This new service brings together a range of whole school technology solutions allied to classroom-based activity, geared to providing a comprehensive menu of school improvement services. Our significant experience of working within the education sector allows us to provide a range of high quality services that gives schools the confidence of an embedded technology-based strategy. As evidenced by our Music Service, Learning and Assessment and Health Education Services, we are recognised as providers of high quality teaching and learning, delivered by high quality professional staff, within a not-for-profit environment. 3 School Technology Strategy At Services for Education, we understand the ICT needs of schools and the importance of balancing your limited budget against the need to maintain and upgrade technology. We are offering schools the opportunity of a free review of your ICT Strategy to help ensure whatever you spend on ICT aligns to the strategic aims of your school. The review session will enable us to work with you to identify your functional requirements and make recommendations for the technology best suited to your school with a robust and reliable infrastructure to support the fast changing devices into the future. Services for Education will provide a Project Manager to oversee and co-ordinate the changes as we know from experience how challenging change can be if not managed properly. The Project Manager will liaise with and manage the relationships with all third party suppliers, allowing teaching staff to do what they do best, and leave the implementation and change management to us. 4 Securus Education Securus Education is a safeguarding tool which protects pupils from cyberbullying, online grooming, explicit images and harmful sites such as those promoting suicide and anorexia, among other threats. Securus Software has been established for over a decade and is the UK s leading provider of child protection and monitoring software. The system is already used by over 3,200 schools in the UK alone. Securus Education detects inappropriate content as soon as it appears on screen, whether it has been typed or received by the user. A screen capture is taken of every incident, showing what was displayed at the time, who was involved and when the incident took place. Update Management All antivirus solutions are built to preserve network speed and stability, and smooth and reliable operation, and come with a range of tools and customisation options to ensure a consistent level of security. Trace is an online tool that helps schools to manage and monitor pupil progress and school performance more effectively, capture attainment against expectations, and identify next steps for future planning. 7 Website Hosting and Development Have you checked your schools website url with Google s Mobile Friendly Checker recently and is it fully compliant? Google s search algorithms were recently changed to down-rank sites, which do not also render correctly on mobile devices. Website Hosting and Development If your site is not compliant, then we can advise on how to upgrade to a responsive design which will maintain your school s search engine ranking. 8 Content Filtering - with SurfProtect Partnering with industry-leading EXA Networks At Services for Education, we understand just how important content filtering is to your school and keeping all those who use ICT solutions safe, which is why we ve teamed up with content filtering experts, at industry-leading Exa Networks. Ofsted s E-Safety Framework and SurfProtect With Ofsted s E-Safety Framework agenda now focused upon providing students with the knowledge and skills to stay safe online, the content filtering solution employed by a school must be flexible and adaptable rather than simply a blanket ban across all potentially inappropriate material. That is why SurfProtect puts schools in control. Its features and flexibility combine to make a content filtering system that protects pupils, whilst also providing staff with the freedom to authorise their own e-safety decisions according to Ofsted s framework. SurfProtect s default setting provides the building blocks to internet safety by automatically restricting access to offensive materials and categories. However, these can be altered as deemed appropriate enabling you to create a content filtering policy as strict or permissive as you would like it to be. This can be further tailored to meet your school s needs by implementing different filtering policies for staff and students, year groups, and even individual computers. With the ability to completely customise the websites accessible on your internet connection, you are able to build an e-safety solution that works for you. SurfProtect (included with Broadband) Surf Protect is a flexible, real-time content filtering system designed from conception to place you in control, it provides you with the ability to customise the websites accessible on your internet connection and is available through three different formats: SurfProtect Cloud is inclusive with all connectivity services. It works by transparently intercepting the traffic and filtering it accordingly. 9 Which is right for me? Essentially, it depends on the level of control you require over your filtering policy. SurfProtect Fusion provides a greater amount of flexibility than is possible with SurfProtect Cloud and Proxy; by working in conjunction with a firewall, it enables filtering to a degree as specific as an individual user. It is also possible with Fusion to filter secure sites (HTTPS) something that is of particular importance following Google s recent adoption of HPTTPS across its range of services. Alongside providing advanced filtering, Fusion also supplies user reporting. This means that as well as blocking access to banned sites, it provides information about the activity on your internet connection. From which websites are being accessed in real-time, to historical logs of all website requests, you have complete visibility. So if you need the following content, then SurfProtect Cloud or Proxy is perfect for you But, if you also need the following additional support, SurfProtect Fusion is right for you How does it work? SurfProtect s default setting automatically restricts access to the most commonly blocked web categories, so you receive instant safety from the outset. However, this can be completely customised to create a filtering policy as strict or permissive as you would like it to be. The easy-to-use, web-based portal provides you with the ability to alter the settings through its simple one-click feature. Each website is automatically assigned to a category. Access to it is then either allowed or blocked depending on the status of that category. Divided into two groups, Recommended Categories (sites which the majority of users would not want children to access) and Optional Categories (sites which are subjective), the lists enable you to quickly and easily allow or block sections of the internet as appropriate. Simply click the box alongside the category name and a tick will appear to indicate that it is now blocked. Click again and it will be allowed. The real-time update feature means that within moments your preference will be implemented. SurfProtect s flexibility also means that even if a website belongs to an allowed category, but you would like to block access to it, you can simply enter its address into the Default Blocked List, and it will update in real-time to overwrite the category s setting. On average, SurfProtect categorises 3,500 new websites a day Page 9
