1 2016 Annual FOMA Convention FULL Alpha Speaker Biographies Revised 2/16/16 Asfa Akhtar, DO, FAOCD, graduated from Nova Southeastern University College of Medicine (NSU-COM), completed residency with Broward General Medical Center. Dr. Akhtar is board certified in Dermatology and Family Medicine, and has been involved with the Broward County Dermatologic Society. Currently, Dr. Akhtar is a staff dermatologist in the Department of Dermatology with the Cleveland Clinic Florida in Weston. She is a clinical associate professor in the Department of Internal Medicine and Dermatology with NSU in Davie, Florida. She speaks English, Hindi, and Urdu and spends time teaching residents about plastic surgery training. Patrick E. Barry, DO, received his DO from the Kansas City University of Medicine & Biosciences (KCUMB). He completed his rotating internship at Larkin Community Hospital in South Miami. Dr. Barry is currently completing an Integrated Family Medicine/Neuromusculosketal Program at Larkin Community Hospital. In his free time, Dr. Barry enjoys participating in fitness and nutritional education. He combines his passion for medicine and fitness by serving as a ringside physician for Xtreme Fighter Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) matches. Ronald Burns, DO, FACOFP, graduated from Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens, Ohio. Following the completion of his degree, he was an intern at Doctors Hospital of Stark County in Massillon, Ohio and completed residency at Florida Hospital East Orlando. Dr. Burns holds a license in both Florida and Ohio and is Board Certified in Family Practice. He served the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association (FOMA) as president from and trustee of the FOMA, district society three. He has received the FOMA Physician of the Year award and the Distinguished Service award. He served on the Governor Bush Health Information Infrastructure Board, the Florida Medicaid Formulary Study Panel and the Pharmaceutical & Therapeutics Committee. With the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) he serves as a trustee, delegate to the AOA House of Delegates and was appointed by the AOA President to serve on various AOA Committees including chair of the Bureau of Osteopathic Clinical Education and Research and Department of Educational Affairs. He is also the co-chairman of the FOMA Committee on Continuing Medical Education and serves on the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners (NBOME) John P. Cunha, DO, is a U.S. board-certified Emergency Medicine Physician. Dr. Cunha's educational background includes a B.S. in Biology from Rutgers University in New Jersey, and a DO from the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences in Kansas City, MO. He completed residency training in Emergency Medicine at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in Newark, NJ. Dr. Cunha is an attending physician in the Emergency Department of Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale and the medical director of the Emergency Medical Services for the City of Oakland Park. With an interest in medical education, Dr. Cunha has participated in a medical mission to Ecuador and works as a mentor to medical students through the American Osteopathic Association (AOA). His special interests in medicine include patient education and satisfaction and sports medicine. Linda Delo, DO, earned her DO from Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine (NSU-COM). She completed her internship and post doctorate training at Humana Hospital Palm Beaches. Dr. Delo is with Delo Medical Associates, a multi-disciplinary osteopathic family practice offering: osteopathic treatments, physical therapy, laboratory, ultrasound, audiometry, bone density testing, allergy testing and treatment, smoking cessation programs, and healthy diet and weight loss programs. The practice recently achieved National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) Level 3 Patient-Centered Medical Home Accreditation (PCMA). She is active in the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association (FOMA) committees and the FOMA, district society nine, and various state-wide committees. Joshua J. Fischer, DO, a graduate of Touro University California completed his traditional rotating internship at Franciscan St. James in Olympia Fields, Illinois. Currently, Dr. Fischer is in the Integrated Family Medicine and Neuromuscular Medicine residency at Larkin Community Hospital in South Miami. Dr. Fischer has presented on various musculoskeletal topics at Larkin Hospital and with the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association (FOMA) statewide.
