2 Welcome to Challenger Center Hawaii s (CCHI) Online Mission Management System. This system was designed to improve the efficiency in managing missions, increase the accuracy of computing assessment scores, and reduce or eliminate the use of excess paper. As a teacher, you will be able to manage the administrative tasks associated with carrying out a mission, including: - Requesting mission dates. - Option to administer pre and post test online or manually enter test scores. - Accessing and downloading curriculum. - Creating a crew manifest online. - Making last-minute changes to the Crew Manifest and having it reflect on the name tags and assessments. - Assessing students on an ipad during the mission. - Reviewing assessments and comments as soon as your mission is done. - Reviewing pre/post test percentage improvement reports and how they compare to your colleagues. - Evaluating the mission experience and providing feedback to CCHI staff. The following instructions will help you navigate the website and get the most out of your experience at Challenger Center Hawaii. 4 Logging In for the First Time: Obtaining Your Password Our MMS system automatically creates a random password when we enter your name into our system. Because of this, you will need to create a new password by following the instructions below. Once you create a new password, you can log in any time on this screen to access your mission information. 1. Go to ChallengerCenterHawaii.com Click on the Teacher login link at the bottom of CCHI s home page. 2. Click on Create a new password link. 3. Enter the address Challenger Center Hawaii uses to contact you. Click GET NEW PASSWORD. 4. Check your for a link to create a new password before moving forward. 5 Logging in For the First Time Continued 5. After you ve received the , click on the link at the bottom of the . It will take you to the website where you will see a prompt like this. Enter a new password and confirm the new password by entering it again. Remember your password so you may log in again when you come back to the site. 6. Click RESET PASSWORD. 7. A confirmation screen will appear. Click LOG IN. 8. Enter your username and NEW password. 9. Click LOG IN. Rev CCHI Online Mission Management System Teacher Instruction Manual 5
6 Logging In for the First Time: Completing Your Profile Once you re logged in, you ll need to complete your profile before you can access any missions. 1. Click BLAST OFF. 2. Your My Profile page will appear. Complete your My Profile page with the correct information. 3. You have the option to change your password. Leave it blank if you do not want to change your password at this time. 4. Click SAVE. 5. To come back to this screen, click on My Profile after you hover over your name in the upper right corner. 7 Requesting Mission Dates To request your mission dates: 1) Complete your profile for the site. 2) Watch for notification that the system is open to receive mission reservations. 3) Reserve your mission with Challenger Center Hawaii by clicking on the RESERVE NEW MIS- SION DATES, enter information and click on REQUEST DATES. You will receive confirmation via . Once the above steps are done, follow the next set of instructions to complete your mission 1. Click BLAST OFF. 2. To request a mission date, click on RESERVE NEW MISSION DATES. 3. Enter information and click on REQUEST DATES. You will receive confirmation of your request. 8 Setting Up Your Mission/Administering Online Pre and Post Tests Once you have scheduled your mission(s), follow the next set of instructions to complete your mission set up. 1. Click BLAST OFF or the MISSIONS icon. 2. Your Missions will be displayed by date. If your mission isn t listed, please contact CCHI at (808) Select the mission you would like to view. Click the icon next to the date for details. 4. After the mission details expand, you can select the task you would like to view. 5. Click on PRE-TEST SCORES. You have the option of using either the Mission-Specific URL or Teacher-Specific URL to administer the Online Pre-Test to your students. As students submit their test, they will be added to your class list. Once students are assigned to a mission, your Student Information will populate with names from the online test and you can move on to creating your crew manifest. After the mission you can administer the Post-Test Online by using the URL found by clicking on POST- TEST SCORES in the mission details list. Go to step 6 ONLY if you are administering the Pre-Test using the paper and pencil method. Rev CCHI Online Mission Management System Teacher Instruction Manual 8
