Overview Pure1 is a cloud-based array management and support platform. The Pure1 platform is comprised of the following areas: Manage. Monitor and analyze performance and activity across all arrays in your organization. Support. Log issues, view the status of current cases, and contact the Pure Storage Support team. Know that the Pure Storage Support team monitors your array continuously and resolves most issues as they arise. Community. Learn more, ask questions, and contribute to the Pure Storage community. Authenticated users can access Pure1 through any web browser on their desktop or mobile device. Pure1 requires no software or installation. Updates and new features are seamlessly introduced over the cloud. Pure1 Manage consolidates all of your organization s FlashArrays into a single pane of glass to help you manage your entire infrastructure from one screen. In Pure1 Manage, monitor vital array information, such as IOPS, latency, bandwidth, capacity utilization, data reduction, replication processes, and alerts. Pure1 Manage is organized into the following pages: Arrays. Monitor array health, view alert details, and analyze key performance indicators. Replication. View replication activity across all arrays. Analytics. Analyze current storage capacity and utilization trends, and use historical trends to forecast utilization rates. Messages. View Purity alerts. Pure1 Manage displays up to 3 years worth of storage, replication, and alert details. Pure1 Manage attempts to update array information every 30 seconds. Go to the Purity GUI to view array-specific information in real time. 2 Pure Storage 2015

Pure1 Manage Navigation The Pure1 Manage screen is divided into three major sections: The shaded header bar along the top of the screen contains links to areas outside Pure1 Manage. Tap SUPPORT or COMMUNITY to exit Pure1 Manage and enter the support or community portals, respectively. Tap HELP to view Pure1 Manage documentation. Tap LOG OUT to log out of Pure1 Manage. The main header bar near the top of the screen contains links to areas within Pure1 Manage. If all arrays are reporting data, a green check mark appears in the cloud. If at least one array is not reporting data, a red x appears in the cloud. Tap the cloud to jump to the most recently viewed Arrays page. The two alerts boxes next to the cloud display the respective number of open critical and warning alerts. Tap either alert box to jump to the most recently viewed Messages page to view alert details. Pure Storage

The main area of the screen displays the details for the selected Arrays, Replication, Analytics, or Messages page. All Pure1 Manage pages include the ability to perform searches by array name. Most Pure1 Manage pages include the ability to filter views by FlashArray model, storage protocol, and/or Purity version. In the following example, the Arrays view has been filtered to display only FlashArray FA-450 models with mixed iscsi and Fibre Channel protocol. Tap Clear All to clear all of the filters. Tap to clear individual filters. 4 Pure Storage 2015

Pure1 Manage - Arrays Page The Arrays page displays all of the arrays in your organization in one view, enabling you to monitor and analyze the health of the arrays and troubleshoot alerts to quickly address potential problems. Array details can be displayed in Card View, Expanded Card View, or list view. Tap the icons in the upper-right corner to switch between the views. The broken link icon indicates that the array has not phoned home to Pure1 since the last updated time. A broken link will appear after ten minutes have elapsed since the last time the array was able to phone home. Array health and capacity and performance metrics are also available through the Purity GUI, Purity CLI, and REST API. Card View The Card View offers a compact view of the overall health of the array. Each card in the Card View represents an array. Tap the array name in a card to view array details through the Purity GUI. Tap the alert icon in the upperright corner of a card to flip it over and view the alert details. Pure Storage

The Card View represents a graphical depiction of the current array details. Here is a breakdown of the card components for the Card View: 6 Pure Storage 2015

Expanded Card View The Expanded Card View represents a more detailed version of the Card View. Tap the array name in a card to view array details through the Purity GUI. Tap the alert icon in the upperright corner of a card to flip it over and view the alert details. 7 Pure Storage 2015

The Expanded Card View page is similar to the Card View page, but with more detail. Here is a breakdown of the card components for the Expanded Card View: 8 Pure Storage 2015

Each card in the Expanded Card View includes three subpanels: Capacity, Health, and Performance. Tap a heading name to expand the subpanel. The Capacity panel displays how capacity is being consumed. In the expanded Capacity panel, hover over the bar graph to view month-by-month array space usage details. The Health panel displays a graphical version of the array and its hardware components. In the expanded Health panel, hover over any part of the graph to view the status of each hardware component on the array. 9 Pure Storage 2015

The Performance panel displays a recent history of performance details, broken down into reads and writes. In the expanded Performance panel, hover over the line graphs to view recent latency, IOPS, and bandwidth activity. Tap to expand and collapse the individual graphs. List View The List View represents a tabular view of the array details. Each row in the list represents an array. Tap a column heading to sort the list. Tap an alert icon to view the alert details. 10 Pure Storage 2015

