17 Understanding Your Score Now, rank your scores from highest to lowest It is very important to: Recognize we are a combination of all 4 personality styles Realize that we are driven and motivated based upon the level or degree in which these values or tendencies are a part of us
18 Personality Style Indicator Codes The style with your highest score is your Primary Style Your Primary Style is: Inborn The place you are most comfortable Not something that can be substantially changed by others
19 Personality Style Indicator Codes The 2nd and 3rd levels are your next two highest scores. These are generally learned behaviors and represent socialization effects The 4th level (lowest score) represents your area of least comfort and is your stress area
20 Our Esteem Needs To communicate effectively, we need to understand the esteem needs of all four personality styles Then, when we are having difficulty communicating, we need to stop and think about how to best meet the esteem needs of the other person
21 The Adventurer s Needs Adventurers need action They expect and require freedom, fun, change, and immediate responses to information and issues When their expectations aren t met, then tend to fight back or drop out To reduce their stress, you need to calm down, be flexible, open to change, humor, and new ventures
22 The Builder s Needs Builders need order The expect & require punctuality, dependability, & specific direction When their expectations aren t met, they will over-enforce rules or become workaholics To reduce their stress, you must accept responsibility for your actions, be prepared & organized with clear goals
23 The Catalyst s Needs Catalysts need unity and patience They expect and require teamwork and harmony When their expectations aren t met, they blame themselves or others To reduce their stress, you must listen, use compassion, share the work/credit of the team, and be fair
24 The Discoverer s Needs Discoverers need freedom to think, read, & explore new ideas They expect and require competence, logic, freedom to analyze and research When their expectations aren t met, they tend to go silent & shut people out To reduce their stress, approach them logically (not emotionally) be objective, listen well, and have an open mind
25 Control Dramas Each style uses a different method to gain control over a situation: An Adventurer uses Intimidation A Builder uses Self-Righteousness A Catalyst becomes the Interrogator A Discoverer uses Aloofness Understanding this should enable you to communicate more effectively
