SHORT-TERM MISSION TRIPS SHORT-TERM TRIPS, LONG-TERM EFFECTS! Who Do We Send on Mission Trips? Church Groups Sports Teams Senior Class Trips Medical/Dental Teams Construction Teams Musicians/Choirs Families and Friends SCORE International has taken over 27,000 people on short-term missions trips in the past five years. Groups receive the benefit of SCORE s 30 years of experience organizing, and planning the entire trip for you. The CORE of SCORE is Christ Our Redeemer. Our goal is to evangelize the lost while engaging and equipping the church to fulfill the mandate of Jesus in Acts 1:8. Groups that travel with SCORE will experience the mission field first hand as they work alongside our field missionaries. Call us today to find out more information. International Destinations: Dominican Republic Costa Rica Panama Brazil Argentina Honduras Jamaica Haiti Wherever God leads you International trips include lodging, meals, ground transportation, interpreters, trip insurance, ministry set-up, and trip coordinator. It is with a great sense of joy that I commend the Christhonoring ministry of SCORE International. God has used this incredible ministry to touch many countries with the Gospel of Christ being presented to thousands. Woodstock has been greatly blessed by this relationship. Dr. Johnny Hunt, Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church, Woodstock, Georgia. Domestic Destinations: Appalachia Inner City Coastal New York City Relief Trips Each trip will be coordinated by our staff who will provide information about your trip, including who you will be serving and the kind of ministry projects your group will complete. Three nights during the week, groups will participate in a worship service held by the trip coordinator. The ministry of SCORE International is spiritual, professional, relational and intentional in winning people to Christ. It has been our joy to partner with them, and our partnership continues. Ken Whitten, Senior Pastor of Idlewild Baptist Church in Tampa, Florida and Board Member of the International Mission Board.
INTERNATIONAL TRIP INFORMATION What to expect on an international trip While on your trip, you will be staying at the SCORE Facilities unless other arrangements have been made. In some of the countries, you will stay in a hotel or at a Mission Organization s facilities. With either housing arrangement, meals are provided. Once you arrive, a SCORE representative will meet you at the airport and transport your group to your lodging facility. There you will be greeted by the SCORE Missionary serving in the field, and they will give you an itinerary of events for each day. You can expect to serve in various ministry opportunities each day, with one or two days reserved for planned excursions for fun. Score will provide buses or vans in country to take you from the hotel to the areas you will be serving. A SCORE Missionary, along with interpreters, will be with your group when you travel to serve in each ministry location. Ministry projects include:: Vacation Bible Schools Puppet Shows Sports Games and Clinics Musical Presentations Skits and Dramas Painting Projects Construction Work Street Evangelism Orphanage Work Tract Distribution Food Distribution Trip participants will experience the mission field. Through SCORE s short-term trips, many people have the opportunity to participate in what God is already doing through ministries already in place, and come alongside the local church and missionaries. Trip participants will have a leisure day. Groups usually participate in ministry for 5 days and then choose one leisure day where they can choose from the following activities. Here is just a sample listing of leisure opportunities available: Snorkeling White Water Rafting Horseback Riding Zip Line in the rain forest Visit a inactive volcano Spend a day at the beach resort Don t forget your Passport! Passports are REQUIRED for all U.S. citizens traveling out of country! Please check your passport to see if it is valid and when it expires. In some countries your passport may need to be valid at least 90 days after the date of travel, so please check your expiration date. A SCORE trip is NOT just another trip or a vacation. It is one step in the direction of life-long devotion to God and fulfilling the Great Commission. In some cases, our short-term trips have inspired people to become full time missionaries.
DOMESTIC TRIP INFORMATION What to expect on a domestic trip SCORE Domestic plans and facilitates domestic trips in four key areas; Appalachia, Coastal, Inner City, and New York relief trips. Each trip will be coordinated by our staff who will provide information about your trip, including who you will be serving and the kind of ministry projects your group will complete. Three nights during the week, groups will participate in a worship service held by the trip coordinator. Our objective is to partner with you as you engage in being on mission with God. We know that these trips create life changing experiences that your group will never forget. Ministry projects include: Home repair Physical projects painting, clean-up Vacation Bible School Sports camps Back yard Bible clubs Concerts, drama presentations Servant evangelism New York relief trips APPALACHIA INNER CITY COASTAL Log on to to get dates and locations.
