Technology Overview This document is written to explain the different software licenses available on the Mitel 3300 IP Communications Platform (ICP), and when and where they are used. It explains which licenses are used in which scenarios and also what the different core software packages include. As well, it answers which licenses are used with the various off-board applications. The first section of this document will discuss the top-level philosophy of 3300 ICP licensing and the subsequent sections will delve into the detail. All software licensing on the 3300 ICP is managed via Mitel s Application Management Center (AMC). This document does not detail the workings of the AMC and the reader is assumed to have a basic understanding of the AMC ICP License Philosophy The software licenses available within the 3300 ICP product can be separated into three distinct categories: Core software packages Licenses based on individual usage System wide licenses Of these three categories, every 3300 ICP system must have a core software package before it can be enabled in any manner. The core software package is the initial license that enables the Application Record on the AMC and includes other system wide or individual licenses depending on the software package used. Core Software Packages Every 3300 ICP system requires a core software package. Below are the available packages for the 3300 ICP as of November 1, Included in the table are the software package part numbers, description and which additional licenses are included. For detailed descriptions on the content enabled within the core software packages, please see the relevant sections later in this document. The specific device limitations noted in each core software package include any combination of IP device, SIP user and ONS licenses IP COMMUNICATIONS PLATFORM 1

The differences between these two groups are the licenses included within the relevant package. The second main difference between the packages is the number of devices that each package supports. It is important that this limit is understood. Core Software Package Device Limits Each software package has a device limit associated with it. This limit means that no more than 64, 200, 500 or 1,400 devices can be attached or programmed to the specific system at any one time when the relevant software package is being used. An example of this in real terms is the Integrated s/w pkg 64 devices. This package cannot have more than 64 ONS / IP device and / or SIP user licenses attached or programmed to the Application Record at anyone time. For instance, if the customer has 50 IP phones programmed on the 3300 ICP, then they can only add a maximum of 14 more devices to the system, irrespective of the type of device. If the customer wishes to add 20 more devices to the system, then they need to upgrade the core software package to the 200-device limit package first IP COMMUNICATIONS PLATFORM

Technology Primer Device Limits and N+1 Resiliency The device limits stated in each software package include all programmed devices on the 3300 ICP (including active and inactive devices), so in a scenario where a customer wants to use the 3300 ICP s N+1 resiliency solution, a larger software package may be required than the specific hardware platform can actually support. In the example shown below, we have three 3300 ICP MXe Standard Controllers, each running 200 IP phones. This means they are all equipped with a 200 device integrated software package. The resilient back-up controller is also a MXe Standard Controller and will not have more than 200 devices connected to it at any one time, as it is assumed only one controller would ever fail at any one time. However, the back-up controller does need to have all 600 devices programmed as inactive devices, meaning the back-up controller requires a 1,400 device integrated software package MXe Controller Back-up 3300 MXe Controller A 3300 MXe Controller B 3300 MXe Controller C IP Phones (200) IP Phones (200) IP Phones (200) Router Software Package Upgrades The reason for having different types of software packages (Integrated and Gateway) and different sizes (64, 200, 500 and 1,400), are to allow us to price the different packages specifically for the market segment that the product is being aimed at. To only have one software package would inevitably price us out of certain markets so the intention for our core software packages is to ensure we are competitive in all our chosen areas IP COMMUNICATIONS PLATFORM 3

For customers who have a system installed, they are limited to the number of devices specified in the core software package. The customer can upgrade their device limit by adding the specific upgrade part number to the existing Application Record. A software package can only be upgraded to the next limit, i.e., 64 to 200 or 200 to 500. Integrated software packages can not be upgraded to Gateway packages, or vice versa. Part Number Description Upgd to 200 device intgd s/w pkg Upgd to 500 device intgd s/w pkg Upgd to 1,400 device intgd s/w pkg Upgd to 200 device gateway s/w pkg Upgd to 1,400 device gateway s/w pkg Hardware and Software Differences The 3300 ICP controller platforms all have specific capacity limitations. The limitations as of Release 7.1 are as follows: Platform (Standalone) Maximum Devices Maximum IP Devices Maximum TDM Devices DNIC Support CX(i) Controller (96 via ASU + 8 embedded) No MXe Standard configuration (via ASUs) or 350 (via Peripheral Cabinets), via a Peripheral Cabinet MXe Expanded configuration 1,500 1,400 1,152, via a Peripheral Cabinet AX No IP COMMUNICATIONS PLATFORM

