1 26th February 2016 Weekly Newsletter Dear Parents and Carers, I would like to thank all of you who responded to the survey to help us form our new vision for The Deanes School. After collating the responses submitted by parents, students and staff, the Senior Leadership Team and the Governing Body are now pleased to reveal Our Promises. The key element to all of this is that at The Deanes everyone matters. Students matter, parents & carers matter and staff matter. We all matter as individuals and we matter as part of a community. Promise #1: imatter as an individual We will remain a small secondary school so that each and every one of our students can feel happy, respected and known as an individual within our safe and accepting community. Promise#2: imatter as a learner We will continue to create a positive and respectful environment for all members of The Deanes School, with consistently high expectations and standards. Promise#3: imatter as a student Our curriculum will cater for individual strengths and needs, enabling every student to make outstanding progress and achieve their goals. Promise#4: imatter as a future citizen Extensive opportunities for personal development will equip our students with the skills, attributes and values needed for future life. Promise#5: imatter as a parent/carer Parents and carers will remain central to our school community. We want the families of our students to be fully engaged with all aspects of school life to ensure the most rewarding learning experience for their child.

2 Promise #6: imatter as an employee All staff will have access to high quality training to help them develop as professionals, and ensure the highest possible outcomes for students, as well as opportunities to pursue their own passions. I am sure you will agree that these Promises reflect the new direction we have taken as a school, and hope that you are as excited as we are about the developments and progress that we have seen over the past year. I hope you all have a very good weekend; I am particularly looking forward to working with my group of dedicated Year 11 GCSE Statistics students tomorrow morning, while I supervise this month s Saturday morning detention.
