2 Viktor Szatmári PhD, Dipl. ECVIM-CA (Cardiology) Assistant Professor, Department of Clinical Sciences of Companion Animals, Internal Medicine, University of Utrecht. After graduation from the University of Veterinary Science in Budapest, Hungary in 1995, he worked mainly on diagnostic ultrasonography of companion animals in Budapest and from 1999 in Utrecht, Netherlands. In 2004 he defended his PhD thesis on Ultrasonography of portosystemic shunting in dogs: Doppler studies before, during and after surgery in Utrecht. After completing a residency program at the Companion Animal Clinic at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the Utrecht University, he gained the Diplomate status of the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine Companion Animals in subspecialization Cardiology. Since 2007 he has been working at the same clinic as a staff cardiologist/ internist and is responsible for top referent patient care in the fields of cardiovascular and broncho-pulmonary diseases of dogs and cats. Besides teaching veterinary students, he gives many lectures and workshops for veterinarians all over the world.

Program: Day 1: Gait analysis: Types of gait pattern identified by the therapist. Lameness assessment (theory). Observations of a patient made during gait analysis and how to conduct in-depth. gait analysis on a patient. Understanding gait, lever movement arms, muscle groups, muscle actions and how gait patterns are achieved by the patient. The physical properties of water and how they interact with the patient. How the application of advanced therapy equipment and techniques assists in the reeducation of a patient s gait pattern Manual handling of patients to carry out rehabilitation exercises (practical) Progressions using advanced equipment and techniques on patients Evaluation of rehabilitation treatment and justification for it Price: kr. 6000,- (incl.dinner/excl.accomodation) - kr. 7200,- (incl.dinner and accomodation) Max. 12 participants Detailed program on VSP Fysioterapikursus Saturday 21 th - Sunday 22 th of March 2015 Karl Jones - Veterinary Physiotherapist After over 20 years rehabilitating armed forces personnel and elite athletes, Karl wanted to develop his interest in and passion for animals, so from he trained and qualified as a veterinary physiotherapist. His MSc research project investigated outcome measures following cranial cruciate surgery work that will be very useful in future physiotherapy research. Working from his clinic in Berkshire and on referral at Anderson Moores in Winchester and with Michael Hamilton at Lane End, he and his team provide skilled, patient and compassionate veterinary rehabilitation. Karl works closely with US-based company Gait4Dog, which specialises in gait analysis using a pressure mat and video to gain a better understanding of an animal s lameness in order to offer a refined tailored programme following surgery or injury. In addition Karl teaches students who are on the Veterinary Physiotherapy course at Liverpool University and Hartpury College, and speaks on veterinary rehabilitation at various congresses and symposia. He is a Category A member of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Animal Therapy (ACPAT), a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP), and registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC).