2 Stanley E. Grogg, DO, FACOP, FAAP, earned his DO from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Grogg completed a rotating internship at Still Hospital in Jefferson City, Missouri, and his pediatric residency at Oklahoma State University Medical. He was certified in pediatrics by the American Osteopathic Board of Pediatrics in 1978, and was awarded a Travel Medicine Certificate by the International Society of Travel Medicine (ISTM) in He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Osteopathic Pediatricians. Dr. Grogg is a tenured professor of Pediatrics, interim dean/president of Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences in Tulsa and he the primary investigator for several clinical research studies. He was the Oklahoma Osteopathic Association's Physician of the Year in 2006 and the 2008 Pediatrician of the Year by the American College of Osteopathic Pediatricians. Anna Hayden, DO, is a graduate of the University of Health Sciences in Kansas City, Missouri. She completed her internship at Humana Hospital Palm Beaches and her residency at Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine (NOVA-COM). She is board certified by Family Practice and is credentialed by the American Academy of HIV Medicine as an HIV specialist. Dr. Hayden was appointed to the Board of Osteopathic Medicine in 2010, and currently serves as chair. She is a former president of the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association (FOMA), served as a trustee for the FOMA, district society six and as a delegate to the American Osteopathic Association (AOA). In 1996, she was the first-female president of the Broward County Osteopathic Medical Association and remains active on their Board of Governors. She is the current chair of the Florida Medicaid Drug Utilization Review and Physician Prescribing Review Panel boards and involved in community health centers and Broward General Medical Center s Quality Care Committee. Dr. Hayden has been caring for the community of downtown Ft. Lauderdale for more than 20 years at Broward Health Specialty Care Center. Carol Henwood, DO, FACOFP, Dist., is a board-certified family physician. She is a physician at Family Medicine in Royersford Main Line Health in Pennsylvania. Her practice has held a National Committee of Quality of Assurance (NCQA) Level 3 since She has served as Governor of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFP) Board of Directors, and has chaired and remains an active participant on the Board Task Force on Patient Centered Medical Home and Accountable Care Organizations. In addition, she is a former president of the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Family Physicians Society, has served on the American Osteopathic Association s (AOA) Council on Women s Health Issues and currently sits on the AOA Bureau of State and Government Affairs. Recently, Dr. Henwood participated with a delegation of osteopathic leaders, who were invited to the White House briefing on the Affordable Care Act hosted by the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and Senior Administration Officials. Leonard Hock, Jr., DO, is chief medical officer for Hospice by the Sea, in Broward and Palm Beach County. He takes pride in serving the Florida Medical Directors Association as a member and contributor to educational processes. He recently served as senior vice president of Medical Services for Covenant Hospice serving the panhandle of Florida and southern Alabama. Prior to that, Dr. Hock was in private internal medicine practice in Kansas City for more than 25 years. He is a Certified Medical Director (CMD) of long-term care facilities and has been a member of American Medical Directors Association (AMDA) since l996. Through this commitment, he was invited to become a member of the Missouri Best Practices Committee with the Division of Aging, this private provider and state group focused on improving the standard of care for the frail and elderly in long-term care facilities. In 2007, Dr. Hock s interest in hospice/palliative care resulted in development of a palliative case management model for acute care hospitals. This model was implemented in Research Medical Center in Kansas City in 2008, and has proven to be successful in decreasing the length of stay and acute care costs, while increasing the comfort measures for the end-of-life patient and support to family members. During his medical career in Kansas City, Dr. Hock was the health care reporter for the FOX 4 Television News and seen daily on Housecalls speaking on current and pertinent health topics.
