2 CONTENTS OF THE SEMESTER INTRO WEEK WEEK 35 Schedule for week 35 Tuesday the 25 th of August and half of Wednesday the 26 th of August is an introduction to the study, each other, and the teachers. From Wednesday 26 th at 13:00 PM and until Friday the 28 th at 24:00 the students will be working in groups on the PBIE innovation & entrepreneurship challenge. The PBIE innovation & entrepreneurship challenge is a 3 day event, where the students compete in groups on earning as much money as possible. The money earned are savings for: The study trip on semester 2, spring 2016 The PBIE study start party, see below for specific date Tuesday the 25 th at 9:00-15:00: Introduction to the study at Sverigesgade 5, 3rd floor, X-LAB Wednesday the 26 th 9:00 10:30 AM: Photos and studycard at Nonnebakken 9 by the study administration Wednesday the 26 th at 11:00 AM: Introduction to Fronter and The PBIE Association Wednesday the 26 th at 13:00: Introduction to the PBIE innovation & entrepreneurship challenge Monday the 31 st at 8:30: Pitching the results of the PBIE innovation & entrepreneurship challenge Friday the 11 th of September at 18:00 PM: the PBIE study start party See specific program for the intro week in the intro week letter. 2/14

3 ENTREPRENEURIAL MINDSET Project 1: Week 36 and 37 Being a successful entrepreneur or intrapreneur implies an ongoing analysis and reflection upon personal strengths and weaknesses, possibilities and challenges. Alongside these analysis and reflections it is important to create awareness on how the individual student deals with opportunities and challenges in his/her professional life. The aim is to enhance an innovative, entrepreneurial mindset by defining MEANS -GOALS - INTER- ACTIONS ACTIONS. The mandatory deliveries of the two weeks are: 2-pager on the students personal mindset: vision, mission, personal goals + an updatet CV 20 minutes of feedback dialogue with a lecturer on future plans and goals Attending a one-day seminar on Group Dynamics, where study groups are formed The following subjects are represented during the two weeks: Entrepreneurial Mindset Theoretical Innovation Group Dynamics Network Theory Business Economics Sales, Marketing & Customer Relations Philosophy of Science & Methodology ENTREPRENEURSHIP Project 2: Week 38-41, week 47, partly week 48 and 49 The student works with themes and topics concerning establishment of one s own business. The themes and topics are presented in two ways: 3/14

4 5 workshop days, working in interdisciplinary groups with other top-up bachelor students at EAL. The 5 workshop days are conducted by The Danish Foundation of Entrepreneurship and Microsoft Theoretical sessions for PBIE students in various subject concerning startups. See below. Furthermore, the students in project 2 facilitate other students on AP level in a 3 day workshop. The mandatory deliveries of the weeks are: Handing in a two-pager for The Danish Foundation of Entrepreneurship s idea competition and participating at the conference Danish Entrepreneurship Award on November 19 th 2015 Multiple Choice tests in: 1) Sales, Marketing & Customer Relations, and 2) Entrepreneurship in Theory & Practice, and 3) Network Theory Attending the 5 workshop days with The Danish Foundation of Entrepreneurship and Microsoft Attending the 3 days of facilitation for AP students on Monday the 23 rd of September Wednesday the 25 th of September +1 day of preliminary training on Friday the 18 th of September Handing in designated assignments from the subject Business Economics. The following subjects are represented during the four weeks: Philosophy of Science & Methodology Sales, Marketing & Customer Relations Entrepreneurship in Theory & Practice Creative Processes Business Economics ORAL EXAM TRY-OUT 4/14

5 Week 43 Further information to be announced later on in the semester. The oral exam try-out is a mandatory activity. INTRAPRENEURSHIP Project 3: Week 44-46, partly week 48 and 49 Project 3 is designed to develop the student s knowledge, skills, and competences on subjects concerning intrapreneurship. The mandatory deliveries of the project weeks are: Multiple choice tests in: 1) Online Sales & E-Commerce, 2) Organizational Theory, and 3) Theoretical Innovation Attending a one day workshop in Law Attending 2 days of workshop in Illustration & Prototyping. The following subjects are represented during the project weeks: Theoretical Innovation Project Management and Group Dynamics Organizational Theory Illustration & Prototyping Law Online Sales & E-Commerce GLOBAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP WEEK Week 47 5/14

6 Global Entrepreneurship Week is the world s largest celebration of the innovators and job creators, who launch startups that bring ideas to life, drive economic growth and expand human welfare. During one week each November, GEW inspires people everywhere through local, national and global activities designed to help them explore their potential as self-starters and innovators. These activities, from large-scale competitions and events to intimate networking gatherings, connect participants to potential collaborators, mentors and even investors introducing them to new possibilities and exciting opportunities. Read more here: PROJECT WORK EXAM Preparing for the exam: Week The students work in groups on the written report for the 1st internal exam. The work includes: Defining problem statement, delimitations, philosophy of science, and research design (desk- and field research) Setting up research design for field research and executing field research Studying literature (desk research) Writing the report Recommended: Voluntary: 1 workshop day on writing a good exam report 6/14

7 EXAMS 1 ST INTERNAL EXAM Written report and oral exam The 1 st internal exam is an overall exam covering all subjects within semester one on the PBA in Innovation & Entrepreneurship. See specifics in the PBIE curriculum. Important dates: Launch date for the description of the exam on Fronter Friday the 20 th of November at 10:00 o clock Hand-in date of written report: Monday the 21 st of December at 10:00 o clock in designated folder on Fronter Oral exams in groups: 6 th and 7 th of January /14

8 ACTIVE SEMESTER APPROVAL, MULTIPLE CHOICE TESTS & MANDATORY ACTIVITIES ACTIVE SEMESTER APPROVAL The PBIE is a full-time study with expected attendance 37 hours a week. In average there is 12 lectures (90 minutes) each week during semester 1. All in all the PBIE study is considered on equal terms with a traditional job. Therefor the student must have 95% lecture attendance during semester 1. Besides the lectures, the student is expected to participate in workshops, presentations, events, tests, hand-in s and group work. See below for specifics. Participation in workshops, presentations, events, tests, hand-in s and group work is administered through a game system, where each student is granted maximum 250 points. Each mandatory activity, hand-in, and test is equivalent to 10 points. The student can afford to lose 40 points in total. If the student gets less than 210 points, the student will have to do a 90 minutes presentation of his/her own choice within the curriculum of the PBIE study. The student must achieve points before attending the first semester exam.