Pure1 Manage Replication Page The Replication page displays replication activity that has occurred between the arrays within your organization. Each row in the replication table represents a unique protection group, source array, and target array combination, and its associated replication timeline. The Latest RPO (Recovery Point Objective) column represents the creation date and time of the last successfully replicated snapshot. The rows can be filtered by Protection Group, Source, or Target name through the Quick Find search box. By default, all replication processes are displayed. Select the In Progress check box to display only the replication processes that are currently in progress. The page displays replication metrics for the past 24 hours. Tap the Range drop-down to set the time range from as short as one hour to as long as All Time. Drag the range buttons along the bottom of the table to zoom within the time range. By default, the replication rows are sorted in alphabetical order by protection group name. Tap the column heading of the protection group name, source array name, target array name, or latest RPO to sort the rows. Replication details are also available through the Purity GUI, Purity CLI, and REST API. Pure Storage

Pure1 Manage Analytics Page The Analytics page displays historical and projected array capacity trends for each array. Analyze historical information to plan for future capacity needs and perform projections to estimate when an array might reach critical capacity thresholds. In the Analytics page, each graph represents an array. The curves in each graph are comprised of a series of individual data points. Each data point represents a daily interval, calculated as the average capacity level for that day. Hover over any part of a graph to display the date and array fullness for a specific point in time. Note that the data in the Analytics page lags one hour behind the real-time data. Select a time range to view array capacity trends from as recently as 30 days to as far back as 1 year. The Analytics page offers three the following three projection methods: none (historical only), mirror, and linear. Historical Analysis In the Analytics page, set the projection method to None to display historical capacity information for each array over the specified range of time. Hover over the line graph to view array percentage full details at a certain point in time. Historical data for individual arrays and their hosts, host groups, and volumes can be viewed through the Purity GUI, Purity CLI, and REST API. 12 Pure Storage 2015

Projections The Analytics page offers two types of projection methods: mirror and linear. Select either projection method to display the projection view. To perform projections, an array must have at least seven (7) days worth of historical data. If the array has less than 7 days worth of data, the following message appears: Insufficient historical data to forecast capacity. The projection view is divided vertically into two halves. A dotted green vertical bar separates historical data (on the left side) from projection data (on the right side). The solid line on the historical side represents actual historical data; the dotted line on the projection side represents projections into the future. On the historical side, the specified window of time (training window) bounded by the two slider bars determines future capacity projections on the right side. To perform projections, move the slider bars to expand and contract the training window; this projects array capacity trends on the projection side. Ideally, select a time range that does not include unusual capacity fluctuations. The metrics to the right of each graph display the amount of time and space left before the array reaches 100% and 90% (raw) capacity, respectively, based on projected calculations. In the following example, the array has 1.69 TB of space and 3 weeks left before it reaches 100% raw capacity. Predictions are also displayed at 90% raw capacity. Move the slider bars to modify the projection line and predictions. If Pure1 Manage cannot retrieve data from the server, the following message appears, Could not retrieve capacity history data. Pure1 Manage offers two projection modes: Mirror and Linear. Pure Storage

In Mirror mode, Pure1 Manage copies the historical pattern in the training window and repeatedly plots the pattern in the projection window to create the capacity trend line. In the following example, the user is projecting capacity trends in mirror mode. Based on the pattern specified in the training window, if array E42-3 repeats the pattern in the training window, the array has 2 weeks and 1.07TB of raw capacity left before it reaches 90% full. In Linear mode, Pure1 Manage uses the first and last points in the training window to perform a linear interpolation. In the following example, the user is projecting capacity trends in linear mode. Based on the pattern specified in the training window, if array E42-3 uses the first and last points of the training window to perform a linear interpolation, the array has 5 months and 2.10TB of raw capacity left before it reaches 100% full. 14 Pure Storage 2015

Pure1 Manage Messages Page Purity creates alerts when significant events occur within a FlashArray. The Messages page displays a list of individual alerts. Each row in the messages table represents an informational, warning, or critical alert that has been created on the array in the past 24 hours. The colored squares along the left side of the list indicate the alert severity. By default, the messages are sorted in chronological descending order by the most recently updated alert. Tap any of the column headings to sort the messages. Alert details are also available through the Purity GUI, Purity CLI, and REST API. Pure Storage

Process Steps Before You Begin Before you begin using Pure1 Manage, verify the following: Pure1 Manage users are authenticated to log into Pure1 at pure1.purestorage.com. Users must have purestorage.com login credentials to access Pure1. Contact Pure Storage Support at to obtain access to Pure1. The phone home facility is enabled on each array. The phone home facility provides a secure direct link between the array and the Pure Storage Support team. This is how Pure1 Manage retrieves array information. Configure the phone home facility through the Purity GUI (System > Configuration > Support Connectivity) or Purity CLI (purearray enable phonehome command). The desktop or mobile device browser is supported.