9 Setting Up Your Mission Continued 6. If you prefer to administer the test using the paper & pencil method, you can manually enter students to your Class Information. 7. Click on CLASS INFORMATION. The Class Information form will appear. Complete the information. The teacher count should reflect all Challenger Center Hawaii certified teachers. All other adults accompanying students on the mission should be listed as Chaperones. 8. SAVE buttons are located in the middle and at the end of the page for your convenience. 9. Scroll down and enter your students first and last names. 10. Click SAVE. Now you may move on to pre/post test scores and creating your crew manifest. 10 Manually Entering Pre and Post Test Scores You can manually enter test scores on the Pre/Post Test Score page. (If you use the Online Test, you will not need to manually enter scores, but do need to enter the Date Given and click SUBMIT.) 1. Click on the PRE & POST TEST SCORES tab. 2. Enter the Date Given and your students pre-test scores in the Pre-Test column. When completed, post-test scores are entered the same way in the Post-Test column. 3. Click SAVE if you would like to save your progress and return later to make changes. Click SUBMIT only when all scores have been entered and no changes need to be made. Once submitted, scores will lock and you will not be able to make any changes. If you need your scores to be unlocked due to an error, please contact CCHI for assistance. 11 Creating and Changing Your Crew Manifest The Crew Manifest must be submitted at least one week prior to the date of your mission. Follow the instructions below and assign one student to each required station to complete your Crew Manifest. 1. Click on CREW MANIFEST tab to assign students to their stations. 2. For station descriptions, click on the question mark icon beside each station. 3. Click SAVE if you would like to save your progress and return later to make changes. Click SUBMIT when all students have been assigned to a station and no forseeable changes need to be made. If you do make changes, Click SAVE and RESEND TO CCHI. You may print the manifest with your browser s menu: FILE > PRINT. Once the Crew Manifest is complete, you will be able to print the students name tags. Follow the instructions in the next section for this task. Please note: For best results, print the Crew Manifest using Safari web browser, version 7.0 or higher. Printing with other browsers or older browsers may not print correctly. As an alternative, you may take a screen capture (snapshot) and print. 12 Creating and Printing Name Tags Making changes to the name tags: 1. If you need to change a student s name on the name tag, change it in the Class Information list of students. It will then be reflected in ALL areas where the student s name appears, including the name tag. 2. If you need to change position on the name tag, change it in the Crew Manifest section. It will then be reflected in ALL areas where the student s position appears, including the name tag. Once the Crew Manifest is complete, follow the instructions below to print your students name tags. 1. Click the MISSIONS icon in the navigation menu. 2. Select the Mission for which you would like to print Name tags. 3. Click NAME TAGS in the listed information. 4. For best results, print Name tags using Safari web browser, version 7.0 or higher. 13 Printing Name Tags Continued 5. In the print dialogue box in Safari, uncheck Print backgrounds & Print headers and footers. 6. The preview should show 8 name tags per sheet. 7. Click PRINT. 14 Accessing Reports Once you complete your mission, and submit the post-test scores, the reports tab will display links to your class results. Follow the instructions below to access the reports: 1. Click the MISSIONS icon in the navigation menu. 2. Select the Mission for which you would like to view reports. 3. Click VIEW REPORTS. You will see the list of reports: Assessment Scores - Mission Control: The ipad assessment results from Challenger Center Hawaii s Mission Control. Assessment Scores - Space Station: The ipad assessment results from Challenger Center Hawaii s Space Station. Assessment Scores - Teacher: The ipad assessment results you submitted for the overall mission. Assessment Comments: Provides comments written for each student by each evaluator. Progress Reports - Mission Control & Space Station: Shows tasks students completed at each station. Challenger Center of Hawaii Recommendations: Provides recommendations on student placement and identifies the skills that students showed need for practice. Online Pre- and Post- Test Answer Comparison: Shows how students answered each test question. Pre/Post Percent Improvement by Student (table): Shows your class improvement in a table format using the pre and post test scores you submitted. Pre/Post Percent Improvement by Student (graph): Shows your class improvement in a graph format using the pre and post test scores you submitted. Pre/Post Scatter Plot Comparative: This report is a scatter plot to show your class improvement in comparison to other classes. 15 How to Print Student Certificates 1. Click the MISSIONS icon in the navigation menu. 2. Select the Mission for which you would like to print certificates. 3. Click on STUDENT CERTIFICATES. 4. Certificates will download from the website for each student listed on the manifest. 5. Student certificates can be printed. Certificates will print two to a page.
