Empty considerations Empty is indicated by a preset engine pressure senor Can vary widely by engine Will trigger quicker with transient loading Generally still has reasonable time at full power Generally can still go further at reduced load The complexity of the system between the fuel tanks and the engine is the key consideration Ambient temperature is a factor No vehicle operating scenario is average but: Today s lower limits are psi tank pressure before the engine light is triggered (5-10% fuel remain in the tanks) Tomorrow those numbers will be cut in half. 13