3 Gregory James, DO, MPH, FACOFP, dist., is the senior medical director for OPTUMCare. This position has medical and quality oversight responsibility for Nursing Home Patients for United Healthcare Medicare Advantage Plans in the state of Florida. He has been the director of the Family Medicine Residency Program at St. Petersburg General Hospital, for five years, and the director of the Sun Coast Hospital Family Medicine Residency for eight. Dr. James received his Master in Public Health (MPH) in 1997, from Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine (NSU-COM). He served NSU-COM as their alumni president in 2007, and was voted the Alumnus of the Year in 2004 and a former president of the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association (FOMA). He has previously served the AOA on their Council on Post-Doctoral Training (COPT) and Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA). In 2006, he was voted Educator of the Year by the Florida Society of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFP); and in 2013, the Educator of the Year for the National ACOFP. Dr. James has been recognized for several years by the AOA as one of their Mentors of the Year. At Sun Coast Hospital, he received the Outstanding Clinical Instructor award three times and the Outstanding Lecturer award twice. Currently, he is a director and treasurer, for the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians (AOBFP), serves the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) and a Florida member of the annual House of Delegates and a Distinguished Fellow for the ACOFP. Dr. James is on the Board of Directors for the Florida Medical Directors Association (FMDA), a divisional society for the American Medical Directors Association (AMDA) and certified in Family Medicine and Geriatrics, by the AOBFP and in Long-Term Care for Nursing Facilities, by AMDA. Kenneth Johnson, DO, FAAO, received his medical degree at Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Ft. Lauderdale Florida. Dr. Johnson is currently Assistant Dean of Faculty Affairs and Professor and Chair of OB/GYN and Public Health at the College. He also serves as Director of the NSU-COM Women s Health Center at the Davie Campus. Dr. Johnson completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Columbus Medical Center a teaching affiliate of Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago. Dr. Johnson is board certified and in active practice at the University and is the former Chief of the Chris Evert Women s Hospital at the Broward General Medical Center. He is a former Captain in the United States Air Force, and has served on the Governor s task force on maternal death and Diabetes in Florida. Dr. Johnson has been principal investigator on numerous clinical research trials in women s health including studies on Hormone Replacement therapy, contraception, female sexual dysfunction, osteoporosis and urinary incontinence. He is currently Co-investigator on Project Choices and Project Healthy Choices, two studies funded by the Centers for Disease Control to reduce Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. Dr. Johnson was recently awarded the Charles C. Shepard award for his research and publication on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. Dr. Johnson has recently conducted clinical trials on female sexual dysfunction and osteoporosis. In 2014 Dr. Johnson was recognized as the NSU college of Osteopathic Medicine Professor of the Year. Dr. Johnson is a two time recipient of the coveted Golden Apple Award at NSU-COM. Marc Kaprow, DO, FACOI, received his DO from Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine (NSU- COM). During his time at NSU Dr. Kaprow completed pre-doctoral fellowships in both Anatomy and Osteopathic Practices and Principles. Dr. Kaprow completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital Medical Center, an affiliate training site of Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Kaprow was honored as the Resident of the Year, and served as Chief Resident during the training year. Dr. Kaprow is certified in Internal Medicine, Hospice and Palliative Medicine by the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Kaprow has served the South Broward Hospital District and Memorial Hospital West on multiple committees, including Utilization Review, Peer Review, Physician Credentialing, Ethics and the Medical Executive. In 2008, he was appointed medical director of Memorial Home Health Care, and in 2010, Dr. Kaprow transitioned his practice from patient care to administration as the associate medical director for Hospice & Palliative Care VITAS Healthcare in Broward County. In 2012, Dr. Kaprow joined UnitedHealthcare of Florida as a medical director. Currently, he oversees the Managed Medicaid Long-Term Care program that UnitedHealthcare provides in 58 counties across the state of Florida. Dr. Kaprow also serves as a director-at-large for the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association (FOMA), trustee and was a past president of the FOMA, district society six. Virginia (Ginger) Kelley is the manager of the Southeastern Region of the Risk Management of the NORCAL Group. Her healthcare experience spans more than 30 years, including pre-hospital emergency medicine, risk management, claims, underwriting and medical practice administration. Ginger received her bachelor s from the University of Virginia and her Master of Health Administration (MHA) from The Medical College of Virginia. She received her Associate in Risk Management (ARM), became certified by the American College of Medical Practice Executives (ACMPE/MGMA) and earned her Florida License in Healthcare Risk Management (LHRM). She is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) and was a Fellow of the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management (FASHRM). She holds a Florida 2-20 Property & Casualty agent license as well as licensure in Georgia. Kelley s practice administration experience offers her a unique perspective on physician office and medical clinic risks and exposures, including professional liability and a variety of patient safety and compliance challenges.