It is important to notice that the hardware and software limitations are different and that these differences should be seen as strengths of flexibility rather than as a weakness. The divergence of the hardware and software limitations deliberately separates hardware and software components further, and has the benefit of allowing businesses to choose different hardware options without having to pay the excess software costs that they may not need. Alternatively, they can purchase additional software capacity without needing to purchase more hardware than is specifically required. 10 Individual Usage Licenses The Individual Usage Licenses on the 3300 ICP allow greater software densities to be added to a 3300 ICP. Network Link License A Network Link License is required for each E1 / T1 link to the 3300 ICP. An E1 / T1 link can be physically connected to the 3300 ICP in a number of ways: Via the Network Service Unit (NSU) (which supports 2 x E1 / T1 links per NSU) Via the Embedded E1 / T1 module (which support 1 or 2 E1 / T1 links per module) Via the traditional Mitel Digital Services Unit (DSU) (which can house up to four CEPT cards, with each CEPT card capable of supporting 2 x E1 / T1 30 links) When a redundant E1 / T1 link is used, an embedded E1 / T1 module is installed in two different controllers. When using this redundant drop back capability, a Network Link License is required on both controllers. An embedded BRI module can support up to four BRI connections, and no Network Link License is required to enable the embedded module. The BRI Network Service Unit (NSU) that is used in the Americas does not connect directly to the 3300 ICP controller. The BRI NSU connects to a Universal NSU. Although there is no specific BRI license, the Universal NSU requires a Network Link License because it connects to the BRI NSU using a 30-channel MSDN / DPNSS connection. SIP Trunking License SIP Trunking connects the 3300 ICP to other enterprise premise equipment, like application platforms, and carrier networks via an IP link rather than traditional analog and digital connections. For each concurrent SIP channel used, a SIP Trunking license on the 3300 ICP is required. So to mirror the capacity of an E1 / T1 link, the customer would purchase 30 / 24 SIP channels. Voice Mailbox License A voice mail license is required for each mail box. A voice mail box can be used as a: Standard extension voice mail An information only mail box A transfer only mail box IP COMMUNICATIONS PLATFORM

A message only mail box RAD mail box A menu node Guest Mail box only available when the system wide hospitality voice mail license is enabled Front of House mail box only available when the system wide hospitality voice mail license is enabled If a customer wishes to allow 200 users access to the embedded voice mail, 200 voice mail licenses need to be purchased. When using Multi-Level Auto Attendant, a voice mail license is required for each menu node within the attendant. A voice mail license will also be required if Auto Attendant transfers a call to a feature that requires a separate voice mailbox. For example, when pressing an option within Auto Attendant to transfer to an information only voice mail box, the information only voice mailbox will require a voice mail box license. If a customer wishes to utilize the resilient mailbox functionality, the voice mail licenses need to be purchased on both the primary and secondary controller. The dual mail boxes are managed independently by the user, and they are not automatically synchronized. ACD License Access to the ACD functionality on the 3300 ICP is controlled through the ACD License. Each IP device that needs to be capable of ACD type functionality (i.e., can have an ACD agent logged into it) requires an ACD license. All IP devices that are classified as ACD devices require a User, Device and ACD license on the system that the phone is registered against, when there is no agent logged in. These three licenses are the only licenses required when using ACD hot desking. If an agent visits a different location, but still wants to log on to their normal ACD groups, they simply find an IP set that has got the ability to be used as an ACD set and log in as normal. The set will then establish that the agent ID is registered to a different 3300 ICP controller and reconnect the agent with their home system IP COMMUNICATIONS PLATFORM 7

