9 Le Conseil Régional, Languedoc-Rousillon, France Le Conseil Régional (regional council) of Languedoc- Roussillon include 5 departements and has a population of 2,600,000 inhabitants. Its mains goals are: Local economic development, regional development, education, transport In terms of education, the CR is responsible for 87 lycées (secondary schools teaching students aged for the baccalaureat). > Education

10 Project Scope The Conseil Régional Languedoc-Rousillon is a leading administration in deploying leading edge IT into schools under it s responsibilities. Since 2005, it has been installing wired network in all the lycées (secondary schools). As part of its IT equipment policy, Languedoc-Roussillon announced that for all the new students entering it s lycées in September 2011, the Conseil Régional planned to provide to 32,000 students with a notebook for free in order to offer them a digital schoolbag So this created a need to offer wireless connection for all students using their notebooks to limit the need for wired connections. 11 Project Requirement The requirements were to propose a wireless solution that : Integrates easily into the current LAN network Only authorises access to the Internet to students through a VLAN independent of the existing LAN Offering the highest wireless performance Create an open wireless network for the moment but capable of adding a captive portal later on

12 Project Management The Conseil Régional contacted D-Link since we were already a supplier of LAN equipment to them and asked to provide an assessment on their Wifi requirements and a recommend an appropriate solution. The recommendation was to conduct a 2 site pilot for a period of 2-month to create a real world test. 2 x DWS x DWL-8600AP + 6 x DGS P was installed by our system integration partner INEO. Local D-Link PM team supported INEO by holding a 3 days of technical trainings to ensure their teams were ready for the deployment. This included a customised product installation guide to ensure success. Pilot tests was successful and approved beginning of January Go ahead for main deployment was started in July and completed by the end of August 2012over the new students in September. 28 Hesselby Slott Castle, Sweden 17th century castle owned and inhabited by the Bonde family until Now owned by two musicians, who provides conference facilities at the castle, with the capacity to host 150 people in 12 meeting rooms across six different buildings. Requirement: State of the Art wireless network covering all rooms in all buildings with the ability for the guests to move between rooms and buildings without losing their internet connection. Solution: network was divided into two: an internal network and an external guest network for conference guests. The solution achieved the goal of total wireless coverage by locating some APs strategically in the castle buildings, in areas such as the two towers in the wings, supplementing them with external antennas.
