3 What is IPRC? IPRC stands for Integrated Polytechnic Regional Center. Mission To provide Technical and vocational training at all levels in order to empower students and enhance their opportunities for career advancement and success in a global economy. Vision IPRC kigali Kicukiro Campus aspires to be a leading world class institution in the provision of producing graduates capable of developing and implementing creative technical solutions to social and industrial needs of Rwanda, the region and International society.

4 What is IPRC? Cont d It has three integrated components: Vocational training duration 6months/ 12 months TSS Technical Secondary School 3 years Ordinary diploma 2 years. Advanced diploma 3 years.

7 Why BMET is needed in RWANDA? In Rwanda we have : Around 31 professional s Biomedical technicians at diploma level graduated from IPRC-kigali. A small number of biomedical engineers with bachelor degree; less than 5 : From outside the country. A small number; less 10 people graduated from abroad with masters degree in biomedical engineering.

8 What is being done? December 2012, first seventeen Biomedical Technicians graduated with diploma in Biomedical Equipment Technology and have now returned to work in MoH hospitals in Rwanda

9 2013 Second time in the history of Rwanda: graduates in the BMET profession are graduated again and Diplomas are accredited in Rwanda and conferred by IPRC-Kigali. What is being done? Cont d

10 BMET current status Currently we have: Fulltime students for advanced diploma. Part-time students in the evening program for advanced diploma. MoH technician for a diploma.
