Natural Gas Vehicle Fueling A Readers Digest Brief: LNG, CNG and your Fleet February 28, 2014

Overview Why Choose Natural Gas? Difference Between These Natural Gas-based Fuels Choosing Wisely: LNG or CNG? How It Works: LNG stations and CNG stations General Station Design Considerations UGIES Natural Gas Fueling Offering all in 10 minutes!!!! 2

Why Choose Natural Gas? Natural gas is an inherently clean fuel Natural gas is mostly methane with one carbon atom (CH 4 ) Less NOx, PM (soot) and greenhouse gases than these petroleum fuels Diesel: C 14 H 30 Gasoline:C 8 H 18 Propane: C 3 H 8 Natural gas is very safe Lighter than air dissipates when released High ignition temperature: Deg F Limited range of air/fuel combustion ratio (5-15%) Colorless, odorless, non-toxic substance Doesn t leak into groundwater 3

Why Choose A Natural Gas Vehicle? NGV life-cycle costs are lower Fuel costs are lower and need to be! -- Savings need to compensate for incremental cost of vehicle and fueling infrastructure Maintenance costs are typically lower than gasoline or diesel engines Life-cycle cost advantage improves with tax credits, grants NGVs based on proven technology and reliable ~12+ million NGVs in use worldwide K+ operating on US roads Fleets are best target applications based on fuel use -- High fuel use with central fueling operation Consumer market represents tremendous opportunity if sufficient infrastructure is developed NGVs are quiet HD NGVs are 80-90% lower db level than comparable diesel 4

Why Choose Natural Gas Today? $5.00 U.S. Average Retail Fuel Prices $4.50 $4.00 $3.50 Cost per GGE $3.00 $2.50 $2.00 $1.50 $1.00 $0.50 Propane Diesel Gasoline CNG $0.00 5

Why Choose Natural Gas Tomorrow? 6

Difference Between Natural Gas Fuels Liquefied Natural Gas Cryogenic State: Very low temperature Results in highest concentration of energy (600:1) Gas delivered to site by 10,000 gallon tanker truck in a liquid state Stored on board vehicles in double-wall insulated saddle tanks -- Similar to a thermos ±100 PSI. Compressed Natural Gas Compressed and stored ~4,500 ambient temperature Distributed vehicle CNG 3,600 PSI resulting in concentration of energy of ~280:1 Gas delivered to fueling stations via local gas utility or other pipeline 7

Choose Wisely Matching Fuel to the Application Taxi Shuttles CNG Box Trucks Refuse Construction Long Haul Local Trucking Delivery Regional Trucking Mining Industry Marine E&P Rail LNG 8

Natural Gas Powertrains for Vehicles - Choices In addition to off-the-shelf NGVs increasingly offered by truck manufacturers Choice of engines to meet needs of various applications 9

LNG Fuel Station How it Works 10

LNG Station Example Fleet & Public 11

UGI Liquefied Natural Gas Facilities Through its subsidiary UGI LNG, Inc., UGIES owns and operates the Temple LNG facility near Reading, PA. Storage Capacity: 1.25 Bcf equivalent; 15 million gallons LNG Natural Gas Deliverability: 205,200 Dth/day Liquefaction: Nominal 6,000 Dth/day expander plant Receives natural gas via Texas Eastern Pipeline Regulated by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Owned and operated by UGI LNG, Inc. 100% of the capacity is contracted by UGI Energy Services 12

UGI Liquefied Natural Gas Facilities Temple LNG Complex Temple II Operating since 2012 Temple I Operating since early 1970 s 13

UGIES LNG Trailer Loading 14

Mobile Fueling Solution 15

CNG - Time Fill Fueling Station CNG is dispensed slowly directly to vehicles onboard storage tanks. Lower cost CNG station investment (lack of buffer storage). Best for fleets that return to central lot and sit idle overnight or for extended periods and do not need fast fill capability. 16

CNG - Fast Fill Fueling Station Similar to Time-Fill design plus cascade storage to facilitate rapid fill of several vehicles within a short period of time. Higher capital investment. GOAL: match fill rates and times as at liquid fueling station. A MUST for public access and large fleets requiring short fueling turn-around time. 17

CNG - Combination Fill Fueling Station A hybrid system combining both time-fill and fast-fill design. Highest cost design due to fueling flexibility. Often good for fleets that can fuel on time-fill but need occasional top off or want/need ability to provide public access 18

CNG Fast Fill Stations - Retail 19

CNG Time Fill Station - Private 20

Station Design Considerations Primary How many vehicles are to be filled? How much fuel does each vehicle require? What are the current fueling patterns? What are the anticipated maximum daily & hourly fuel requirements? Are there any peak demand periods? Secondary Is a quick fill, time fill or combination station being considered? Is a third-party fuel station available being considered? Are fuel metering and/or billing capability required? Are there any site limitation (i.e., space, zoning)? Are suitable gas and electric services available at the site? What are the nominal pressure and voltage for those services? 21

UGIES Natural Gas Fueling Offering Supply Fuel -- LNG primary source is Temple plant -- CNG based on local pipeline system Facility Funding -- UGIES provide funding to creditworthy counterparties -- UGIES recoup investment via capital recovery fee (baked into fuel price) -- Stationary fuel station or Mobile Fueler Customer-Fleet Focus (Primarily or Exclusively Private Fueling) Facility Engineering and Construction Management (permanent station) Pricing -- Based on relevant natural gas price plus facility charges -- Price Predictability: natural gas price hedging Term: Adequate to recoup capital investment (if UGIES providing capital) NOTE: Most favorable economics associated with sizeable fuel usage -- ONE TRUCK WILL NOT DO!! 22

UGIES Contacts Matt Dutzman Vice President, Business Development (610) Louis James Director, Business Development (610) Marco Calderon Manager, Business Development (610)
