1 Subject: Performance of domestic airlines for the year Traffic data submitted by various domestic airlines has been analysed for the month of Feb Following are the salient features: Passenger Growth Passengers carried by domestic airlines during Jan-Feb 2015 were as against during the corresponding period of previous year thereby registering a growth of 21.48% (Ref Table 1). Pax Carried (in Lakhs) Growth: YoY = % MoM = % YoY MoM Passenger Load Factor The passenger load factors of various scheduled domestic airlines in Feb 2015 are as follows (Ref Table 2): Jan-15 Feb Pax Load Factor (%) Air India Jet Airways JetLite Spicejet Go Air IndiGo Air Costa Air Asia Vistara 1

2 The passenger load factor in the month of Feb 2015 has shown increasing trend compared to previous month due to the reduction of additional flights by airlines and distribution of load on existing flights. Cancellations The overall cancellation rate of scheduled domestic airlines for the month of Feb 2015 has been 0.60%.The overall cancelation rate is low due to resumption of clear weather at airports in Northern India. Airline-wise details of cancellations are as follows: Vistara JetLite Air Asia Spicejet Air India (Dom) Go Air Jet Airways IndiGo Air Costa Cancellation Rate (%) Various reasons of cancellations are indicated below: Conse/Misc 32.0% Technical 18.5% Operational 5.1% Commercial 3.6% Weather 40.7% 2

3 Passenger Complaints during the month During Feb 2015, a total of 1092 passenger related complaints had been received by the scheduled domestic airlines. The number of complaints per 10,000 passengers carried for the month of Feb 2015 has been 1.8. The airline-wise details are as follows: Spicejet 4.5 Go Air Air India (Dom) Air Asia 1.8 Jet Airways+JetLite 1.5 IndiGo 1.0 Air Costa 0.8 Vistara No. of Complaints/10,000 Pax Various reasons of passenger complaints are indicated below: Staff Behaviour 5.6% Disability 0.1% Catering 0.8% Others 7.7% Fare 0.6% Refund 10.0% Customer Service 23.4% Flight Problem 29.9% Baggage 21.8% 3

5 On-Time Performance (Scheduled Domestic Airlines) On-Time Performance (OTP) of scheduled domestic airlines has been computed for four metro airports viz. Bangalore, Delhi, Hyderabad and Mumbai. At the time of compilation of this report, OTP data of 45 carriers was received. The overall On-Time Performance (OTP) of these 45 carriers for the month of Feb 2015 has been 79.8% in departures and 78.4% in arrivals.