User and Device License To understand User and Device Licenses, it is important to start by distinguishing between the words device and user. A Device License is typically used when connecting a Mitel phone or soft phone that will control the voice connection to the 3300 ICP. A User License is typically used to create a user profile on the 3300 ICP. It should be noted that neither license is required for traditional telephone devices or SIP devices. User License A User License is required for each person who requires service on a Mitel IP phone, whether they are a desk-based user, a hot desk user, a wireless user, an operator or a Mitel Your Assistant Softphone user. The User License effectively provides the user with a profile on the 3300 ICP. An IP phone that is programmed to be a hot desk device does require a User License, as the phone can still be used as a normal device without anybody logged in, and therefore a standard profile needs to be created. The User License for a hot desk device is transacted for no charge when using Mitel Pricing tools. Device License A Device License is required for each physical IP device that is connected to the 3300 ICP. A Device License effectively provides the extension number for the device on the relevant controller and allows voice streaming to that device or soft phone. A Device License is therefore required for the following scenarios: A Mitel IP phone connected to its primary controller A resilient Mitel IP phone connected to its secondary controller A wireless IP device A hot desk device A Mitel 5550 IP Console Your Assistant Softphone Other soft phones using the MiNET protocol When an IP device has been designated as resilient, two device licenses are used. One Device License is required for the primary controller and one Device License for the secondary controller IP COMMUNICATIONS PLATFORM

ACD license on both primary and secondary controller No No No : per port ONS Line License Traditional analog phones that are connected to the ASU II or the AX controller require a single ONS Line License IP COMMUNICATIONS PLATFORM 9

Analog devices that are connected to the Analog Main Board, Analog Option Board, 24-port ASU, Universal ASU or Peripheral cabinet do not require an ONS Line License. SIP User License For every SIP device or SIP line side software agent connected to a 3300 ICP, a SIP User License is required. SIP devices do not require a standard user or device license. However, each SIP User License reduces the number of subsequent user and device licenses available on the 3300 ICP by one. System Wide Licenses Unlike individual usage licenses, System Wide Licenses are either turned on or turned off. The capacity of each option is not limited by the number of licenses enabled on the system, but only whether it is allowed or not. IP Networking IP Networking allows multiple 3300 ICPs to connect together over a data network. A 3300 ICP IP Networking license is either on or off, and would need to be enabled on at least two 3300 ICP controllers to have any effect. An IP Networking license is required on each 3300 ICP that will join into a single network, and a Mitel solution can connect a maximum of 250 x 3300 ICP systems together. Tenanting The Tenanting software option allows a system to be partitioned among a number of tenants, and to be configured to look like a separate system to each tenant. Up to 64 small businesses, or departments of a larger business, can share features and capabilities of the system. Consoles, CO trunks, and dial-in trunks can be allocated individually to each tenant, or shared between tenants. Switching to night service can be done centrally, or on a tenant-to-tenant basis. Calls through the system can be blocked, so tenants can only call each other on CO trunks. XNET XNET allows private networking (DPNSS) functionality to be supported across the public network via a PRI link if supported by the service provider. The license is either on or off for any particular 3300 ICP controller. The license would need to be enabled on at least two 3300 ICP controllers to have any effect. When using IP COMMUNICATIONS PLATFORM