4 Sybil Knight, DO, a graduate from Tuoro College of Osteopathic Medicine. She is currently in her third year of residency at Larkin Community Hospital in a Combined Family Medicine/Neuromuscular Medicine program. Dr. Knight has a special interest in yoga and its ability to aid in the process of healing. Joshua Lenchus, DO, RPh, FACP, SFHM, holds a pharmacy degree from the University of Florida (UF), and graduated from Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine (NSU-COM). He currently works as a hospitalist at Jackson Memorial Hospital for the University Of Miami Miller School of Medicine. There he holds the rank of associate professor of Medicine and Anesthesiology and serves as an associate program director for the Internal Medicine Residency. He has extensive hospital administrative and committee involvement and, was elected the first osteopathic president of the Jackson Health System medical staff and chairman of its medical executive committee, in its then-94 year history. Aside from creating a crisis management simulation course, he developed a curriculum centered on simulationbased invasive bedside procedural instruction. Now, in its ninth year, the program has transformed the way procedures are taught and performed, decreasing complications leading to safer patient care. He has conducted numerous workshops at various conferences, garnered more than $2 million in grant funding and his team s work has been published in peer-reviewed journals. Outside the hospital, Dr. Lenchus serves as a leader, in multiple county, state and national medical associations, including the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association (FOMA), Florida Medical Association, the American College of Physicians, and the Society of Hospital Medicine. He has a passion for health and public policy. Charlene LePane, DO, FACOI, completed her Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science at Auburn University and completed her Master of Science in Public Health (MSPH) at the University of Alabama Birmingham, then attended medical school at the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences. She has authored and published several studies and case reports in Journal of the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons (JSLS), American Journal of Gastroenterology, Gastroenterology Research and Digestive Diseases and Sciences. Dr. LePane is an associate professor of Medicine at the University of Central Florida (UCF) School of Medicine, Nova Southeastern College of Osteopathic Medicine (NSU-COM) and Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM), where she routinely mentors medical students and residents. She served as president of the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association (FOMA), district society three and a trustee. She is a Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Internists, section chair and Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology, member of the Florida Gastroenterologic Society and a board question provider for the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine. Her professional interests include Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Celiac Disease and Advanced Endoscopy. In her personal time she enjoys marathon running. Jay Olsson, DO, completed his DO at Kansas City University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) Residency at Emory University Hospital. Dr. Olsson is a physiatrist in Melbourne and is affiliated with multiple hospitals in the area, including Holmes Regional Medical Center and Wuesthoff Medical Center. He has served on the Governor s Advisory Council for Standards for Head Injuries, Spinal Cord Injuries, and Rehabilitation since Dr. Olsson is Board Certified in PM&R and Pain Medicine and has served as a trustee for the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association (FOMA), district society16. Robert Pepper, DO, FAAFP, completed his undergraduate studies at the University of South Florida (USF), with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He obtained his DO, at Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine (NSU-COM). He completed his family medicine residency training at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. There, he was awarded the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine Resident Teacher award. He has been in practice for more than two decades, with roles including: a faculty appointment at University Alabama-Birmingham, attending physician in multiple emergency rooms and running a successful private practice in Clearwater. At Family Care at Bardmoor, he is assisting in the education of Family Medicine and osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) residents. In his personal time, he s an avid long-distance runner and has competed in more than twenty marathons and several ultramarathons. He finds particular enjoyment in helping to nurture those new to the sport.
