that towers over the St Lawrence River, Quebec City is old school Europe in the middle of North America. With 400 years of spine-tingling history to draw upon, tonight's ghost tour will unleash the darker side of this otherwise seemingly quaint city. -Quebec City ghost tour Meals: Dinner. -The award for the most female friendly city in Canada goes to Quebec City. It is the only city where men report higher levels of stress and has the lowest rate of violence. -Quebec City will pay immigrants an allowance to take French lessons. A hot, French-speaking, reward-paying city? Let's all move there. -The province of Quebec was the Harvey Milk of justice, becoming the first jurisdiction bigger than a city to prohibit anti-gay discrimination in On average, Quebec City has 149 days when the snow is at least one inch deep. -J.A. Moisan Epicerie opened in 1871 in Quebec City and is now the oldest grocery store in North America. Day 4 Quebec City to Montreal Get your last fix of Quebec this morning, we re out of here after lunch. That s right, it s Montreal time. Did we mention it has a city underneath the city? Yeah, you read that right. -Drive day along the St Lawrence river -Montreal is one of the five biggest French-speaking cities in the world. Oui oui. -The MTA in Montreal has a request-a-stop between stops bus service, which allows anyone travelling alone late at night to be dropped closer to their house. -Montreal has an entire underground city that is used to get from one place to another during winter. -There is a swing set in downtown Montreal that produce sounds when swung on - if you sync all 3 it creates a song. -Montreal has the second highest number of restaurants per capita after New York. Get chomping! Day 5 Montreal A walking tour to get your bearings before it's over to you. Hike up the mountain that gave Montreal its name or hit whatever festival's in town this week (trust us, something will be going on). -Walking tour of the old city Meals: Breakfast. 4 Day 6 Montreal to Toronto, ON (via Ottawa) A quick stop in the nation s capital. Next up: Toronto and breezy lakes in Canada s biggest city. Kensington is where the hipsters hang. -Drive day through the Thousand Islands region and along Lake Ontario Meals: Breakfast, dinner. -By 2020 Toronto will have the highest number of high-rise buildings in the world. -A reported in Toronto gave 5 homeless people prepaid gift cards with $50 and $75 denominations, told them to buy whatever they wanted and asked that they be returned once they were finished. He tracked the cards online and all had bought only the bare necessities. 4 out of 5 cards were returned. -In 1926 a Toronto lawyer willed his entire estate to the woman that could have the most children in the 10 year period after his death. There was a 4-way tie for first place, with each woman birthing 9 babies. Ouch. -Honest Ed's dollar store keeps sign painters on standby to hand paint dozens of signs daily to advertise specials. Day 7 Toronto With 8000 restaurants and counting, it's hard to imagine anything in Toronto that doesn't involve food - but an international film festival, the Hockey Hall of Fame and North America's largest drive-in screen will prove you wrong. -Free day Optional activities: - Walking Tour

5 Day 8 Toronto to Niagara Falls Turn water into wine with a stop for a tipple at a local winery then it s off to The Falls. Calling the Niagara Falls epic would be like saying Snoop Lion likes a collaboration. We ll let the thunder of four-million-cubic-feet of water per minute speak for us instead on our nighttime illuminated look-see. -Wine tasting -Voyage to the Falls boat tour Meals: Dinner. -There are 30-foot wide abandoned tunnels behind The Falls. -The inventor of the disposable razor (King C. Gillette) had the idea that everyone in the US should live in a city called Metropolis and be powered by Niagara Falls. -The first person to successfully descend Niagara Falls was Annie Taylor. She used a custom barrel and made the journey on her 63rd birthday. -The day the Falls stood still actually occurred one day in It stopped flowing for over a day due to an ice jam further upstream. -In 1969 the Falls were brought to a mere trickle by a cofferdam so that the rock formations at the base could be studied. Day 9 Niagara Falls to Harrisburg, PA With enough seaspray to last until the next encounter with Niagara Falls, we continue on to Pennsylvania - home to Pennsylvania Dutch, the first computer and former capital of the US. Harrisburg has plenty of museums to keep your heart warm, or if your ears need a good tuning head downtown for a jazz festival. -Drive day through upper NY State and Pennsylvania Meals: Breakfast. -In June 1978 a Harrisburg middle school went all out to set a Guinness World Record for the largest tug of war game ever played. The resulting injuries consisted of hundreds of second-degree burns, 70 lying wounded, 5 severed fingertips and a missing thumb. -The artillery from the battle of Gettysburg in 1863 could be heard as far as Harrisburg, 40 miles away. It was the largest artillery barrage to ever occur in the western hemisphere.