XNET in a hybrid deployment, i.e., the signalling is transmitted across the data network while the voice traffic is transmitted across the public network, IP Networking needs to be turned on for all of the relevant 3300 ICP controllers. Voice Mail There are three system wide voice mail licenses. When any of these licenses are enabled, the functionality within the license becomes available to all users of the voice mail. Advanced Voice Mail this license will enable call recording, unified messaging and personal contacts on the voice mail system Hospitality Voice Mail this license will enable the voice mail to connect the voice mail to a Property Management System Voice Mail Networking this license allows users to send and receive messages between all voice mail servers on the network Compression Compression licenses are required when compressing telephony calls that originate or end at traditional TDM points, for instance, analog phones or PRI lines. By installing a compression DSP module and a compression license, the 3300 ICP will compress a call across an IP network to a compatible IP device or another 3300 ICP controller (the second 3300 controller must also have a compression DSP module and license enabled). The compression of the call then occurs at G729 between the 3300 controller and either the IP device or secondary 3300 controller, depending on whether the end device is capable of supporting compression. Compression licenses are available in packs of eight channels. This means that with eight channels enabled on the 3300 ICP controller, eight simultaneous calls at any one time can be compressed. The compression licenses and modules help compress calls when one or both ends of the call are traditional telephony parts. Calls that have Mitel IP phones at both ends, and that support compression, do not require compression licenses or modules. Application Connectivity When connecting various applications to the 3300 ICP, on occasion licenses are required on the 3300 ICP to enable the application to work. This section gives a short overview of which 3300 ICP licenses are required for which applications. Further details will be available within the relevant Product Bulletins and information on Mitel OnLine IP COMMUNICATIONS PLATFORM 11

Live Business Gateway The Mitel Live Business Gateway is licensed on the number of Microsoft Office Communicator 2005 clients that want to control a Mitel phone. No additional licenses are required on the 3300 ICP. PC to Phone When using Communicator 2005 as a standalone soft phone, calls between Communicator 2005 clients are sent directly between the clients using SIP across the data network. When the Communicator 2005 clients need to call either externally across the PSTN, or to other traditional telephones, there needs to be a translation between SIP and traditional telephony protocols. The 3300 ICP connects to the Microsoft Office Live Communications Server 2005 via SIP Trunks, and allows the Communicator 2005 clients to call traditional phones, and also receive calls from external devices. The number of SIP channels between the 3300 ICP and the Live Communications Server 2005 depends on the number of simultaneous calls the customer wants to be able to support. For instance, if 500 Communicator 2005 clients are being used, and the customer wants to be able to support 100 simultaneous calls between those clients and non-communicator end points, then 100 SIP Trunks need to be licensed and programmed between the 3300 ICP and the Live Communications Server Mitel Mobile Extension The Mitel Mobile Extension application requires additional device and user licenses for the 3300 ICP. These additional licenses are required for: The pool of outgoing lines, used to dial out to the mobile devices For Telephone User Interface ports, used primarily to activate / de-activate the service or to change the twinned device number For the virtual extensions that are used to monitor the Mobile Extension user s desktop devices A suitable number of device and user licenses are bundled with the Mobile Extension user licenses. The number of licenses bundled with the Mobile Extension user licenses is based on the recommendations stated in the Mobile Extension Engineering guidelines. These figures assume average traffic patterns, based on an average of five calls per hour with an average duration of three minutes. Higher traffic sites may require more outgoing lines, and if this is the case, then the subsequent number of device and user licenses can be ordered in the normal way IP COMMUNICATIONS PLATFORM

Mitel Your Assistant When using Your Assistant in the desk phone mode, there are no further 3300 ICP licenses required. When using Your Assistant in Softphone mode, as well as the relevant Your Assistant licenses, a user and device license is required on the 3300 ICP. Mitel Teleworker Solution When Mitel IP phones are connected to the Mitel Teleworker Solution server, the phones appear to the 3300 ICP as a standard IP phone. This means they use a user and device license on the 3300 ICP controller and these licenses are ordered separately from the Teleworker Solution licenses. Mitel Quick Conference Mitel Quick Conference connects to the 3300 ICP via SIP Trunk channels. This means that an equivalent number of SIP Trunk licenses are required for the number of Quick Conference channels that are required. The 3300 ICP SIP Trunk licenses are included with the Quick Conference licenses when the system is ordered, and therefore do not need to be configured separately. Mitel Customer Interaction Solutions The majority of licenses used within the Mitel Customer Interaction Solutions are managed by the actual applications, and not the 3300 ICP. As this document is focused on the 3300 ICP licenses, this section will only highlight the 3300 ICP licenses that are used ICP ACD Licenses Access to the ACD functionality on the 3300 ICP is controlled through the ACD license. Each IP device that needs to be capable of ACD type functionality (i.e., can have an ACD agent logged into it) requires an ACD license. Therefore, all IP devices that are classified as ACD devices require a user, device and ACD license on the system that the phone is registered against when there is no agent logged in. These three licenses are the only licenses required when using ACD hot desking. If an agent visits a different location, but still wants to log on to their normal ACD groups, they simply find an IP phone that has the ability to be used as an ACD set, and log in as normal. The set will then establish that the agent ID is registered to a different 3300 ICP, and attempt to connect the agent to their home system IP COMMUNICATIONS PLATFORM 13