INTERNATIONAL TRIP F.A.Q s Is SCORE an acronym for something?? Yes. SCORE stands for Sharing Christ Our Redeemer Enterprises. How long are the mission trips? Typically they are one week to 10 days long. Most groups find it easiest to leave from home on a Saturday and return from the mission field on a Saturday. Do I need to have a passport? Yes, you do need a passport to travel overseas with SCORE. Effective as of January 1, 2006, the U. S. government requires all citizens from the USA to have a passport to travel overseas. You will need to have a current, valid passport to go on a SCORE trip. Where do groups stay while overseas? It depends upon the destination. In countries such as Dominican Republic and Costa Rica, SCORE owns hotels and all trip participants will stay there unless notified otherwise. In other countries SCORE will rent hotel rooms or have groups stay at the facilities of other missions organizations. What types of ministry can our group do? The options are truly limitless, but here are a few examples: Vacation Bible School programs, puppet shows, tract distribution, light construction work, visit schools, and orphanages, etc. Are there age limits to go on a SCORE trip? SCORE does not enforce any age limits. However, most individuals that go are at least 16 years old. There are people under age 16 who go, but it is typically with an adult family member. How can I contact my child? You will be provided with an EMERGENCY number of the SCORE representative who will be on the trip. However, this is for EMERGENCIES ONLY and all other calls must come through the SCORE home office at Is the deposit applied to the cost of my trip? Yes, your deposit is applied towards your final balance. How much spending money should I take? $150-$200 is sufficient. Take in small denominations. When does the cost of my trip have to be paid? All accounts are due 45 days prior to departure of your trip. How will I know who gave donations? You can call our home office and ask for a statement which will give a detailed record of donors. What if I do not raise enough funds? You can pay the balance as a Loan to SCORE and we will reimburse you if we receive more funds, or, we will hold your funds for one year and you can travel on a trip the following year. (Please see our Policy and Procedures Manual for more information on the Loan process.) Can I use the excess funds in my account for spending money? No. Due to IRS guidelines, we are not permitted to issue tax deductible donations for personal use. You can be reimbursed if you incur expense for travel to and from the departure point. Does SCORE accept credit cards? Yes, we can accept VISA or MasterCard. Do I need shots? We do not minister in remote areas, so shots are rarely needed. However, check with your local Health Department and follow their guidelines. Make sure you are up to date on your normal vaccines. Is insurance included? A supplemental Medical/Accident insurance is included in the cost of your trip. What is included in the cost of the trip? All international trips for individuals include insurance, lodging, meals and ground transportation. How do I raise money for my trip? The most effective way to raise funds for your trip is to mail out donation letters to family, friends, church members, doctors, dentists, teachers, etc. You can also have car washes, bake sales, babysitting, etc. to raise your funds. Be sure to let your church know what your needs are.
DOMESTIC TRIP F.A.Q s What is included in the cost? Lodging Field Staff Meals Breakfast is served each morning. To-Go lunches are provided Monday Thursday. No evening meals are provided, except in Appalachia. Group Interaction Large group meetings include orientation, and two additional worship and devotion sessions. Ministry Set-up Our office staff works with you to assess your group s ability and ministry goals to match you with a mission project or multiple projects. What is NOT included in the cost? Transportation to and from, and local Group insurance Ministry materials for project (VBS Curriculum, Construction Materials, Tools, etc) What size group can participate? Any size mission team may participate! We have groups from 10 people up to 250 people. Our average group size is 20 people. Some ministry sites may have group size limitations. Will our group be split up? Your mission team will serve together on a mission project. Groups are not mixed together for work projects. Larger groups may split into smaller teams to work on multiple projects. Do you have staff on site? All regularly scheduled mission trips will have onsite SCORE Staff to oversee the general workings of the week. Duties of the SCORE Staff include visiting the mission sites, leading worship meetings, ministering to the groups, and assisting you with any problems that may arise. Each group is assigned to work with a ministry contact at each work location. Do you worship services during the week? Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings we have large group worship and sharing time. Groups are encouraged to have their own devotion/ quiet time each morning. Who do you partner with? Local churches Church Planters Homeless Shelters Outreach ministries Baptist Associations Local Housing Agencies Salvation Army Relief Ministries