5 Dennis H. Penzell, DO, MS, FACP, received his DO from the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Penzell is Board Certified and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. From 2006 to 2010, Dr. Penzell served as a consultant for the Nova Southeastern University (NSU) and University of South Florida (USF) Area Health Education Centers, the Florida Farmworkers Association, and the Florida Agency for Health Care. In September 2010, he started his dream career joining the Internal Medicine faculty of NSU College of Osteopathic Medicine (NSU-COM) as an associate professor of Medicine. He has Tobacco Treatment Specialist Certifications in New Jersey and Florida, and his special interests include treatment of the tobacco addiction, health care for the medically underserved and the effects of pesticides. Rachel Pevsner Crum, DO, is a graduate of Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine (NSU- COM). She completed her rotating internship at Wellington Regional Medical Center in Wellington and her Radiology Residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach. Dr. Crum completed her Pediatric Radiology Fellowship at Miami Children s Hospital in Miami and is now one of their staff Pediatric Radiologists. She is an American Board of Radiology (ABR) certified diagnostic radiologist and an ABR certified subspecialty pediatric radiologist. Dr. Crum has served as the chief nuclear medicine technician and director of operations for Nuclear Medicine Scanning, Inc. in West Palm Beach. She has participated in several Educational Poster & Exhibits and authored publications. Ronald Renuart, DO, FACP, earned his DO from Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine (NSU- COM) and completed his Internal Medicine Residency with the University of Florida (UF). He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and former chief of staff at Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville Beach. He has served on the Board of Trustees for the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association (FOMA), the Executive Board of the FOMA and a delegate to the American Osteopathic Association (AOA). As a colonel in the Florida Army National Guard he served three combat tours including Iraq and Afghanistan. He served for six years as the chief medical officer for the National Guard and retired after 20 years of decorated service. Dr. Renuart was appointed to the State Medicaid Pharmaceutical and Therapeutics Committee by Governor Jeb Bush in 2005 and elected to the Florida House of Representatives in He was the chairman of the Veterans and Military Affairs Committee, vice chair of the Health & Human Services Committee and the K through 12 Education Subcommittee. Representative Renuart authored landmark legislation pertaining to concussions in youth athletics, prostate cancer research, the Florida GI Bill, and the craft distillery industry. Joel Rose, DO, is currently a member of the Florida Board of Osteopathic Medicine. He practices injury and family medicine in Tampa. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of South Florida (USF) and received his DO from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine (WVSOM). He is board certified in family medicine by the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physician and former chief of staff in Town & Country Hospital. Governor Lawton Chiles appointed Dr. Rose to the Florida Board of Osteopathic Medicine, since then he was reappointed by Governor Charlie Christ in 2007 and Governor Rick Scott in Dr. Rose has received both the Hillsborough County Osteopathic Medical Association, the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association (FOMA) Physician of the Year awards and served as the president of the FOMA. He is a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Family Medicine at Nova Southeastern College of Osteopathic Medicine (NSU-COM) and adjunct clinical assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Bradenton. He is a Fellow in the Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB) and the American Association of Osteopathic Examiners (AAOE). Joseph Silvers, DO, is a graduate from University of Pikeville Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine (KYCOM). In 2015, Dr. Silvers completed a Family Practice Residency at Community Westview Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. He served as an Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine Teaching Fellow with KYCOM and has leadership experience as an Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM) Fellow. Dr. Silvers is a member of several professional associations and has extensive sports medicine experience.