Resilient ACD Devices To make an ACD device resilient, as well as the user, device and ACD licenses on the primary controller, further licenses are required on the secondary 3300 ICP controller. The licenses required on the secondary controller are a device license and an ACD license. Therefore, a resilient ACD device uses 2 x device licenses, 2 x ACD licenses and 1 x user license. When configuring and ordering resilient ACD devices, there is a specific ACD resilient license. This license simply adds a standard ACD license onto the secondary controller. Mitel Intelligent Queue The Mitel Intelligent Queue application connects to the 3300 ICP on a per port basis. For each Intelligent Queue port that is required, the same number of device and user licenses are also required. Mitel ACD PhoneSet Manager and Softphone Mitel ACD PhoneSet Manager takes control of and utilizes the voice path of a Mitel IP phone. It therefore does not require any specific 3300 ICP licenses to work. As the Mitel ACD Softphone application manages all the voice traffic, instead of using a Mitel IP phone, then each soft phone client requires a device and user license. Mitel NuPoint Messenger Mitel NuPoint Messenger connects to the 3300 ICP via IP ports that each require a user and device license. This means that an equivalent number of user and device licenses are required for the number of NuPoint Messenger ports that are required. Mitel Speech Server Mitel Speech Server connects to the 3300 ICP via IP ports that each require a user and device license. This means that an equivalent number of user and device licenses are required for the number of Speech Server ports that are required. Mitel Messaging Server The Mitel Messaging Server connects to the 3300 ICP via IP ports that each require a user and device license. This means that an equivalent number of user and device licenses are required for the number of Messaging Server ports that are required. Mitel Pricing Tool This document outlines the licenses that are specified within the 3300 ICP. It should be noted however, that the Mitel Pricing Tool (MPT) uses different terminology when a sales executive is configuring a solution. The difference can be explained by the desire to make the pricing tool as simple and IP COMMUNICATIONS PLATFORM

straightforward to use as possible. When using MPT, the sales executive is asked to specify the number of users / devices each 3300 ICP controller will manage. An example of the simplified questions are as follows: What are the number of: Desktop / Wireless users IP phone licenses? Hot desk devices? Hot desk users? Resilient users? These four questions all relate back to the device and user licenses, and ensure the correct number of licenses are ordered for any solution. The four questions above do not relate to new licenses on the 3300 ICP, but are there to simplify the configuration process. Implementation Scenarios To further clarify the licenses required for a 3300 ICP solution, please see the following two scenarios. Scenario One A customer has a single office with the following set-up: 2 x 3300 ICP controllers both using a 500 device integrated core software package the systems are networked together 400 x Resilient 5224 IP Phones split evenly across the two 3300 ICP controllers 20 x Hot desk devices on controller A 50 x Hot desk users on controller A 500 x Voice mail boxes on controller B 30 x SIP Trunk channels on controller A 1 x redundant E1 / T1 link 10 x Teleworker Solution phones in addition to the 400 phones in the office on controller A 10 x Mobile Extension users average traffic on controller A 40 x Your Assistant desktop users on controller B 20 x Your Assistant Softphone users on controller B 50 x ACD agents 30 will use a 5224 IP Phone and 20 will use an ACD Softphone all on controller B 12 x Quick Conference channels on controller A 3300 IP COMMUNICATIONS PLATFORM 15

