2 Welcome to Planet Education your home for inspiring education through sport Planet Education was founded with the sole objective of giving every child and young person access to high quality PE and sport tuition, whether working with the public or private sectors. At the very heart of what we do and core to our success and subsequent growth have been the principles of respect, integrity, equality and putting the children in our care first. We recognise every child is unique and we make it our duty to make them feel valued through our ongoing commitment to provide high quality sports activities for children and young people, regardless of their age, gender, ability or race. Respect and integrity are the cornerstones of that. Both are as fundamental in sport as they are in life. We are unstinting in the application of fair play and encourage high standards of behaviour in all our sessions. Our aim is to provide positive experiences, encourage all to participate and promote a healthy attitude for life. We focus on the development and progression of every person, often within a team framework. What we do goes beyond coaching. It s a passion for encouraging children to fully experience, embrace and enjoy PE and sport. That passion and the way we work in partnership with parents, teachers, nurseries, schools, education authorities, local communities, sporting bodies and charities, has enabled us to grow to become one of the UK s largest PE and sports providers in this specialist arena. Our reputation for excellence underpins everything we do. We re proud of it. You can rely on it. Developing over 50,000 children 150 Primary, Secondary & Special Educational Needs Schools Supporting over 4,000 teachers Delivering over 500 courses
3 Our values. Our foundations. Act with integrity & professionalism at all times Treat everyone equally & with respect Be passionate & determined Embrace & drive change Pursue growth & learning Build open & honest relationships with effective communication Planet Education are a fantastic addition to our school, our children have flourished and have become more confident in new and different skills. Promote active, healthy and fun lifestyles through physical activity Mr. M. Lambert, Headteacher at Wallop Primary School, Hampshire
4 Our Services Primary & Secondary School Curricular PE Inspiring the next generation Our vision, our passion is to provide everyone a journey, an opportunity to grow and develop with us using sport and physical activity as the positive vehicle for their development and success. Bright Stars Programme Our innovative Bright Stars programme aimed at Nurseries/Pre-schools is a selection of fun-packed, multi-skill activities specifically for nursery age children. It has been created with the five early learning goals designed and built in. move with confidence, imagination and safety, with control and coordination. show awareness of space, of themselves and others. recognise the importance of keeping healthy and what contributes to this, including recognising the changes that take place in their bodies when they re active. use a range of small and large equipment. travel around, under, over and through balancing and climbing equipment. Bright Stars covers all the essentials using imagination, creativity and fun to develop skills while also developing the key ABC of Agility, Balance and Coordination. We tailor PE solutions to meet the diverse and specific needs of the schools we work with. As in everything we do our aim is to encourage and increase participation amongst all children and young people to give them a positive experience in PE and Sport. Our expertise ranges from developing those all important ABCs (Agility, Balance and Coordination) and promoting healthy competition through inter and intra-school sport events, right through to delivering physical literacy. The latter enables pupils to: acquire and develop their fine and gross motor skills and techniques. select and apply these skills to solve physical problems and refine their performance. observe and learn to analyse, evaluate and improve their own skills, and those of others. develop their knowledge, skill and understanding of safe practice and how fitness benefits performance and health. The aim is that all pupils should be empowered to solve problems while enhancing their creative thinking, evaluation and reasoning skills. Plus, they will learn to work together and communicate more effectively in various physical, visual, oral and written ways. We know that evidence is important in all that we do which is why we can provide and assist with completing assessments at agreed intervals throughout the school year.
5 Special Educational Needs/ Disability Sport We don t just talk opportunity for ALL, we live it. We ve been at the forefront of PE and sports coaching provision to nurseries, primary schools and secondary schools for many years, we are perfectly positioned to bring the expertise we have and experience we ve gained to bear for Special Educational Needs (SEN) schools. Our passion and commitment has always been to encourage participation in sport for children of all ages and ALL abilities. It s that passion and commitment which has led us to design our coaching programmes and classes for children with special educational needs. Our sports coaching for SEN schools enables children to have fun and enjoy themselves while improving their well-being. It gives them the chance to experience a wide range of sports, increase their confidence and thrive and grow within their abilities. Teacher & Learning Assistant Support Besides helping you to deliver your schools high quality PE and Sport objectives we can enhance what you and your staff can achieve with a wide range of teacher support services, these include; Supporting staff development We can work with your teachers and Learning Support Assistants to support their own CPD in PE. These include; Sports Leaders UK Awards Developing the next generation of leaders The awards available from Sports Leaders UK give young people the experience they need to improve their life skills through sports leadership. We offer a range of Sports Leaders UK courses, from the PlayMaker Award, Young Leader Award to the exclusive Women, Get set, Go! 8 Testimonials our reputation is your peace of mind I have to say both Lydia and I were extremely impressed with everything Planet Education provided for our 2015 Summer School. The relationships that the coaches built with the children was fantastic and really made the children feel comfortable which in turn will have helped them participate and enjoy the sport and activities more. I am familiar with the Planet Education team and having used you for my holiday activities, I know that we are in completely safe hands so I really had no worries at all. Lydia however didn t have any experience of you and was basically taking my recommendation. So for her, she was so completely thrilled with how it all worked out. We hope this will be the start of a great partnership for the Summer School. Abigail Wells, Activities Manager at Highfield School. Planet Education staff are always enthusiastic! They plan exciting lessons and liaise with teachers so that Early Years goals can be worked toward and met. The children are always keen and excited when the team are in school, the staff praise and encourage the children and support them in their development which has led to good development in their physical progression. Headteacher at Riders Infant School, Hampshire. We have been using Planet Education to provide some differentiated PE skills this academic year and have been impressed how the staff have adapted to the diverse needs of our children. PE lessons have included creative movement, Athletics and FUN's. The children have been engaged and able to develop new skills whilst being taught by professional PE coaches. We are very pleased to be working with Planet Education and would highly recommend them. Gemma Storey, PE Co-ordinator at Riverside Community Special School, Waterlooville. It has been very difficult to find an appropriate inclusive sports club for our son Rowan, aged 12, who has complex special needs (including physical, speech and learning difficulties). Planet Education s Disability Club in Portsmouth has provided a very safe, welcoming and stimulating environment for him and he cannot wait to attend every Thursday! He loves having the independence to try new activities, but with the support and encouragement of coaches Joe, Lee and Rhys who run a balance of both structured and more flexible activities. The equipment and activities are varied, well thought out and often adapted/specialised to meet his needs. Rowan is at a stage where he is desperate to have the opportunity socialise and make new friends - he sees both the children and coaches as just that!
