Dr. Gummadi completed her hematology/ oncology fellowship and internal medicine residency at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center (LSUHSC) in Shreveport, Louisiana. In recognition of her research on breast cancer gastrointestinal malignancies, Dr. Gummadi received the LSUHSC Internal Medicine faculty. Dr. Gummadi exhibited the highest level of compassionate patient-centered care during her training and her goal is to help cancer treatment. Dr. Gummadi is dedicated to providing cancer patients with a better quality of life. Her special interest is in benign and malignant hematology as well as solid tumors. 2 Oscar Garcia, M.D. Radiation Oncology He completed his residency at the University of Western Ontario. He continued his Radiation Science Center in San Antonio where he was also an Assistant Professor for 5 years. He has been recognized as Best Doctor in America on various occasions and takes great pride in caring for his patients. Dr. Garcia was in private practice with US Oncology in San Antonio prior to opening his own practice in the Val ley and has been serving the Rio Grande Val ley for the past 8 years. 3 Eugenio Galindo, M.D. Medical Oncology/Hematology Dr. Galindo specializes in medical oncology oncology. He has served as the medical director for Doctors Hospital at Renaissance and continues to be an active board member. He has served the Rio Grande Val ley for the past 17 years and feels very passionate about serving his community and has special interests in treating solid tumors. He has co-authored several research publications. 5 RENAISSANCE MEDICAL FOUNDATION Jose L. Almeda, M.D. Liver & Pancreas Surgeon Organ Transplantation Dr. Jose L. Almeda was born in Del Rio, Texas and did his medical school and General Surgery residency training in San Antonio at UTHSCSA. He is certified by The American Board of Surgery. Dr. Almeda completed fellowships in Liver and Kidney Transplantation at the University of Southern California (USC) and is accredited by America Society of Transplant Surgeons. In addition, under the direction of Rick Selby M.D., he completed an intense fellowship in Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery also at USC. During this training, he focused on tertiary referrals involving complex liver, bile duct, and pancreatic diseases. Using traditional open, and new laparoscopic techniques, Dr. Almeda now offers San Antonio and South Texas specialized surgical services focused on pancreatic cancer, liver tumors, and bile duct diseases including repair of bile duct injuries. Along with Dr's. Washburn and Halff, the team offers vascular reconstruction for those pancreatic tumors previously categorized as inoperable and can help with liver tumors involving complicated resections. The outcomes of these operations parallel or exceed those of tumors that do not involve vascular structures, thus the benefit to the patients is tremendous. Jose L.
