Our aim is to describe the entirety, the architecture and to provide an image of our products in their actual context. We give the architect the opportunity to describe his project together with the wishes and requirements that have created the building. In our opinion, the differences in architecture, standards, requirements and construction that can be found in different countries give a good and exciting picture of the contemporary building projects in Europe. We are now facing an exciting period with several important goals to achieve and challenges to meet. Energy conservation and environment protection issues are being focused upon to an ever-growing extent, which entails increased requirements on constructions and building processes. It is our ambition to continue the constant development of products that facilitate improvements in these areas. 5 Three block shaped buildings in three shades of grey. The Chabo house opens towards the Aschebergsgatan street like an angular C. The impression of the three interconnected solids is emphasised by the façades in three different shades of grey. The location of the windows and French doors results in an interesting rhythm in the façade. The lowest block with the light grey façade is five storeys high. The medium building has eight storeys and stretches along the Gibraltargatan street with a medium grey façade. The highest part, located at the foot of the Kemihuset building, is dark grey and twelve storeys high. There is a total of 479 apartments in Chabo. Most of them are one-room flats (27 m2) with a kitchenette, a spacious bathroom, a French balcony and access to a bicycle garage. There is also a number of bigger apartments. All apartments are adapted for disabled access.

6 Haugesund, Norway Karmsund Upper Secondary School The new upper secondary school in the Salhusvegen street is a result of a decision taken by the municipal authorities to make the existing schools Storasund, Karmsund and Haugesund Maritime into one. The three schools include: Storasund Health and Social Faculty with a department for specially adapted education. Karmsund Hotel and Catering Faculty. Haugesund Maritime all technical schools. The new school will have approx. 800 students and 148 staff including administration, teachers and maintenance. Extension design: The design is based on an axis which starts at the entrance in the Salhusvegen street and ends by the fjord. The main communication and shared areas are arranged along this axis with the main complex including canteen, restaurant, auditorium and library situated in the shore zone. The area is defined structurally as a light long block with the individual departments defined as adjoining heavier blocks. The design combines the requirement of integration, togetherness and individual identification. Façades/form expression: The facility is characterised by the longitudinal block extending in the east-west direction with the other departments adjoining to it. The long block gets its expression from the light nature of glass and wood. The lightness of this block is opposed to the other buildings with their heavy painted concrete structures. The façade of the Haugesund Maritime will be preserved. Only the blue panels will be replaced, the windows painted and the building cleaned/painted. Foto 2, 3 och 4: Leif Jönsson The architect s description: The form language is pure and clear, giving the building a modern high class appearance. The IQ house which consists of two buildings with a through entrance street has a pure exterior consisting of white and black polished concrete, horizontal window strips of aluminium and a warm contribution of yellow colour and wood. The interior is arranged in white, light grey and oak. Sapa solar protection is integrated in the façade elements which creates conditions for beautiful and technically correct fixtures. The solar protection louvers have the form of an aircraft wing and are painted yellow in order to obtain a warm contrast to the white, black and grey colour scheme of the building. The project includes window elements, fully glazed façades, fire rated façades, door elements and solar protection. All the elements have been delivered by Preconal Fasad AB. 10 Malmö, Sweden Office building in the Scylla block The architect s description: In 2001 Skanska Öresund invited architects to create a modern, flexible and beautiful office building in one of Malmö s finest locations. After an evaluation of the proposals, we were asked to continue our work and to execute the project together with Skanska. The fantastic view created the basis for the form of the building. By positioning the two new building blocks at right angles to the quay we were able to offer the view to most of the occupants. With the asymmetric division of the glass façade and its coloured fields we obtained a playfulness which creates a contrast to the otherwise quite sober plastered façades. We are now satisfied tenants in the building ourselves and we take advantage of the opportunities offered by the house and the place on a daily basis with a view in all directions and the vicinity of the means of communication that take us further ahead in our business. 13 The architect s description: The architectural idea for the new multipurpose hall, formed as a pronounced cylindrical arena, is that it shall become the obvious centre of the Arena Nord complex with the existing sports halls around a light, spacious and varied foyer. The existing halls and the new multipurpose hall are joined by an inner foyer in which the different halls are distinguished by individual entrances in a scale that gives the facility human and clear dimensions. Between the halls it is possible to orient oneself in relation to the outside through the big glass façades overlooking the green areas in the neighbourhood and the surrounding landscape. The circular building structure, the form of which can be described as a point, is supposed to emphasise the role of Arena Nord as the sports and cultural centre of Fredrikshavn. Hugo Nøhr 13

Bergfjord & Ivarson were the architects who designed Löfbergs Lila Arena in Karlstad which became the new home of the Färjestads BK club after the arena had been inaugurated in Löfbergs Lila Arena has also become the model for many of the new arenas which are now being built all over the ice hockey Sweden. Färjestads BK and other clubs in the Elite League have realised that their arenas must be able to attract a broader public and families. The arenas must also function for events other than ice hockey: concerts, conferences and other sports. Other forms of commercial activity, such as shops, must also be available in the arena or its direct vicinity. The task in Karlstad was to design an ice hockey arena which could also be used for other events. In Cloetta Center in Linköping it was practically 14

15 the general expectation it is an event arena in which one can also play ice hockey, says Ulf Bergfjord. An arena which shall invite ice hockey fans one day and concert visitors the next day must by definition be significantly more comfortable and flexible than the old ice hockey halls. The new arenas are a bit like the town s new market place, a place where you go to see and be seen, says Ulf Bergfjord. Following the example of Löfbergs Lila Arena, a number of other Elite League clubs have built new arenas or converted their existing halls. Bergfjord & Ivarson have also designed Swedbank Arena in Örnsköldsvik, Läkerol Arena in Gävle and Cloetta Center in Linköping. Löfbergs Lila was the predecessor and I think the concept is still up to date, says Ulf Bergfjord. 17 Talo Tikkanen is a house for four people built in the residential fair area in Esbo. The main theme of the house is light and the connection between the inside and the outside space. The big glazed surfaces create a distinctive, simplified and modern impression. The façade shell is flush with the wall in order to obtain the maximum clear dimension possible. The GSP concept. GSP has specialised in service, quality and personality. The architect offices are responsible for a personal house design prepared together with the customer. GSP offers design and construction services as well as construction related consulting services including the purchase of the building site. The GSP concept is marketed to families which appreciate the living and building quality and look for a comprehensive service. The aim of this concept is also to reduce the scope of direct on-site construction work, mainly in order to prevent defects and improve the quality. The co-operating partners represent expertise in their own fields of activity and Sapa Building System is the system supplier of windows, doors and façades. The participating partners also get a considerable added value for their products as well as a positive image and a completely new marketing channel. 18 Newcastle, United Kingdom Shearer`s Bar St. James Park A new Sports Bar/lounge that is located at one end of the Newcastle United St James Park stadium. The bar which is named after the Newcastle number nine must be one of the largest in town with 3 levels. There is an impressive glass frontage that spans the length of the exhibition stand (Gallowgate end). The ground level has a long bar and is decked out in a modern style. 18