6 Day 10 Harrisburg to Washington, DC Hang on to your horse and buggy, we're in Amish country! Welcome to the simple life, where you'll enjoy a delicious home-cooked lunch at a traditional Amish farm and indulge in a baked treat or two. -Amish Farm visit & lunch -DC Illumination Tour Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner. -George Washington never lived in the White House, as it was completed a year after he passed away. -When completed in 1884, the Washington Monument was briefly the tallest building in the world. It was quickly surpassed by the Eiffel Tower. -There are 35 bathrooms in the White House. Having options is a great thing. -There is a Darth Vader gargoyle at the Washington National Cathedral in DC. Day 11 Washington, DC Is that the Washington Monument or are you just happy to see me? Be a mall rat of a different kind today, hanging out at the US Capitol Building, Reflecting Pool and War Memorials in National Mall. DC is the land of memorials, museums and monuments so don your best hipster specs and carb up on culture. Lead your trivia team to victory when you get home. -Free day Meals: Breakfast. 7 Day 12 Washington, DC to New York City, NY (via Philadelphia, PA) After making our way through Philly (and stopping for an optional cheesesteak) we roll on in to the city that never gets a wink. Our trip might be over, but you'd be bananas for leaving the Big Apple. Expand your New York state of mind with a carriage ride through Central Park and some window-shopping at Tiffany's. Meals: Breakfast. -A hot dog stand permit can cost up to $289,000 per year in Central Park. That's some expensive hot dogs right there! -New York has more inhabitants than 39 of the 50 states in the US. -If you catch a taxi between New York and Los Angeles, it will cost you $17,000 and take 3 days. -There is a man that mines the New York sidewalks for gold, platinum and precious gems. In 6 days he made a neat sum of $800 after finding gold on the floor of a diamond exchange, prompting him to turn to the streets for treasure. Accommodation We have endeavoured to select a combination of good quality hotels that reflect the character of the local area and are as centrally located as possible, all the while striving to keep the cost affordable. Standards and ratings may however differ to what you are accustomed to in your own country. The 'More Inclusions' section of this document details what type of accommodation is used for our overnight stops. If you are a solo traveller, you will always be sharing a room with someone of the same sex. If you are travelling as a couple and would prefer to have a double bed, please officially request a double room with your travel agent or Topdeck trip consultant. We never presume that two people travelling together are a couple, even if you share the same surname, unless informed otherwise. IMPORTANT NOTE: If you have booked pre or post trip accommodation, please note that most hotels in North America require you to present a credit card at check-in, even if your accommodation is pre-paid. The hotel will either place a temporary hold on a set amount (called a pre-authorisation) or will make a manual swipe of the card. This is done to cover incidentals, for example you consume something from the mini-bar, or you damage the hotel room. Your card will NOT actually be charged unless you use the mini-bar, etc. Please ask the hotel front desk clerk for a further explanation when checking in if you are unsure about why they need the card. Again, this is standard procedure at most hotels and is typically not something you need to be concerned about. Optional Activities On all trips we have arranged extra activities that we think will enhance your travel experience, but you have a choice as to whether or not you will participate. These are not included in the cost of your trip. They are usually organised on a group participation basis and should be taken into consideration when budgeting your spending money. None of the Optional Activities on your trip are operated by Topdeck, nor do they form part of your contract with Topdeck for your trip. 9 If you have any dietary requirements we will make every effort to cater to your specific needs as long as you advise your travel agent or Topdeck Trip Consultant when you book. But please be aware that although we will do everything in our power to arrange it, we cannot guarantee that every restaurant we use will be able to cater to all dietary needs. We cannot cater for tastes or dislikes, as most of our included evening meals feature a set menu.
