4 HUDSON VALLEY COMMUNITY COLLEGE TROY, NEW YORK ADDENDUM FOR BOARD OF TRUSTEES AGENDA March 20, 2002 I. PRESIDENT S HOUSE 4 Request is made for approval of the following resolution: WHEREAS, On January 8, 2002, the Rensselaer County Legislature adopted a resolution which authorized Hudson Valley Community College to convey certain real property designated as Lots 24, 24A and 25, East Acres, in the Town of Brunswick, together with the improvements situated on such lots, all of which are more commonly known as the residence of the President of Hudson Valley Community College; and WHEREAS, In furtherance of the foregoing authorization and in accordance with Section 215 of the County Law, Hudson Valley Community College publicized, by way of legal notice, its intent to accept bids to purchase the property and award the sale of the property to the highest responsible bidder; and WHEREAS, Hudson Valley Community College publicly opened all bids submitted in furtherance of this notice and determined that the highest responsible bidder was Paul and Ann Kolakowski who have offered to purchase the property for Two Hundred Eighty-One Thousand One Hundred Dollars ($281,100.00); and WHEREAS, Upon consideration of this bid in comparison with other bids submitted, the President of the College has accepted the Kolakowski bid under the terms set forth in the Purchase Contract attached hereto and now requests the Board to ratify and confirm such acceptance; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, that the bid submitted by Paul and Ann Kolakowski to purchase what is commonly known as the residence of the President of Hudson Valley Community College in the amount of Two Hundred Eighty-One Thousand One Hundred Dollars ($281,100.00) is hereby deemed the highest responsible bid; and it is further RESOLVED, that the acceptance of the Kolakowski bid under the terms set forth in the Purchase Contract attached hereto is hereby ratified and confirmed. II. LASALLE PROPERTY Request is made for approval of the following resolution: WHEREAS, LaSalle Institute of Troy, N.Y. holds title to certain real property that is contiguous to property owned by the County of Rensselaer as trustee for Hudson Valley Community College and the Faculty-Student Association of Hudson Valley Community College; and WHEREAS, LaSalle desires to convey and Hudson Valley Community College desires to accept, for consideration of one dollar ($1.00), a triangular tract of land consisting of approximately.164 acres; and
5 5 HUDSON VALLEY COMMUNITY COLLEGE TROY, NEW YORK ADDENDUM FOR BOARD OF TRUSTEES AGENDA March 20, 2002 WHEREAS, the conveyance of said tract of land has been deemed necessary to enhance the flow of traffic on the College s campus, now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, that the College hereby approves and accepts the conveyance of said tract of land from LaSalle Institute of Troy, for consideration of one dollar ($1.00); and it is further RESOLVED, that the County of Rensselaer is requested to accept the property being conveyed, on behalf of Hudson Valley Community College, and to hold same in trust for the use and purposes of the College; and it is further RESOLVED, that the County of Rensselaer is hereby authorized and requested to execute any agreements, together with any deeds and other related instruments required to complete such transaction on behalf of and for the benefit of Hudson Valley Community College. NAMING OF THE BASEBALL STADIUM WHEREAS, It is consistent with the sense of this board to recognize and preserve the contributions of citizens of this county whose superior achievements have added to the vitality of this community; and WHEREAS, Honorable Joseph L. Bruno, New York State Senate Majority Leader, is one such individual; his unwavering commitment to improve the quality of our community has enriched the lives of many; and WHEREAS, As a New York State Senator, Joseph L. Bruno has supported a multitude of community organizations; since becoming Senate Majority Leader, Senator Bruno has helped to provide millions of dollars in financial assistance to the City of Troy, funded important projects at Hudson Valley Community College, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Albany International Airport, and aided economic development in general throughout the county; and WHEREAS, Senator Bruno, in keeping with his historic level of support for Rensselaer County and the entire Capital Region, secured state funding for a baseball stadium for Hudson Valley Community College; and WHEREAS, The proposed baseball stadium will benefit not only students at Hudson Valley Community College by the development of scholastic athletic programs, but also, our entire area as a tremendous asset, attracting professional baseball back to Troy after an absence of nearly 100 years; and WHEREAS, It is the collective sense of this board that it would be most fitting and suitable to bestow accolades and praise to Senator Bruno for his many contributions to the citizens of Rensselaer County, as well as to the entire Capital Region; now, therefore, be it
6 6 RESOLVED, That the college s Board of Trustees considers it a deep honor to hereby designate and name the Hudson Valley Community College baseball facility, upon its completion, the Joseph L. Bruno Stadium.
