3 Speaker Information C. Neil Buchwalter, Sr. Principal Product Manager Neil has been working with databases, data and metadata for more than 30 years. He is currently responsible for defining long- and short-term product strategy, functionality and technical messaging for the CA ERwin family of modeling products. Much of his workday is spent collaborating with customers and non-customers alike understanding their modeling and their data requirements, conferring on potential product enhancements, defining workflow improvements and providing technical product and modeling guidance. Prior to joining CA Technologies in 1999, Neil co-authored the Construction Handbook for the Information Engineering Methodology while consulting for James Martin Associates. Since then he has provided technical review and editing expertise to several books written about databases and data modeling; most recently, for Data Modeling Made Simple with CA ERwin Data Modeler. 3

11 Database Support and Other Miscellaneous Improvements New database certifications Teradata v15 and SAP (Sybase) ASE v16 Windows-authenticated users can initialize a mart or can log into MartAdmin Mart model reporting data is managed independent of actual mart metadata Automatic synchronization, but can optionally be scheduled Stored in compressed (binary - default) or uncompressed (XML) format Metadata updates are multi-threaded (default is 8 threads) to enhance performance on large models user configurable and maximum is dependent upon system resources Mart upgrade utility (r8.x to r9.6) has been enhanced to support multi-threading Minimum 3Gb RAM required User configurable (default is 1 thread) and maximum is dependent upon system resources Online Help entire bookshelf is available online (via ERwin.com website) CA ERwin DM is not required to review online documentation User can opt to fetch documentation locally 11