Contact Center applications with: 20 x ACD Softphone on controller B 10 x port Intelligent Queue server on controller B Live Communications Server 2005 with 50 x PC to Phone Communicator 2005 software agents with a requirement for 15 simultaneous calls on controller A The total number of 3300 ICP licenses required on each controller is as follows: License type IP Networking Device license User license ACD licenses SIP Trunk licenses Voice mailbox licenses Network link license Number of licenses Information IP Networking for both controllers 445 on controller A, 400 for resilient desk phones, 10 for Teleworker Solution sets, 20 for hot desk devices 15 for Mobile Extension 450 on controller B, 400 for resilient desk phones, 20 for ACD Softphone 20 for Your Assistant Softphone, 10 for IQ 295 for controller A, 200 for desk phones 20 for hot desk devices, 50 for hot desk users, 10 for Teleworker Solution phones 15 for Mobile Extension 250 for controller B, 200 for desk phones 20 for Your Assistant Softphone 20 for ACD Softphone and 10 for IQ All on controller B, 20 will be used with ACD Softphone and 30 will be used on desktop sets All on controller A, 30 for SIP Trunk connection 12 for Quick Conference 15 for connectivity to LCS for PC to phone calls 500 voice mail licenses on controller B for the relevant users 1 each for controllers A and B to support the redundant link IP COMMUNICATIONS PLATFORM

The licenses noted above are the licenses that will need to be enabled on the 3300 ICP controllers. The licenses ordered using MPT are different for the following reasons: MPT uses questions about the type of usage to automatically create the correct number of licenses. For instance, 400 resilient desktop phones will order 400 user license and 800 device licenses In many examples, marketing packages are created that hide the underlying license until it is enabled by the AMC. For instance, ordering a Mobile Extension application will place the user and device licenses into the AMC, but they will not be seen as part of the order The core software packages contain a certain number of licenses. For instance, when the customer orders 500 voice mail boxes, the resulting MPT configuration will only order 492 because eight licenses are included in the core package Scenario Two A customer has a multi-site solution. The head office has the following configuration: 1 x 3300 ICP controller using the 200 device integrated core software package 100 x 5340 IP Phones 100 x voice mail boxes 15 x ONS phones 1 x E1 / T1 link 100 x Your Assistant desktop IP Networking to the branch office Mitel Live Business Gateway supporting Microsoft Communicator 2005 management of desktop phones The branch office has the following configuration: 1 x 3300 ICP controller using the 64 device Gateway Core software package 20 x 5224 IP phones 20 x Hot desk devices 100 x Hot desk users 20 x Voice mail boxes IP Networking to the head office 3300 IP COMMUNICATIONS PLATFORM 17

The total number of 3300 ICP licenses required on each controller is as follows: License type IP Networking Device license User license ONS license Voice mail box license Network link license Number of licenses Information Required for the head office 100 for the head office 40 for the branch office 100 for the head office 140 for the branch office 11 for head office (4 are connected to the AMB card which does not need a ONS license) 100 for the head office 20 for the branch office For the head office The licenses noted above are the licenses that will need to be enabled on the 3300 ICP controllers. The licenses ordered using MPT are different for the following reasons: MPT uses questions about the type of usage to automatically create the correct number of licenses. For instance, 20 hot desk devices and 100 hot desk users at the branch office will enable 120 user licenses and 20 device licenses for the branch office The core software packages contain a certain number of licenses. For instance, when the customer orders 100 voice mailboxes for the head office, the resulting MPT configuration will only order 92 licenses because eight licenses are included in the core package that is used at the head office. Equally, only one IP Networking option will be ordered, as the branch office core software package already includes IP Networking IP COMMUNICATIONS PLATFORM