6 Scott Spagnolo-Hye, DO, earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Chemistry and a Master s in Neuroscience Research. After graduating with his Master s, Dr. Spagnolo-Hye served as a faculty research associate at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York. This is where he realized his fondness for teaching and educating others in the field of science and medicine, earning his DO at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM). Dr. Spagnolo-Hye was the first resident to graduate from the Larkin Community Hospital s Integrated Family Practice and Neuromuscular Medicine program where he was a Chief Resident. In addition to neuromuscular medicine, he has completed an Osteopathic Fellowship in Addiction Medicine and has a keenness for treating patients who suffer from addictive disorders. Prior to joining the Institute for Non-Surgical Orthopedics, Dr. Spagnolo-Hye had his own office in central Florida treating those suffering from addiction and other associated conditions. Samuel Spanbauer, DO, is a Family Practice Specialist in Ft. Lauderdale. He attended and graduated with honors from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM), having over nine years of diverse experiences. He affiliates with many hospitals including Larkin Community Hospital. Joel D. Stein, DO, FAAO, FAOASM, graduated from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (KCOM). Dr. Stein completed his internship at Humana Hospital South Broward in Hollywood, Fla. and is board certified in Family Practice, Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine, and Sports Medicine. Dr. Stein is the medical director at the Institute for Non-Surgical Orthopedics and Center for Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment in Ft. Lauderdale and clinical associate professor at Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine (NSU-COM), professor emeritus at the University of Miami School of Medicine, visiting clinician for the AAO and serves on the AAO Bureau of Experts. David Stuckey, DO, graduated from Duke University with a degree in music, Dr. Stuckey became a certified massage therapist and started working in private practice. He participated in a medical mission to Peru giving medicine to indigenous people and later attended University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine (UNECOM). He is now a Family Medicine and Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine Resident at Larkin Community Hospital in Miami. Aubrey Taow, DO, attended Brigham Young University before studying at Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine in New York. She was the Chief Resident at Westchester General Hospital in Miami. Dr. Taow is involved in the religious community having completed many hours of service at the Church of Latter-Day Saints. Beginning in college and still today, Dr. Taow is involved in raising awareness for HIV/AIDS in Africa. Ronald Tolchin, DO, FAAPM&R, is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Spine Center in Baptist Hospital in Kendall. Dr. Tolchin graduated from Villanova University and continued his education at Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine (NSU-COM). Prior to his experience in the Baptist system, Dr. Tolchin worked in the Miami VA Healthcare System as chief of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and as deputy chief of staff. He is passionate about teaching and educating tomorrow s doctors. Dr. Tolchin is currently a voluntary clinical professor with the Florida International University (FIU) School of Medicine and is involved with NSU-COM. Also, he participated in a medical mission as a member of the Himalayan Health Exchange Team delivering free healthcare to India. Adrian Villarreal, DO, is a graduate of College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific - Western University of Health Sciences, Pomona, California. He has served as adjunct faculty for Michigan State University in Kalamazoo, Michigan and an independent contractor for ACME Physician Group in Hooper, Utah and Nuit Heath in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Currently, Dr. Villarreal is completing his Osteopathic Residency in Family Medicine/Neuromuscular Medicine at Larkin Community Hospital in South Miami.
7 Nathan Widboom, DO, received his DO from Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency in Integrated Family Medicine and Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine at Larkin Community Hospital in South Miami. Dr. Widboom has presented and participated as an osteopathic manipulative medicine (OMM) table trainer for the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association (FOMA) and Nova Southeastern University (NSU) Graduate Medical Education (GME). Jason D. Winn, Esquire, a graduate of the University of Maryland, Winn received his Juris Doctorate from Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad College of Law in Ft. Lauderdale. He is admitted to the Florida Bar and has worked for an assistant public defender in the Fifth Judicial Circuit where he conducted over 15 jury trials, numerous nonjury trials, and hearings including: violations of probation, restitution, and early termination motions for defendants in juvenile, misdemeanor and felony court. Winn was also an adjunct professor at Lake Sumter Community College teaching Business Law and was appointed by Governor Bush to serve a one-year term on the Judicial Nominating Commission for Judicial Compensation Judges. In 2006, he opened his own practice, where he is managing partner and continues to focus on criminal, administrative, governmental, civil, family law, wills and trusts. Currently, he serves as general counsel for the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association (FOMA) and executive director and general counsel for the Florida Society of Hearing Healthcare Professionals (FSHHP). He is a member of the Florida Bar, Tallahassee Bar, Legal Services of North Florida, a lifetime member of the state Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and a member of the Tallahassee Florida Association Criminal Defense Lawyers (FACDL) chapter. Paul Ziajka, MD, PhD, received his medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Orlando Regional Medical Center in Orlando and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. He serves as president of the Florida Lipid Institute, Florida Lipid Associates and Lipid Education and Consulting Services, Inc. Currently, he is a courtesy clinical assistant professor for the Department of Medicine at the University of Florida (UF) and an assistant professor for the School of Nursing at the College of Health and Public Affairs for the University of Central Florida (UCF).
